Nivea Gloss Wonder Balm
Advantages: Good coverage and selection of colours, very nourishing
Disadvantages: Not great pigmentation
I was having my regular weekly wander through Poundland recently and found a shelf full of these Nivea Gloss Wonder Balms in the make-up section. I couldn't resist the £1 price tag and bought a pink coloured gloss to try.
The lip gloss comes in a long, thin flexible plastic tube, much like other glosses I have bought in the past. The lid is a screw on and off cap and the end where the lip gloss comes out/is squeezed out is slanted to make application onto the lips easier. The gloss comes out of the small hole easily with a slight amount of pressure applied.
Each tube is predominantly clear so that you can see the colour of the gloss inside. There is also the Nivea branding and short descriptions and ingredients written on the tube. The poundland had about three different colours and I went for the Rose Balm shade. There are apparently 8 shades available and they each contain 14 ml of gloss.
The Rose balm is a very bright pink shade that has a nice sheen and shine to it. There is no distinctive scent to the gloss that I have. The gloss is quite a runny consistency and as a result when you squeeze the tube I have managed a few times to push too much out of the product out and made a bit of a mess, but it all gets used eventually.
On application the gloss glides easily over your lips and leaves a very generous coating for the amount of gloss that you actually use. It feels very light and slippery when on but also very moisturising which likely comes from the ingredients - these contain Argon Oil, Mango Butter and Cacao Butter.
The wonder balm is also meant to give your lips a plumper appearance and these do to a point, because my shade is quite light I think it lacks a plumping look but definitely gives a fuller look to your lips. My only criticism with this lip gloss is the poor pigmentation, I think that it could be pinker on the lips and I certainly thought that it would be a bolder pink when I bought it from the look of it.
This also contains an SPF of 15 so is good for wearing in the summertime.
Overall I think I got a bargain for paying £1 for this, it is really glossy, nourishing and long lasting. I would perhaps go for the darker shade next time so that it stood out more, but overall I am very impressed with this lip gloss. In chemists and supermarkets and online this retails from around £3.49.
Summary: A well deserved 4 out of 5 stars
