I have been using Olay products for years and am quite loyal, I generally always replace one tub with another new tub after I have finished with it and that was the case this time although I went for a slightly different product and decided to try their anti wrinkle firming cream which I hadn't used before up until this point. I'm getting older and decided its time I pay attention to my wrinkles, well lack of them at the moment and thats the way I'd like to keep it and was hoping this cream would help.
The cream was on special in Boots for around £6 when normally a 50ml tub retails for £9 so I thought it was quite a good deal and to be honest thats what made me buy this one this time rather than my usual Olay cream.
The cream comes in a tub with a screw top lid. The lid is quite wide so you can really reach into the tub and get enough cream on your finger to rub it all over your face. Olay say this wrinkle cream expertly combines an age-defying cream which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They give you directions for use on the side of the packaging. You are to gently apply this moisturiser every morning onto your face and neck and they say, "you'll look like you on a good day, every day." This sounded good so I was excited to try this cream and see if it could provide me with a flawless face.
When you open the tub you can see that the cream is really thick and luxurious. I always like it when you open a new tub of cream and some of the product is still on the lid. The cream here has gone now but when I opened it up the cream was nice and swirly and you can see the thickness. The cream is white and looks nice and clean and something that you would want to put on your face. Apparently the cream is fragrance free but I think it has a hint of a fresh flowery smell to it but only a hint and its more fresh and clean than scented.
The cream is also said to be artificial dye-free and oil free. When you apply it to your face you can really feel it coating your face and it smoothes over my skin really well but given that it has no oil in it it is not slimy or sticky and it sinks into my skin well just making it feel really nice and soft and smooth. Well,a s for my wrinkles as I don't have any at the moment I can't see this cream getting rid of them but I am hoping since it makes my skin feel so nice that it is preventing wrinkles from appearing in the future.
I love using products which really look after the skin, so a firming day cream with SPF15 and anti-wrinkle properties from my favourite skincare brand Olay was always going to be something I would buy! I purchased this from Boots with a £5 off voucher which made it £4.99 instead of the usual £9.99.
I'm only 25 but I love the sun and my mum has always warned me that you can never be too careful with your face. For that reason, I tend to buy skin creams with SPF that protect the skin from premature ageing. The packaging on this Olay cream states that the cream is 'proven to visibly smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles'. It contains anti-ageing vitamins B3 and E as well as pro vitamin B5 and green tea extract which helps skin look healthy and young.
How to use (from packaging)
Directions: Apply liberally and gently massage onto your face and neck. Easily absorbed and provides an excellent base for make up. Younger looking skin in 4 weeks.
Caution: Avoid eye contact. Discontinue use if signs of irritation or rash appear. Keep out of reach of children.
What's good about it?
I find that Olay products always have a lovely smell. This cream is no different with an almost floral fragrance. It feels lovely and cool on the skin, which is really soothing and the cream leaves the skin really soft and supple. It isn't greasy at all and absorbs quickly into my skin so there's no stickiness or tightness.
This is a day cream with SPF15 which makes me feel more confident going outside with any sun exposure and it's a great base to go underneath foundation or powder. It also has anti-wrinkle properties which is great for young people worried about prematurely ageing skin and also the more mature skin with fine lines and wrinkles which it is primarily aimed at. At 25 I don't have many wrinkles yet so I couldn't say quite how effective it is in reducing their appearance but it definitely makes my skin feel tighter (in a good way!). The packaging is classy and elegant giving the impression of an expensive cream. I also find that you don't have to use much of it and that it lasts a long time!
This product basically has everything that I want in a cream all in one. It is one of the best I've used and at £9.99 it's a bargain. I know people who pay over £25 for moisturiser and day creams which I would not consider when there are products like this on the market. Olay is a reasonably priced brand and with the deals that are regularly on at Superdrug or Boots, you can often pick this product up for around £5.
Would definitely recommend. 4/5
==Olay Anti Wrinkle night Cream==
I am a firm believer of looking after ones skin as best as possible as to do this I always make sure I use plenty of moisturising cream both morning and evening. This does mean that I go through creams like there is no tomorrow so generally try to pick up the creams that are on offer.
This is how I ended by buying this Olay Anti Wrinkle Night Cream because the half price offer which Boots were offering caught my eye. The usual retail price of this cream is £9.99 pence in Boots but I managed to get it at £4 because of using my 10% discount card and getting it for half price. This price is really good in comparison to a lot of other anti wrinkle night creams that are available especially for a pot of this 50 ml size.
The cream itself is not only supposed to offer anti wrinkle properties, but it also claims to give the skin a firming boost and work in keeping the skin looking young and fresh. It contains vitamin B3 and E and pro vitamin B5 and antioxidants making sure it can visibly reduce the apperance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The little pot is made of a thick cloudy glass and has a dark blue plastic screw top lid. The look of the product is not overly appealing and generally looks like an old ladies face cream as I don't think the style of the pot has changed a lot since the Olay brand began.
However the cream inside the pot is what really matters and with this Olay Anti Wrinkle night cream the product is very good. The thick and creamy looking product only has a very slight aroma to it which smells clean and fresh.
The cream should be applied to freshly washed skin and as it is a night cream the best time to use the cream is just before bed. The cream is very thick so really a little of it foes a long way which always pleases me as the pot of cream will in theory last longer!
The cream is cooling and silky as it smooths over the skin and because of the fact that it is so rich, it does take a while for the cream to sink in and this is why unlike some other night creams with this one you really can't use it at any other time than in the evening. After around 30 minutes the cream has completely disappeared into the skin and it is left feeling plump, soft and refreshed.
In the morning I really notice the difference when I haven't used this cream and perhaps chosen instead to use a different night cream. Over the couple of months that it took to use this cream up I can't honestly say that I noticed much firming or indeed fine line reduction but bearing in mind I am only 27 and just trying to keep the fine lines and sagging away! Indeed I haven't acquired any lines or drooping either so this is a plus really.
As a general night cream this Olay Anti Wrinkle Night Cream is a good one. It is thick and creamy but sinks in well and leaves the skin feeling really nice. I can't really give any sort of idea how it would work on the skin of an older more lined lady but at this price it is certainly worth a try!
For my own experiences from using this cream I have to say that I am very pleased and award it a 4 out of 5 star rating and really the minus mark only being for the old design of the tub.
All in all a good night cream!
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Olay is definitely one of my favourite brands of skincare, I find that they always deliver good quality products which are great value for money.
I bought this moisturiser in Superdrug for £5, it was half price and would normally cost £10 which is a fairly average price for this product. The product comes in a 50ml jar and is also SPF15 which is essential for me in a day time moisturiser.
According to the Olay website, this cream is aimed for women over 40 and is aimed to 'firm skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.' I didn't realise this when I bought it, as I'm only in my twenties but I decided it couldn't do any harm so I used it anyway!
The cream is white and has a lovely sunny smell to it, it reminds me of the smell of Pantene shampoo, but as both products are made by Proctor & Gamble, it's not surprising that the scent is similar.
The packaging is fairly functional, nothing exciting but it does fit in with the concept of a 'classic' range.
The cream itself is quite thick, and a little really does go a long way, I'm always surprised by how little I need to use and at the same time how well it moisturises my face. I have noticed that the skin around my jaw line does feel a little bit tighter now that I've been using the cream for about a month, which surprised me because I didn't think that that my skin needed firming yet, but I really have noticed how much tighter it feels. I don't have all that many lines or wrinkles (yet) so as to how effective the cream is on reducing the appearance of these I couldn't say.
Although this is really an anti-wrinkle cream, it does moisturise very well. I've used other brands of anti wrinkle creams in the past and found that they simple don't moisturise very well at all, but all of the Olay anti-wrinkle products I've tried always leave your face smooth and well moisturised.
I really like this cream and would recommend it to any age group not just the 40+ that it is recommended for. It's a great moisturiser which is reasonably priced and does exactly what it promises.
