I quite like Nivea products and I have been using the Nivea range for years, since I was in my teens. I always use a facial toner at night after I have removed my make up as it gets rid of all the nasty impurities. In fact, at weekends, when I tend not to wear any make up at all, I still use a toner at the end of the day to freshen up my skin before I apply a good quality moisturiser. I feel it is an essential part of my daily beauty routine.
I like to use Nivea Visage Refreshing Toner. I buy the 200ml sized bottle and whist this normally retails at just over £3.50 a bottle in most supermarkets, I was lucky enough to be able to find a bottle for only £1.99 in Wilkinson's. I don't think it's old stock as I have used this toner lots of times before and my current bottle works just as well as any of the ether bottles I have used - it also doesn't have a 'gone off' type of smell.
I have a pretty normal skin, I suppose, but this toner says it is designed for those with normal to combination type skins. I have a slightly oily T zone so I thought this might be perfect for my needs, and I was right. It seems to suit my skin type perfectly. I use this toner just like I do any other facial toner. I simply add a few drops to clean cotton wool balls after cleansing my face. I use it all over he face and neck area (omitting the delicate eye area) and it really does remove all those traces of grease and dirt that are not visible to the naked eye. You can see the colour change on the used cotton pad which looks slightly grey - this shows the amount of dirt still left on my face after cleansing! It's really quite impressive.
It feels kind and gentle on my skin and gives me a mild tingling sensation, especially on my brow and neck area. I really feel like it closes up my pores and the smell is light and delicate and lovely and fresh.
The bottles last me for ages even though I use this toner every night. I only need to use a small amount and so it lasts such a long time. It also seems to hydrate my skin slightly and I don't feel like I have a 'tight' face after I have used it as can happen with some harsher facial toners.
Overall, it's a product I am really impressed with - especially as I got it at such a low price this time. Highly recommended.
I use nivea facial skin care products quite a lot as i find them to be a good quality product at a reasonable price. I bought this skin toner last year and i absolutely love it. It has a gorgeous fragrance and is really gentle on the skin. There have been other toners i have tried in the past which have made me skin feel really tight and sore, however this is so gentle and like the product says, it feels extremely refreshing on the skin. I have also found that with some toners it takes a few times to get the excess cleanser off with the toner, but this product it comes off really quickly. I would highly recommend this product to anyone, as it is good value for money, makes your skin feel fantastic, clean, does not dry your skin out and has a really nice frangrance to it. Brilliant product!
Nivea, a well known and trusted brand, does it again with this toner. Most other cosmetic brands stings and or or dries out the skin - completely stripping essential oils to maintain healthy skin - this toner doesn't, nor is it greasy or heavy on the skin. In a smal, neat sleek package with minimal waste, the delicate scented blue liquid can easily be squeezed onto a cotton ball in a little or a generous squirt. The flip top cap closes and opens with ease, shuts securely and its safe to pop it in your bag to use throughout the day. It cleanse and tones the skin without stripping off essential oils, the skin does look clean and the healthy glowing skin comes through.
I recommend sticking with this brand and hope Nivea does not change the format or packaging - why change something that works? A lovely product that deserves more acclaim.
Trying out new beauty products is a real passion of mine where I frequently find myself browsing at the array of brightly coloured bottles, tubes and tubs contained within the beauty aisles of high street stores. Toners have been an essential part of my beauty regime since my teenager years, as they are used for cleansing the skin and shrinking the pores due to their alcohol content.
Taking time to choose the correct products for my skin, which I would describe as T-zone is important, so I always ensure that I purchase those that are suited for my skin type. Tempted by the appearance of the packaging, which offers a clean and fresh image in addition to the marketing blurb displayed on the front of the bottle, was the deciding factor for my purchase and this review discusses my experience with using Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Refreshing Toner.
Trust is a word I would use to describe Nivea, a brand who have been producing skin care products for over 100 years, so I felt assured that the toner would assist in keeping my T-zone skin under control. There are three facial products, which form an essential part of my daily routine where I will cleanse, tone, then moisturise and in doing so I am able to effectively manage my skin. Turquoise in colour is the bottle with a clear liquid content with the overall appearance fitting in well with the Nivea brand, which I always consider to be caring for the skin.
Tipping up the 200 ml bottle of toner, which is presented within a sturdy plastic container, enables a small amount of the liquid to be dispensed onto my cotton wool ball via the tiny opening located under the firmly attached flip top lid. This is both easily opened and closed, which is a huge benefit, particularly as I've previously owned many products where the hinged area will snap after only a few uses. Touching my skin with the cotton wool offers a wonderfully cool and refreshing sensation and I am able to witness a delicate and favourable fragrance, which I discovered is natural lotus flower extract that is known for its antioxidant properties.
Thorough cleansing is achieved by applying the toner on a regular basis, where I will use morning and night and I have the assurance that the ingredients, which include vitamins, are caring for my skin. Troubles I experience with some brands are a slight burning sensation due to the alcohol content, which can often cause a little tightness. Thankfully, I cannot admit to suffering any major concerns other than a delicate tingling directly following application, which soon vanishes.
Traces of dirt and grime can often be witnessed on the white cotton wool ball, so the toner is clearly effective at carrying out its job by leaving my skin squeaky clean. Tackiness and residue is evident for approximately five minutes following application; after which the toner dries resulting in soft and smooth skin. True to their word, Nivea have created a product that leaves my skin feeling fresh and invigorated although I'm not sure I could agree with my skin being hydrated as I don't believe toners can achieve this, particularly when they contain alcohol.
Testing has been carried out where the toner has been dermatologically approved. Throwing away the bottle following 12 months of opening is with recyclable waste.
Tesco seems to be the best store to purchase this product as until 28 August 2012 it is listed at half price at £1.49. To save even more money Tesco are currently promoting a Clubcard Voucher Exchange on a larger number of categories; one of which is skincare.
Top marks are awarded to this toner due to the reasons discussed above, as it ticks every box for me and as a result, it receives my full recommendation.

Nivea Visage Refreshing Toner
I have no loyalty to any particular skin care brands but tend to pick up ivea products when I need them as they usually suit my skin.
This toner promises to give normal and combination skin effective moisturisation during cleansing. It apparently keeps the skins natural moisture balance supple all day, and has (so the information tells me) been especially developed by Nivea Laboratories to meet the specific cleansing needs of normal and combination skin.
**How does it do this?...**
The toner is enriched with Lotus Extract and Vitamins which will help to keep skin hydrated, whilst dirt and residues are removed. My skin will be refreshed, clarified and invigorated.
All well and good if the claims are true!
**Product and Packaging...**
The plastic bottle is quite simple, and the usual Nivea predominantly blue colour. Even the toner, when looked at through the bottle, appears to be blue, but when applied to cotton wool thankfully comes out clear. The bottle has a flip up, press down to close lid and the toner is dispensed through a hole in the bottle. The toner has a very very slight smell, nothing which is discernibly the smell of anything I recognise but if I were to describe it, then it is more medicinal than floral.
**How to use the toner...**
It is recommended that the toner is used morning and night after cleansing and before applying moisturiser. I apply it using cotton wool and ensure I avoid my eye area in case it stings.
**Price and Availability...**
The toner costs about £4 for a 200ml bottle, and is widely available in chemists and supermarkets. Because it lasts ages, it is very good value for money as just a couple of squirts onto cotton wool seems to do the trick
The toner is reasonably priced and easy to use- I simply sweep the wet cotton wool pad over my skin. This manages to clean my skin quite thoroughly and all traces of dirt missed during the cleansing are removed. It is also very gentle on my skin and although I can feel my pores tightening slightly, there is no stinging sensation.
For anyone who likes to add toning to their skin care regime I would recommend this
