I used to use Nivea Extra Gentle eye make up remover all the time, until they started to drastically increase the price, that is. I used to buy this when it was less than £2 a bottle, and as this isn't a product that's been about for donkey's years, I just decided that I thought they were asking too much money for it really. Don't misunderstand me, it really is a fantastic product but I think that at the current price of £3.39, it's a little overpriced and now I prefer to use Tesco's own brand which works equally well but also costs a lot more.
This was a product I used to use a lot and only stopped a few months back. The bottle did last me a long time, so maybe I shouldn't complain too much. The consistency of this eye make up remover took a bit of getting used to, for me especially, as prior to using this I was used to using cream eye make up remover lotion. This one has a very runny consistency, - almost as thin as water. It has a light fresh fragrance and it never stung or irritated my eyes, even when I was having to keep the cotton wool pad applied for longer than I normally would, say if I was trying to remove waterproof mascara.
This eye make remover was and still is exceptionally gentle and it's suitable for those who wear contact lenses (me). It's been dermatologically tested and it's suitable for even the most sensitive of skin types. This eye make up remover only comes in one size (125ml plastic bottle). I used it on a cotton wool pad but as it was so runny, it was very easy to apply too much lotion and therefore end up wasting a lot of the product.
It really was brilliant for removing even the tiniest traces of eye make up, including waterproof mascara and eyeliner. It also seemed to moisturise and refresh the eye area after I had used it and there was never any need for me to have to pull or tug at the skin around the eye area as the make up just came off so easily, every time I used it. I would buy this again if I ever found it on offer but every time I look out for it in Boots or Superdrug, it's always set at the same price (£3.39) and I still think that's a little overpriced.
Nice if you can get it cheap.
Nivea Daily Essentials extra gentle eye make-up remover
I purchased this product about a month ago and I have been using it every day I wear makeup (about four to five days a week). I purchased this product as the majority of make-up wipes I have tried do not remove all of my make-up and they can really irritate my skin/eyes (the only wipes that do not irritate my skin are the boots own cucumber wipes).
- Product description

- Using the product and results
I have used this product quite a lot and I have now used up about half of the bottle (the bottle itself contains 125ml of eye make-up remover). The first thing I noticeable about this product is the scent. I do prefer skincare products to have no scent as I find that skin care products that have scents to irritate my skin but this one does have a scent but it does not irritate my skin. The scent is quite fresh, clean and soapy smelling which is fairly nicely but again I would have preferred this product to have not scent. To use I just apply some to a cotton pad and then hold over my closed eyes to allow the eye make-up remover to slowly dissolve the eye make-up. I hold the slightly damp cotton pad with the make-up remover on, on my eyes for about ten seconds or if I have more eye make-up on I will hold to pad on my eyes for a bit longer (but I only apply a very slightly amount of pressure). I then wipe the cotton pad from my eyes and about 90-95% of my eye make-up will have been removed! This product is stated to be an eye make-up remover but I have been using this product all over my face and it works really well at removing foundation, concealer and my eye make-up such as my eye shadow, eye liner, mascara etc. I find that this product is also good at removing my lipsticks/glosses but this product can irritate my lips very slightly.
This product is a really great eye make-up remover and a great general make up remover. It does not irritate my skin (apart from my lips slightly) and best of all it does not feel greasy on my skin. I do have two really good make up removers already but both of them leave a greasy film on my skin which does not feel nice - these make up removers include the: Lancôme bi-facial remover and the Clinique take the day off remover. Overall, I am very impressed with this product as it feels smooth on my skin, it does not irritate my skin, it removes all of my make-up really quite well (such as my foundation, waterproof mascara, eye make-up, concealer etc) and it does not feel greasy on my skin. Also this product does not feel like it dries my skin out and it has not caused any blemishes to appear since using this product.
- Price and availability
I purchased this product from a boots store and it is currently priced at: £3.39 at boots, ££2.39 at Lloyd's pharmacy, £4.50 on amazon.co.uk and you may also be able to find this product on eBay.co.uk.
*Easy and quick to use
*Cheap and fairly widely available
*Removes my make-up really well - and not just eye make-up, all types of make up! (not as good as an expensive micellar water though)
*Does not leave my skin feeling dry, tight, irritated or uncomfortable
*Does not leave a greasy/oily residue on my skin
*It is scented - but it does not irritate my skin
*I do go through this product fairly quickly
Thank you for reading my review
Up until recently I'd just been using cleansing wipes to remove make-up, but when it came to black waterproof mascara and eyeliner they did struggle in getting it all off, resulting me having to use a kind of scrubbing motion against my eyes which wasn't very comfortable and of course no good for my eyelashes. I decided to buy a make-up removing lotion and after a quick browse in my local Superdrug I bought the Nivea extra gentle one, which I chose mainly because of the claim that it is extra gentle as I have such sensetive skin, and it is also quite a reasonable price.
I paid £3.39 for the 125ml bottle which I know is not dirt cheap but to be honest I am sick of buying dirt cheap make-up products only to find that they're no good which is why I didn't mind paying that bit extra. Nivea is quite a popular brand so I felt that I was paying a bit for just brand name which didn't bother me too much as. I bought my bottle of this from Superdrug and it's widely available due to Nivea being such a well known brand. Boots, Amazon and all of the well known supermarkets sell it and prices do vary very slightly.
The make up remover comes in quite a chunky plastic bottle which is pretty basic in design. It doesn't look cheap or tacky at all and it doesn't look out of place on my dressing table. The bottle is clear but has a light blue tint to it which is a bit nicer than being completely transparent in my opinion, but the fact that I am still able to see how much of the product is left is handy. The branding on the bottle is minimal but informative. There's the Nivea logo, the product name and a brief product description which simply states that the product contains ProVitamin B5, is suitable for all skin types and gently removes make-up and mascara.
The bottle has a flip top lid which is easy to open and securely close again. The make-up removing liquid itself is clear and it has the consistency of water. It does come running out of the opening quite quickly when tipped upside down but the little hole that it's dispensed from helps to slow the flow down a little resulting in no spills/no product going to waste. To use the prouct I simply get a cotton pad and pour the liquid on to it until it's soaked in and the pad is completely moist. It's important not to apply too much else as soon as you start using it moisture will drip out everywhere.
I then wipe it gently over my eyes and after the first wipe the make-up is almost gone - which I think is really impressive. After the first wipe the cotton pad is usually black with make-up so I get another cotton pad and repeat the process. After the second wipe all traces of make-up are gone and my skin around my eyes feels quite refreshed and clean. I've never had any problems with this irritating my skin or eyes and I've not experienced any stinging or burning sensations. I am really impressed with how effective this is at removing eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner quickly and effeciently and I like how gentle it is; I don't have to press the cotton pad onto my skin and scrub the skin, two gentle wipes across the eyes is enough to leave my skin free of any traces of make-up.
I also like that this smells quite nice - it's a gentle, fresh scent which has a pleasant 'clean' kind of fragrance. It doesn't smell artificial or like chemicals which is a nice change as the eye make-up remover that I had a while ago smelt like nail varnish! Overall, I highly recommend this eye make-up removing lotion as it's gentle, effective and good value for money.
I often wear mascara, and the brand I usually use is waterproof, simply because throughout my day my eyes often get irritated, and I don't want to end up with mascara streakng down my cheeks . Naturally, waterproof makeup needs something other than water to wash it off, but normal make-up removers are not designed to be used near the eyes . I needed something designed especially for eyes, gentle enough not to irritate , but strong enough to remove even waterproof mascara - and I've found it in Nivea Extra Gentle Eye Make Up Remover .
With it being a liquid, it does take some getting used to to not squirt out far too much. I do like that the packaging is semi transparent so I can tell when the product is beginning to run low . Only a little is needed at a time, so a bottle will last quite a while . The product will keep for up to 12 months once opened .
Costing me £3.29 for 150ml in Boots, this product is specially designed for the eyes, and is simple to use . I simply put a little of the pale blue liquid onto a cotton pad, and gently wipe across my eyelids and lashes. Then I need to simply rinse my face . and hey presto the job is done . It actually works very well, removing even waterproof make-up - even after it's been slept in all night.
If I've been on a night out and worn a lot of makeup, I sometimes have to wipe over my eyelids more than once to ensure I get everything off, but then I have found that to be the case with most eye make up removers. This is gentle, and does not cause any irritation to my eyes at all , and I didn't have to rub to get the makeup off, so my eyes were not irritated at all .
The product does exactly what I need it to do, and isn't too expensive . It might take more than one sweep to remove havy makeup after a night out, but it does the job well, leaving me fresh faced.
Nivea Visage Extra Gentle Eye Make -up Remover....
I wear soft contact lenses everyday and after using a few make up removers that left my eyes feeling irradiated and sore I decided on buying an extra gentle make-up remover and perusing the shelves in Boots I came across this one made by Nivea Visage.
It was a reasonable price at £3.39 pence for a good 125ml sized bottle. The design of the bottle is fairly average and just buy looking you can tell it is not an expensive product. It is quite a chunky design which means it stands up well on my dressing table and the lid which is a flip top pops open easily and clicks to seal very well.
The liquid inside the bottle is clear although the bottle itself is tinted blue giving the impression that the liquid inside is this blue colour. The Extra Gentle Eye Make-up Remover is really very fragrant and in a nice way. It seems to actually have the smell of many Nivea products which is a very clean fresh, yet warm smell and one that I find very appealing.
To use the product correctly you have to apply some to a cotton wool pad and wipe gently over the eye area. I have been told it is always better to work from the outside of the eye to the inside as this is meant to stretch the skin less than wiping the other way.
I have found this product nothing but brilliant. It really does work at removing all traces of eye make up but seems as light as water on a cotton wool pad and doesn't irritate my eyes in the slightest. I think that this is possibly the best eye make up remover that I have used at removing all traces of make-up from my eyes easily with only one attempt. The fact that it is extra gentle for me now is just an added bonus. I only use a small squirt on a cotton wool pad and this means that one bottle has lasted me a really good time.
I have used this eye make-up remover as my main product for the last two bottles and I should think that I will keep buying it until I get swayed by other product. It is a good price for the amount you get and the quality is fair too. It removes all make-up easily, quickly and effortlessly which is really what you want in this sort of product. There is the added bonus that this product is extra gentle and perfect for all types of skin. It has pro-vitamins in which also help to care for the lashes whilst cleaning them.
I would most certainly say it is a five star product and also that it is worth trying out even if you don't need the sensitive aspect of it. I give it a high recommendation and I have already suggested this to a few people at work who I thought might be interested.
A good product that works well and at a low cost - what more could you ask!
I hope this has been of some help to you.
Thanks for taking the time to read.
