This came as part of a Nivea for men gift set that I received from my aunt at Christmas and while I have used Nivea products before I had never used this before.
I have sensitive skin which can become really dried out and flaky and red looking when I use something which doesn't agree with me. Bizarrely a lot of so called sensitive products I find are worse for my skin than normal ones. Ideally I would like to be able to just wash my face with water but unfortunately my skin gets really clogged and it can become spotty and greasy if I don't use a decent face wash and moisturiser.
Being that my skin is sensitive but I also need a really thorough cleaning wash it can be hard to find a face wash which is both strong enough to effectively clean my skin but not harsh enough to irritate it. While I wouldn't say this is perfect for my skin it is pretty good especially as it isn't very expensive to buy either.
This is a gel cleanser which is to be used with water and then washed off. It doesn't lather as much as I would normally like but it spreads all over my skin easily enough. It is alcohol and soap free so I was sure it wasn't going to be that effective at cleaning but I actually thought it did quite a good job. My skin felt like it was getting a good clean with this and it certainly looked cleaner and clearer when I washed it off again.
It helped with the grease on my skin and it didn't cause me to have any breakouts after using it either. The only major thing about this that I didn't like was that even though it doesn't contain soap or alcohol it still left my skin feeling tight and uncomfortable afterwards. It wasn't red or blotchy and there was no itchiness or anything but it was tighter than it normally is with my usual face wash. After I moisturised it was ok but I would have thought that something which makes a big deal of how gentle it is would have not been so drying on my skin.
I would happily use it again if I received it as a gift but I probably wouldn't go out and specially buy myself it because there are other better face washes which agree with my skin better. I liked how it cleaned but not how it felt afterwards even if it was only mild.
I do think it is a good price however and you can buy it at Boot's for £4.35 but this is one of those brands that always seems to be on offer. It is ok but not great and will clean your face but might leave it feeling a bit dry.
I have used Nivea products for many years now and consider their quality to be high. This is a very mild cooling face wash with a hint of chamomile and vitamin E.
I have a beard which I keep pretty short and neat and I find that this wash is ideal for my face, which is in keeping with Nivea's description on the tube which states ''cleanses and softens the beard for a more comfortable shave''. I think it's fine before or after shaving as I wet shave around my neck and find it is soothing after or softens the beard before.
When purchasing look out for offers as the standard price in boots, super drug and most supermarkets is around £4
but I usually snap up a couple of tubes when it's on offer for £2 as it was in my local Morrisons recently.
Overall a bargain if you can get it for £2 or decent value at full price. It doesnt irritate my skin at all unlike some previous products I've used.
I'm not a great user of face washes. I am more old school and stick to soap, but this was purchased for me as a gift by a relative. So rather than let it go to waste I decided to try it out.
It comes in a gel form and after you have squeezed some on to your hand, lather it up with both hands and apply it to your face. You need to be careful to keep it away from your eyes. Not too sure how painful it is if you get some in your eyes but I would bet it is quite painful. You need to massage it into your face quite well. After doing that I left it on my face for about a minute, not too sure if it makes any difference! After that you just rinse it off with water. With it being in a handy squeezable tube it's ideal to use in the shower.
After you have dried your face you do get a sense that your face is a lot cleaner. It does say that face washes like these thoroughly cleanse your skin removing all dirt and excess oils. It also says that it unblocks pores for cleaner skin. Whether it actually did that I can't check but it does feel a lot cleaner.
You are supposed to use this face wash both morning and night and I would imagine that if used regular you would feel the benefit substantially. I must admit I have not used it that regular. Sometimes I forget and other times I am rushing so soap and water has to manage. But having said that I do try to use it as much as possible because I do feel the benefit.
As well as the skin feeling a lot cleaner you also get the slight fragrance associated with Nivea products. The fragrances are not that strong but just strong enough to give you a cleaner smell.
I would recommend this product and would advise anybody purchasing it to use it regular as instructed to gain maximum benefit.
I recently brought this certain face wash as I ran out of the one I was currently using.
It was on special offer at the time. It cost me around £1.50. It usually should be over £2, so I got quite a big percentage off the price.
It comes in a 100 ml carton tub and has a squeeze top opening. I prefer this as it doesn't all come out at once.
One of the main advantages of this certain face wash is how deep cleaning it is. When I first tried it I felt like I had a new, refreshed face after using it. I only used a small amount on my hand, but it managed to cover all my face and neck. The smell itself is fragranced. If you have tried any other of the Nivea for men face washes or even the moisturisers, It smells just like those.
The face wash itself gets deep into the skin pores to give it a really good clean. I've used different face washes before, but some of them left my skin feeling dry and taut. This product doesn't. It's a very comfortable face wash to use.
-- Disadvantages --
I couldn't really find any disadvantages for this product as it suited my skin so well. You're supposed to use it morning & night. But I tend to only use it once a day. I use it twice a day If i have had a long day or planning a night out with friends in the evening.
Although my one friend used it, just to try it out. But for some reason it caused a small allergic reaction on his face. Like a burning sensation. So be wary as some people may be slightly allergic to it.
-- How long does it last --
It depends on how many times a day you actually use it. Obviously if you use it twice a day (as it says on the bottle ) It won't last as long as if you wash it just the once. But this face wash lasted around a couple of weeks for me. I probably only washed my face twice a day about four times overall.
-- Overall --
Overall, I think this is one of the best face washes to have. If you want a deep cleanse, with a refreshed feel after it, then this product is definitely for you. I'm going to give it a 9/10
So I've finally got round to using this Nivea For Men Sensitive Face Wash that was bought for me at Christmas! You know what it's like a Christmas, lots of distant relatives making the effort to buy a little something for everyone. This always means I end up with more deodorants, shaving gels and face washes than you can shake a stick at. Although it saves me buying anything for the coming year!
I actually already use the Nivea Sensitive shaving gel and face balm which I am a big fan of so I had high hope for the face wash. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed with the face wash.
Coming in a nice clear and blue bottle, it fits in nicely with the Nivea range which has recently had a redesign in terms of appearance. The bottle contains 100ml which seems to be a standard size in comparison with other face washes on the market. As this was bought for me as a gift, I can't give an exact price that was paid for it at the time, however looking at the prices now; you can pick one of these up now for around £3.
The face wash itself is very thick and takes a bit of effort to squeeze out of the tube. The gel is clear and is completely fragrance free, as you'd expect from a sensitive face wash. Once I applied it to my face, I found the problem with a wash this thick - it is really hard work to get into a lather. Even when you are working it into your skin, it feels slimy and hard to work into a good consistency. It really doesn't feel like it is penetrating your skin all that well and it is a lot of work to wash it off afterwards.
However, the way it feels when in use to one side, it gets the job done. I have to say my skin does feel very good after using this face wash and it is certainly clean. I would just prefer it to be a lot less effort to get there!
Overall, I prefer a number of other washes to this so I'd only choose to buy this as a last resort even if it does do what it's supposed to
I have managed to get through life with good old fashioned soap and why not, gets you clean after all, but recently I have had dry skin just under my eyes and along the crease of the nose were it joins my face, probably lack of vegetables.
When it comes to price this is not cheap compared to soap, infact I could get 4 bars of normal soap ant it would last 4 times as long so why buy this product. Well its simple and straight forward this is nice to wash with but more to the point it does not dry out the skin, apart from the lack of dryness it also leaves my skin very soft indeed.
To use this product it is best to dampen your face, get a very small amount of the product and massage into your face, this is an enjoyable feeling that is somehow better than old soap, a small spot of this will cover the whole face surprisingly well, once fully massaged in to your face rinse with clean water and feel the differance, I can feel it straight away and can say It feels good and lasts for a while I use it once a day with regular soap any other time. The best time to use it before a shave as it will also soften stubble. Care is to be tacken when applying near the eyes.
The product comes in a tube similar to hair styling gel and also has the same feel and consistancy, the tube is very easy to squeeze and care should be taken when doing this as only a small amount is required.
The product contains a whole load of unknown ingredients but in saying that it is dermatologically appoved, there is no soap and is fragrance free, there is a smell to it but is mild and pleasant, also contains chamomile and vitamin E
I have got a sensitive skin, you wouldn't think it to look at me as I do come across as being a manly man but I have to be careful about using strong soaps and perfumes on my face. I like to use Nivea for Men products for this reason and one of the best ones I use at the moment is the Nivea face wash, which I buy from the supermarket. My dear other half buys this for me when I run out. I pay £1.99 for a 250ml sized tube. This lasts me quite a while though so I reckon it's decent value for money.
I have a long beard (47 inches at its longest point) so I haven't seen the skin on my chin and cheeks for many years. I use this facial wash all over my face and neck and beard and I also find it has the added advantage of making my beard and eyebrows go really soft and fluffy after I have washed with it.
I simply put a small amount onto the palm of my damp hands and massage well into my face and beard. I go right down to the neck and right up to the hairline on my forehead and I also like to use it inside my ears and all around the ear area. I have a thing about keeping my ears scrupulously clean, and as I also have remarkably hairy ears, I find this facial wash helps to soften the ear hairs also.
The facial wash is great smelling. It is certainly not feminine or womanly in its aroma at all, on the contrary, it is quite a masculine smell though a little neutral also at the same time. It makes my skin feel soft and refreshed and very clean and sparkling. I feel rejuvenated after I have used this facial wash and I feel that it really wakens me up if I use it first thing on a morning before I go to work - especially if it is a Monday when I am at my most tired.
I think this is great value for money and I am happy to use it as I don't find it feminine at all as it is designed specifically for blokes. You'd never catch my dear other half using it as she says it is to astringent for her and she doesn't like the smell.
Overall, a fantastic product and I happily recommend.
I use lots if Nivea sensitive for men products because they really work for me! I first tried this last Christmas when I receive a gift set from my parents. I like getting male grooming sets because you usually find somethinh useful in them!! I always use nivea for men shave gel as I have very sensitive skin. I now have another addition to my morning routine, Nivea sensitive face wash! I will now go into a bit more detail on the product and explain why this has helped me out in the past year.
The face wash comes in a plastic tube which stands upside down so that you can always squeeze out the product. I like the design, it's simple and similar to their other products. The tube contain 250ml of face wash. It lasts a long time and is quite small, it wont take up too much space in your bathroom :) overall I really like the design of the bottle.
The face wash:
The liquid is clear and see through, it is also soap and fragrance free. What I like most about this wash is that it is a simple face wash. It has a strange smell though, I can't put my finger on it! It doesn't put me off though. After using the wash my face feels clean and very fresh, it tends to feel clean all day too. I like using it before bed and in the morning. The main reason why I have continued to use this is that it helps stop shaving irritation, it is meant to soften your beard and skin so that when you shave it won't hurt. I can confirm that it works well, since using this I have suffered little or no irritation when shaving. If I don't use this I tend to be in pain after shaving, it's a great way to prepare your skin. I have also noticed that I have less spots on my skin, overall I feel this has left my face much better and cleaner and I would recommend it to anyone.
You can picK this up from most stores for just over £2, I have seen it on offer for less than that. It's rather expensive but it does last for a long time. You only need a small amount and it lavers up on your skin nicely. I believe it's worth it's price tag!
This is a really good product for any guy with sensitive skin or any guy who just wants a nice clean face! I really rate this and I have had no problems with it yet. Give it a try, it will improve your shaving experience and stop the annoying irritation when you have sensitive skin issues!
I am giving this 5 stars because it has worked wonders for me.
Thanks for reading my review, hope it helped!!
Despite my girlfriends arguments to the contrary, I am quite a girly man. I iron, I cook, I clean. Luckily for me my job as a surgeon is manly enough to make up for it so I can indulge my metrosexual side! I regularly work long hours and so my skin is one of the first things to suffer following a hard week. With this in mind I've tried a whole host of different skin treatments and creams to try and remove the 5am look from my face when meeting patients. The Nivea for Men Sensitive Face Wash is one of the few products I've tried that has a permanent home in my shower.
Nivea produce three forms of Face Washes as far as I can tell, one normal, one sensitive and one with some fancy CoEnzyme Q12 in it. The sensitive one, as the name suggests, is the least harsh of the range. Most men's face products I've found contain micro-beads for debriding oils and dead skin. While these micro-beads do a great job they can be a bit harsh if used every day and can leave you feeling a bit dry and tight. While moisturisers can help with this, I'd rather avoid the problem in the first place.
Nivea's Sensitive Face Wash is a light wash that works quite well at cleaning up the oils on your face from a nights sleep. It's clear in colour and about as consistent as shampoo. It foams nicely and you don't need to use that much to get your entire face clean. I'd say a tub will last you about a month if used every day, not bad for £4! As with all wash products, it's best applied to a wet face as it can simply dry up if used on dry skin.
Typically I would use a more intensive face scrub every second or third day with this Nivea product inbetween. I've found it great for keeping my skin looking clean and fresh, while keeping it relatively well moisturised and loose. Combine this with the L'Oreal Men Expert Moisturiser and you've a recipe for a healthy looking face no matter what hour of the morning!
I got this face wash in a Gift Set last Christmas. It had a 50ml tube of this as well as shower Gel, a Sponge thing and a Moisturiser as well. I'm not 1 for going in for all the Male grooming products, and a Bar of Soap does me fine, but I thought I may as well use it up and who knows it may make my skin nice and not "craggy looking" as the wife keeps saying - Cheeky!
I'm not sure of the price of this being a smaller tube than the normal retail one, but I have looked about online and see that a 150ml can cost around the £7 mark.
The tube isn't too good looking. It is ok but it is just white with navy colouring on it. It stands on it's end so you should get it all out, and it is an easy to squeeze bottle even with wet hands.
This didn't smell like much, but being a sensitive wash I wasn't expecting a fragrance anyway. The Wash seems to be more like a Cream than a gel and it rubbed into wet skin ok.
After washed off this didn't dry my face out and my face felt quite soft and the wife said it seemed to have a bit of a nice sheen to it so that's all good.
I wouldn't necessarily go out and buy a product like this but it does the job of cleaning my face so I would say it is alright.
Nivea For Men sensitive Face Wash
I use a face wash for some years now mainly because I think it's a nice fresh feeling after washing in the morning and evening but of course also because of taken care of my face. A few years ago I first had a sample but since then I just buy the product in the store.
I know the brand Nivea more as a brand for careproducts for women but also shaving products for men. The brand however focuses also on the male market including making face products. The Nivea For Men sensitive Face Wash is a product for washing your face. It focuses on men who are looking for a product that cleans your skin but also takes care of it. It cleanses the skin and removes the dirt and grease but also cleanses the pores and prevents pimples and impurities. It prevents the skin of getting dry and gives it a fresh feeling.
It all sounds very good and from my own experience I must say that the product gives me a nice clean feeling after using it. My skin actually feels a lot cooler and softer. The product contains some ingredients like Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E and Menthol. The product is dermatologist approved and skin friendly 100% soap free.
You must use the product twice a day preferably in the morning and evening. I use it myself every morning while showering and before going to bed. You should wash your face making sure the face wash is spread all over your face but not around the eyes. You do not really need much for your entire face making the face wash last for a few months.
Nivea For Men sensitive Face Wash is a face wash specially developed for men. This is especially noticeable in the more neutral smell, a product for women has often more a flower scent. I think it's a great product to use and my skin feels softer and indeed fresher. I have a feeling that the face wash cleans, because the skin feels cleaner and looks healthier. The face wash is easy to apply and you do not need much for your entire face, causing the bottle last longer. Certainly a must for men who are looking for a good face wash.
Although face wash is not something I've tried since being a teenager and going through the usual Clearasil nonsense, I recieved this as a gift, and have recently found myself buy both this face wash, and the post shave balm to accompany it.
Living in a city, you do see grime and gunk build up, and this is a grown up version of a face wash that doesn't scream 'teenage' in my bathroom.
As far as the packaging goes, this stays away from girly, plain colours and simple text makes it look quite discreet.
Scent wise, this is quite fresh, despite it being 'fragrance free' i think it does have a smell to it. My girlfriend tried me on some clinique products and i will admit I have nabbed some simple before, maybe because my skin just needs a cleanse down and I don't have make up to take off I find this works just the same. I think it works out cheaper than simple too.
Overall this is good for city skin, and creates a lather that's alright in an emergency if you need to shave.
Think if you have problem skin the lack of chemicals could be effective, but for my normal to dry skin this does the job.
I use this a couple a times a week, mainly when I feel or see my skin looking greasy. I use this when im in the shower as I find its easier to rinse it off after I have applied it.
The face wash itself is a thick gel, which you need quite a bit at a time to do your whole face; I would say an amount about the size of a 2 pence piece in your palm. Rubbing it between your hands with warm water turns the gel into a rich white lather. After rubbing onto your face and massaging in with your fingers, you can feel the pores being cleaned as your skin instantly feels fresher. Your face feels and looks less greasy immediately after using it which is good. I also find that my skin will not look greasy for the rest of the day, but have since found that I have to do this everyday for best results for my skin. On the tube, the product description describes the face wash as being fragrance free. However, I don't think that it is. I do quite like the smell of the product, so it doesn't matter to me as I'd rather it smell as it does than not at all!
However, this feeling of fresh skin seems too temporary after getting out of the shower, that you wish you had done it twice! Also, you do get through the tubes quite quickly even though they are 100ml tubes. I find that if using daily which I like to do, then you can soon get through the tube, maybe in a fortnight! Like other Nivea products, this can soon become costly!
I like the Nivea products, they offer something for the man who wants to take better care of his face. I have not been overly impressed with Gillette of late, finding their prices way too steep. I dipped into the Nivea shaving gels and never looked back, so I felt it made some sense to give their Face Wash a try.
The key selling point is that this cleanser is alcohol and fragrance free. Now, I do not mind a subtle fragrance, infact I quite like a fruity smell, but I am not a fan of putting loads of alcohol all over my face. I find it very drying and it does not leave the skin feeling soft.
This wash comes in a pleasing squeezy bottle. I like the design because you can squelch it until you have devoured every last droplet. The easy to squeeze bottle also means less spillage and excellent pouring control.
I dispense a small amount onto the palms of my hands and then work into a lather with some warm water. It lathers up a treat and you will notice that a little goes a long way. When you apply to the face you will be greeted by a smooth and slightly creamy facial wash which feels sensual and relaxing on the face. I ensure that I work into face and neck for a thorough clean. It rinses off really easily too and there is no need to spend ages scraping reside of the cleanser away from the eye area.
After a few days of use, I was quite satisfied with the results. It does deliver a solid facial cleanse and the skin is left feeling soft. It does not sting, it does not smell and well...it cleans! Dare I say, it is verging on the bland. The Lush cleansers do this AND have wonderful ingredients and indulgent smells, so I think I might stick with them. Nivea does deliver good enough results, but does not have all the excitement that you get from a Lush cleanser.
Price wise, this will cost you about five pounds from a leading supermarket.
*Worst. Face wash. Ever?*
Some products are so awful that they deserve no stars and as the Dooyoo team don't seem to allow this, I'm awarding this terrible face wash one star - under duress! Like a suckless vacuum cleaner or a chocolate ladle, I can't see one possible use for Nivea For Men Sensitive Face Wash. Yes, the word suckless is invented.
*Even the fact that it was free doesn't absolve this shocker of its crimes against my face!*
I was given this face wash as part of a gift bag at Christmas and while I can't really complain about the cost, it retails at close to £5 on www.boots.com and other websites that sell toiletries and I strongly suspect that the vast majority of purchasers would be furious if they made the mistake of buying this.
The following are the claims of the manufacturer parried with my experience as a consumer:
'Soap and fragrance free'/It may be soap free, but it's certainly not fragrance free and the bouquet is reminiscent of a makeup removing wipe that's been bred with a used nappy.
'Thoroughly cleanses skin, removing dirt and excess oils'/Didn't lather, couldn't even find it on my palms after about a second, completely failed to remove dirt and actually seemed to make me more prone to blackheads. In addition to this, my skin felt very oily during the month or so I used this, as the wash completely failed to deliver what it promised.
'Skin is left looking healthy'/I looked terrible, with the slightly grubby greasy skin of someone with a hangover or a caffeine addiction!
*A grain of truth*
In my personal experience of this seemingly pointless male grooming product, one line from the tube isn't entirely fictitious: 'The special formulation is free from... colourants and alcohol to reduce the risk of skin irritations'. This isn't exactly a claim to fame - as a slice of cucumber could say the same, or a small quantity of lemon juice, or a splash of tap water.
At least it looks like I can recycle the packaging.
Alcohol and fragrance free /
