I love lotions and potions and I am familiar with most beauty brands and products available. However, when I received a bottle of Nuxe oil as part of a birthday present I was intrigued as I had never heard of it! My interest increased as I inspected the bottle and read the words "multi use dry oil" I had no idea what this meant!
In times of need and confusion only one place can provide answers - Google. So I did a quick Google and found rather favourable reviews about the product and its uses. It is to be used in virtually any way you desire - for adding moisture to dry ends of hair, providing a shimmer and gloss on top of a tan, to use sparingly mixed in with moisturiser for a subtle glow or in lip balm for a more glossy pout! Well these are some of the ways I tried to use it anyway with varying success!
I first tried it as a hair product as there has been a lot of buzz about hair oils in the beauty sector recently after the success of Morrocanoil which I have yet to try. My hair is dry at the ends due to colour damage but I regularly use a finishing cream to overcome this. I decided to use the Nuxe oil instead and applied it to dry hair. Admittedly it is great at taming frizz but it doesn't seem to penetrate the hair shaft very well it just masks the dryness but my hair still feels dry and straw like unlike when I use other styling products. Also the smell isn't exactly pleasant but having said that it is not unpleasant either, it is very hard to describe it just smells well... oily!! I know this isn't a great description but there are no other words to describe it! I want my hair to smell fresh and clean not weighed down and oily!
I also used it on my face which was not a success I have combination skin to begin with and even used sparingly the glitter and oiliness was just too much and did not create the desired effect!
Its best uses are on the lips and body. It has very, very small flecks of gold in the oil which makes it somewhat mesmerizing to work with it is like some godly elixir but this also makes it great at highlighting your best features! It is great when applied over tan on collarbones and legs. Whichever way you use it a little goes a long way which perhaps justifies the expensive price to the producers.
Overall I was not very impressed with this product it looks gorgeous and is no doubt tempting but I will definitely not be purchasing again. I think as an idea it is great and there is nothing else like it - I love multi-purpose products but this one was poorly executed.
