As I am getting that bit older, I am noticing more and more that my skin is looking dull at times. I've always suffered with dry skin particularly in winter, and my skin has definitely slowed down its own shedding, and it can leave me with more blackheads and spotty outbreaks as I try and treat obvious dry patches with extra moisturiser. The best treatment is to smooth the dryness by promoting shedding where it is needed through using an exfoliator. I fell in love with my exfoliator of choice, the dermologica age-smart one, but at £40 a tube, I am not going to start using this 2-3 times a week as I would be spending more than I want to. So I have been trying other exfoliators to see which ones are actually any good. A lot of facial washes have exfoliating particles in them, and frankly I feel most of the time they do nothing for me. My husband has been using up one of the washes and it seems to work really well on his skin, but I find this type of facial wash is not tough enough for me. So when I had a £5 off no 7 purchases for Boots, I had a good browse of the no 7 range to buy myself a little treat, and came across this radiance exfoliator, I was tempted to have a try of it and see if I like it. A 75ml tube retails for £8, so with a voucher it is a £3 bargain. The no 7 range is also regularly on 3 for 2 promotion. I thought it was worth a try as it is a big saving from £40 if I liked it. Well, I have to say, I will not be completely stopping my purchase of the dermologica version, but I now use this one to make that one last longer. I will use this maybe once or twice in the week, then use my dermologica one for a big boost maybe every 1-2 weeks. So what makes this one a bit better than those other facial washes I have tried? Well, I find I can actually feel bits of pumice in this which actually remove the thicker patches of dead skin cells, and it does leave my skin looking cleaner and brighter. So in terms of physical exfoliation, this really is a good match. However, the dermologica version also contains chemical exfoliants so you get a much deeper cleanse than with this version which leaves my skin so soft it is like a child's soft skin. If I had not tried the dermologica version, I would probably be singing the praises of this more as I find that although you can feel it working, it is still gentle enough on my skin to use it without leaving my skin red and it is a really creamy wash that I could use every day if I wanted without problems, though recommended use is 1-2 times per week. The dermologica version in contrast I need to use on an evening when I am not going out again as I do find my skin sometimes looks red after use. The smell of this is a little floral, but only really mild, so it feels like a gentle clean but you get fairly decent results from it. I feel it is more suited to more mature skin. It might be too tough on teenage skin that doesn't really need this sort of product. I find it is really easy to get the amount needed from the flip top tube, and it seems that a small amount goes quite far so it lasts ages. I also find it is easy to remove all residue of this product from my face washing with warm water, and I like that there is a 24 month expiry after opening, so it is not going to go off before I use it. I think exfoliation is something I didn't realise was quite so important till I tried a good product. It has certainly made my skin a lot easier to handle than it ever has been before. For the first time in years, my skin is usually quite clear with occasional hormonal breakouts. This product is certainly one that fits into my budget and I am happy to use, and it is part of why my skin is easier to handle these days. I certainly recommend this.
