Nivea pure and natural day cream is a face cream from the well known Nivea brand. Now I am really not a fan of the traditional Nivea moisturising cream but thought I would give this a go as it was on offer when my last moisturiser ran out.
The cream has a long list of ingredients but the box states that 95% of them are from natural sources. Ingredients include argon oil (a source of vitamin E) and aloe Vera for skin conditioning. It contains no para end, colourants or mineral oils.
The cream is packaged in a smallish thick glass tub with a plastic screw on lid. It feels solid and heavy which is usually a sign of quality and instantly makes me feel like the product is more luxurious! However as with many of the glass tubs, is does fool you into thinking you are getting more than you actually are because the glass is so thick. The tub actually contains 50ml of product.
The cream itself is neither thick nor thin as face creams go and is pure white in colour. There is a subtle Nivea fragrance which is very light and pleasant. On application the cream feels quite rich but soon sinks in and is absorbed. Having dry skin, i really like a cream to feel rich but I also don't want it to leave my face feeling greasy so this is a big advantage of this cream. A little seems to go a long way and the tub has lasted me longer than I anticipated.
The day cream claims to give 24 hour protection and I do agree it keeps my face feeling moisturised until the following morning.
This day cream is part of niveas wider pure and natural range and after trying this product I am tempted to try some of the others. This cream costs £5.35 at boots and I feel that it is worth this price.
I have this product in my toiletries box but must admit that I haven't used it for a while since finding a different face cream that I really liked. However I have decided to review it as I found it in my box amongst my other lotions and potions over the last couple of days. I also have the pure and natural night cream which I am currently using.
The product comes in a small round clear glass jar that is 50ml in size. and has a white plastic screw top lid. On the front of the jar the Nivea Visage brand logo is clearly visible. At the side of that in green and blue lettering it tells you that it is pure and natural moisturising day cream. There is also a small leaf logo with a circle around it which confirms that it is 95% of natural origin. On the back of the jar it gives the jar size (50ml), the shelf life, (12 months) and some contact information for the brand.
The product itself is a white cream with quite a thick consistency. It smells really nice, fresh and clean. It is easy to apply and absorbs into the skin easily. To apply simply twist the lid to unscrew and remove, use the fingertips to get the desired amount and apply to the face and neck area after thoroughly cleansing the face. I find that I only need to apply a tiny amount because the cream is quite rich applying too much makes my skin look slightly greasy and I always leave it to fully absorb before applying any make up.

Price and availability.
This product is available from most beauty stores, supermarkets and online and usually retails around £5.39 however Asda currently have it priced at £3 for the 50ml jar.
I like this cream, it leaves my skin feeling fresh and soft but it can feel a bit greasy if too much is applied. For the price it is great value for money and I would recommend it.
The reason I bought this day cream was for two three simple reasons: I had run out of of the day cream I was using at the time, it was available in my local supermarket so I bought it when doing the food shop and it was on special offer around £3.00 so very affordable.
The actual look of the packaging is nice, simple and quite classic. The container is glass with a plastic lid that is easy to screw on and off. I find creams that are in this type of packaging, I can get all of the product out and when its finished its finished, rather than it being in a tube or bottle and some product still in it and potentially being wasted becaue you can not get it all out. The shape means its easy to hold and comfortable. The packaging does not scream female or male so if a guy was to use it, its not that obvious.
The product once opened has a 12 motnh life to it, which is great just in case you dip in and out of other products, so would not ' go off ' quickly.
The texture of the product is quite light but slightly thick, it does not move arouns in the pot. It is very much a cream and not a lotion, so if you prefer something that looks and feels on the rich side this is a good one. The product for me sinks in well, and leaves skin feeling quite soft and supple. It does not leave my skin looking shiny, but looks and feel moisturised, if that makes sense! To be honest I use it night and day as I like thick textures. I do not have sensitive skin, so the ' soothing ' element does not come into it but I have not had an adverse reactions. It simply is used straight after cleansing or exfoilation depending on what day it is.
The smell does not wow me, it is fresh and has a slight floral fragrance to it, but not sweet floral.Personally not my favourite in regards to smell, but it does not put me off.
Overall a good day cream that probably would suit someone with dry skin because of the texture, and importantly it is affordable, a brand that is well known and I have noticed is on offer in shops quite regularly.
Why did i purchase this moisturiser and how much?
Ever since using a mineral makeup product my skin has been overly sensitive and easily irritated which has led to me seeking soothing moisturisers which calm my red dry skin. I purchased this moisturiser whilst on offer (I paid £3 but it normally retails at £5) approximately 3 months ago and it's only just run out after me using it day and night for that period and I shall be repurchasing it again. The moisturiser boasts that it will sooth dry sensitive skin and contains 95% natural ingredients such as Chamomile and Argan Oil and at the time of purchase I was rather sceptical about this product as I hate it when companies jump on the 'all natural' boat as arsenic, mercury and lead are all natural but that doesn't mean I want to ingest or spread them all over my face. One of the main reasons other than the price which pushed me toward purchasing this product was the fact that it is free of parabens, mineral oils and silicons which is a plus for me as i find these products do tend to irritate my sensitive skin.
Well what did it do?
Well after washing my face with my cream cleanser i applied the moisturiser and found that a little went a long way and the following morning I found that the redness had significantly decreased and the patches of dry skin had improved. After a week of using the product day and night my skin has dramatically improved and there is no redness or irritation and my skin was left calm, clear and bright so I think I have found my personal Holy Grail Moisturiser. The only thing that irritates me about this product is the packaging as the moisturiser comes in a 50ml pot where you have to dip your fingers in and I really dislike this as it's not as hygienic as a pump/squeeze container but then again the product is priced quite reasonably especially when on offer so it's something I can live with.
Would I recommend this product?
With a resounding YES I do higly recommend this moisturiser especially if you have sensitive red sore skin which is need of some TLC. One thing that might be an issue for people is that the product doesn't contain an SPF but this is something I personally prefer as I would use a sunscreen as opposed to relying on a moisturiser and a bit of sunshine doesn't harm the majority of folk. Fingers crossed Nivea don't discontinue this product as it's absolutely fantastic.
My attitude to aging is quite simply this. Get over it, we all have to! I've had my youth, had plenty of fun and I'm not actually bothered about growing old gracefully. At 37 I actually think I look a good few years younger than I am (though I don't feel it lol) and I try to take care of myself the best I can. However I am not fooled into parting cash for this cream and that magic potion because I feel splatting a good quality mayonnaise on my face which is greasy will do much the same thing and is far cheaper lol.
Thats not to say I don't remove my make up and use a moisturiser as I do but not because I believe for a second that it'll take years off me. I use a moisturiser to smooth and soften my skin and this one appealed to me because its called soothing and I do get itchy skin on my face alot and it was on offer at the time I purchased it for £2.50 a jar opposed to usually costing more like £5.00 a jar (in all good good supermarkets and chemists etc).
The jar comes in a mainly white box and on one side of it there is a photograph of a chamomile flower on there and we are told that it is Nivea Visage, Pure & Natural Soothing Day Cream 'For dry to sensitive skin' and that it is 95% in natural origin and contains Bio Argan Oil & Bio Chamomile. On other sides of the box other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, the size is stated which in this case is a 50ml jar, ingredients are given and contact details for Beiersdorf are listed (The manufacturer of the product). The jar is glass and round with a screw on/off white plastic lid to the top of it and on the front of that we are again told what it is is and then on the back contact details for the manufacturer are once listed as is the size. Nice enough, informative packaging this is.

The Cream itself:
Well the cream is white in colour and reasonably thick in consistency though not hard to work with it just isn't drippy or too runny or anything like that. It has a light and very natural fragrance to it of soft flowers that is lovely and fresh and rather unisex really in fragrance and once applied that fragrance disappears in a around an hour anyway.
A little of this goes a very long way indeed, massages into clean skin very well indeed and can be used alone on the skin or under make up as a base, any way you want to use it is fine really!
It dries into the skin literally in seconds and leaves my skin on the outside feeling soft and natural but skin on the inside feels sort of hydrated and more supple and flexible!
This is a wonderful, soothing cream. It stops me itching, it gives me smooth and ungreasy skin and moisturises me for hours very lightly. I do suffer with a greasy face but not with this and in fact I think this helps to keep my skin grease free for longer!
For me this product is great. It doesn't promise to take the years off me, eradicate lines or anything else. It promises to give me smoother and more moisturised skin and it does. Simple and it works brilliantly!
I have been using Nivea Pure & Natural Day Moisturising cream for about 6 months now and would recommend it to most people. There are few moisturisers out there, for the same price (about £4) that could beat it. I have normal/dry skin which is wonderfully moisturised all day after using this product in the mornings post cleansing and toning. It smells lovely and is quickly absorbed, making it a good base before applying make-up or for use during the day whenever your skin needs a bit of a boost. It is however, a bit on the thick side and so it may not be suitable for those with a greasy skin type. It also does not include any kind of SPF protection. The packaging boast that the product is of 95% natural origin, so is perfectly suited to those who are concerned about applying layers and layers of artificial chemicals to their skin. The 50ml jar seems to last me ages, even though I use it every day, making the price even more reasonable!
