Nivea Visage Tinted Moisturising Day Cream
Advantages: Great price, evens out skin tone and hides dark circles quickly and easily and lasts all day.
Disadvantages: Not quite as moisturising as I would like.
As a result I find myself using tinted moisturisers almost daily. They're perfect for just evening out my skin tone and covering those dark circles without the need of a twenty minute make-up application session. For those mornings where I'm in a rush to get to work tinted moisturisers are a god send!
I found this particular tinted moisturiser on offer recently in my local Tesco costing just £1.75 for a 50ml bottle. For less than £2 I didn't hesitate to give this a try, if I didn't like it for whatever reason I hadn't wasted too much money and, if I did like it, I'd found myself a bargain and could stock up whilst they were still on offer! Even at full price this is still pretty budget friendly at just £3.65 from Boots and Superdrug.
The moisturiser comes in a cardboard box which displays the Nivea logo, product name and plenty of product details. The shade is 'natural' which seems to be the only shade available. Being very pale I was a little worried this would be too dark for me (most one shade only products are) but, as it was so cheap, I didn't worry about it too much. The box informs us this is suitable for all skin types, that it 'moisturises and evens skin tone for a healthy looking complexion' and that it contains light reflecting pigments and vitamin E. Opening this white box reveals a white wide tube with clear plastic lid which basically copies the layout of the box it comes in almost exactly which does make me wonder what exactly the point in the box is.
Upon taking off the lid and squeezing out a little of the product onto my finger my first thought was 'this is far too dark for me'. It's a medium beige colour whereas my skin is probably best described as porcelain (if we ignore the bright redness of it anyway)! Before I'd even applied this to my face I was thinking about which friend I could offer this too.
I was, however, very pleasantly surprised to find that this isn't too dark for me at all. When rubbed into the face it becomes much paler and actually matches my skin tone pretty well! It adds a little more colour to my face without it looking orange or even like I've applied make-up. I was actually very impressed with that first of all!
You really don't need to use much of this either; a pea sized blob is an adequate amount for the entire face, often with enough left over to extend down to the neck too. This means I can see my 50ml bottle lasting a good few months which further makes me feel like this is very reasonable priced - even at full price.
My next worry was that this would irritate my skin as it's so sensitive, as a general rule I don't use anything on my face unless specifically made for sensitive skin but, again, the price of this got me a little too excited to even think of that in the shop! Once again this tinted moisturiser gave me a nice little surprise when I found my skin didn't react to it at all so this is safe for sensitive skin also.
The colour aspect of this tinted moisturiser is lovely. It covers up my dark circles under my eyes well and doesn't even require a little extra help from concealer. It evens out my skin tone perfectly and is very lightweight allowing my skin to easily breathe. The coverage this gives is light and won't hide blemishes or spots but then it's a tinted moisturiser and not a foundation so that doesn't bother me. The coverage is a good as I expect from such a product and really does last all day so I can't complain.
The moisturising aspect, however, isn't quite so good. I do still use my regular day cream in conjunction with this as I don't find this moisturises as much as I would like. I do think it'd be adequate during the summer months - it's not like the day cream aspect is none existent or anything but during these colder months my skin tends to become a little dry and I do need an extra moisture boost. Combined with my usual day cream though this is lovely. It still leaves my skin feeling soft and supple as well as giving it that even and healthy looking complexion.
I'd like to give this four and a half stars although I round it up to five. If it gave more moisture then this would be perfect. For the price I really don't feel you can complain at all. It adapts really nicely to my skin tone, gives even and long lasting coverage and is quick to apply meaning my face can look decent(ish) in a matter of minutes. I really like this and have since been back to Tesco to buy a few more tubes whilst on offer although I'll happily pay full price for another tube when needed!
Summary: A really nice tinted moisturiser for those days when my face needs a little pick me up!
