I have incredibly sensitive skin which can often be painful and I used to spend a lot of money on expensive brand moisturisers to avoid the dry eczema and painful red skin I would suffer. However I have now been using Olay complete care UV fluid for ten years and it is just as good as the premium brands but without the price tag. The great thing about Olay is that they cater for all skin types - there is a complete care UV fluid for dry combination skin, combination oily skin and sensitive skin. I use the combination oily type every day (and occasionally use the sensitive one during winter when my skin is suffering a little).
The packaging is nothing special - simple and classic but typical of Olay, and it can be a little frustrating when you are reaching the end of the bottle as you really have to hit the bottom of the bottle hard to get the last bits of product out. The moisturiser itself is practically unscented, with perhaps a hint of a fragrance to it. The texture is very light (the sensitive type is slightly thicker than the combination oily) and soaks into the skin very quickly. However it is very moisturising and makes skin feel very comfortable, even on the driest areas. You just have to be a little careful as if you missed rubbing in a little bit it can leave a white streak but this is very easily rectified.
This product is also a great base for makeup - it allows foundation to glide on smoothly and can even be mixed a little with foundation to give a sort of tinted moisturiser. The price of this product is absolutely fantastic for the quality, especially with the offers you can find on Olay, and in comparison to the premium brands Olay is easily on par with them.
I first picked this up in Asda on special offer for £4.50. It usually retails for between £4 - £6. I was an avid user of the Simple daily UV moisturizer but over time my skin had developed a resistance to it and it was actually causing my oily skin to become even oily - not exactly the look I was going for! I've had touch an go issues with Olay products in the past but the cheap price tag drew me in, as well as the 'normal/oily' skin recommendation for the product. It also claimed to; 'leave skin healthy looking in just 5 days', well there was the challenge! Always willing to try out something new I purchased the moisturiser and set off!
The 100ml bottle comes in a white and yellow box, the bottle itself is a small hard white plastic bottle with a black screw lid. Its simple packaging is nothing fancy, so don't expect it to stand out on your bathroom shelf. The box itself contains all of the product information, keeping the bottle clear and simple. The only issues I have with study bottles is that a lot of the product will cling to the inside, meaning you'll be hard pushed to get your full 100mls unless you take a small saw to the bottle! So far I haven't had to do this as the moisturiser doesn't seem to actually cling to the inner walls like most others do! Impressive! The bottle is sturdy but squeezable enough and if stored upside down you will get more of the product out much easier towards the end.
The moisturiser is quite a thin liquid. Cream based which I wasn't initially expecting as most moisturisers designed for oily skin are gel based. With some trepidation I applied a double pea sized amount as instructed. At first, my skin was extremely shiny, especially around the t-zone, but, within around 5 minutes my skin had absorbed the product and my skin had a more overall mattified, even appearance. My t-zone was still a little shiny, but a quick tissue dab cleared this up! The moisturiser is non greasy and contains anti oxidants and vitamin E! Very skin loving indeed! I always use a SPF moisturiser, and this one boasts SPF15, with both UVA and UVB protection. SPF 15 is the dermatological recommendation for minimum level daily UV protection, reducing the risk of skin damage. No matter your age or the season, an SPF is a must in your skin care product!
Apply a double pea sized amount to your finger tips and apply in circular motions upwards and outwards, don't forget your neck and ears too! The product absorbs quickly into the skin and you can dab away any excess. It works well under my mineral makeup, creating a nice base that does not cause the make up to thicken or clump, especially in problem areas. I have not tried this under liquid foundation but would presume that would cause oily skin to act out, so make sure you apply a finishing powder after the liquid foundation to control excess shine.
As above, I love that it has SPF15 and it protects against both UVA and UVB rays (a lot of moisturisers on the high street only protect against one or the other). It's full of everything your skin needs to look and feel nourished and gives 24 hour protection and moisturisation. Containing B3, E and B5 vitamins, it helps to re-texturise, as well as promoting and maintaining healthy looking skin. And as for the 5 day challenge? I started to see visible noticeable results within just 3 days. Almost 12 months on and my skin is looking healthy, even and refreshed. It hasn't aggravated my oily skin or my acne, and I've also found my acne breakouts clearing up much quicker than in the past. It has little to no fragrance and seems to work well with my sometimes sensitive skin.
Too much can leave skin looking too shiny, but that's down to the user's application. If you follow the instructions and apply it in small amounts you should be able to avoid over doing it.
The good far out weighs the bad and I have been reluctant to try many other moisturisers since starting to use this one. I have ventured out and tried a few others but I always return back to my Olay daily fluid. Any reactions I have unfortunately had with other products are quickly rectified within just a few days of going back to Olay too. Olay loves my skin and my skin loves Olay! It's price tag makes it very affordable and it is often on special offer in the supermarkets or the likes of Boots and Superdrug.
I have been using this moisteriser for around a year now. My mother recommended it to me and from the first time I tried it, I knew it was perfect and didn't want to go back to any other brand! I have naturally oily skin (particularly in the t-zone area) so for me, I want my skin moisterised while not appearing greasy. I use it twice a day (morning and night) and only a small 10p sized amount goes a long way.
It definitely makes me skin feel soft and cared for, it's important for me to have at least SPF 15 in my facial products, so having the sun protector in there is a real bonus. The scent of the cream is lovely, neutral but slightly scented to ooze subtle nostalgia of sun tan lotion! The bottle design is simple and solid, there is no way the product would leak from the bottle if it were being carried around.
Overall, this product is a staple in my beauty bag and I would recommend this to women of all skin types that are looking for a cost effective way of protecting and indulging their skin every day.
D reviews on olay complete care daily uv fliud av bin quite helpful cos I just got a pack, just skeptic abt SPF 15,wondering if it's okay for a place like Nigeria in Africa which is sunny all yr round!
Olay is, in my view, one of the best skin care brands you can find. I really love it and have used it for many years, many different products that they offer.
Olay is neither the cheapest or the priciest product on the shelf, but often you can pick up good offers like 3 for 2, etc.
I like this product because it is so light and absorbs so quickly in to your skin. It is not thick and greasy like so many other products. Also it certainly wont give you spots which I find a problem with other products. Also it does not have an overpowering smell which is good.
The biggest plus for me with this cream is that it has got a broad spectrum sun protection factor 15 added to it. That is the recommended level that skin care experts say that you should use on a daily basis for your normal day, and I use it every day. Obviously you need much higher if you are sunbathing. It also has Vitamin E in it which is good for repairing any free radical damage as it is an oxidant. It also has B3 and B5 in it which are necessary for skin repair. So all in all good for anti ageing and general protection.
I also used it recently when I was caught out on a sunny day with no sun lotion, i used it on my arms and chest and it saved me from any burning. It is also lighter to use than normal sun lotion, so while I am not saying it can replace it, for me it was a good alternative when needed.
I usually use Olay's complete cream for sensitive skin but when I noticed Superdrug were doing a 3 for 2 offer across all skincare I saw it as an opportunity to try out something a bit different (that's girl logic for you!), so as well as my usual moisturiser I also bought a bottle of Olay's Complete Care daily UV Fluid for normal or oily skin. I got a 200ml bottle for £9.49, which works out as much better value than my other Olay moisturiser. It's also available as a 100ml bottle for £5.10.
The bottle is quite plain in the usual Olay styling and it does come boxed which I think is unnecessary, if they just put the info that's written on the box on the bottle instead there would be no need to waste cardboard. The bottle is only semi-opaque so you can see how much is left in the bottle, and it has a black screw off lid. The top of the bottle is close necked and has just a small hole to squeeze the product out of which make sit much easier to get the right amount than an open necked bottle where you just pour it out.
It's a white fluid which is very creamy and smells quite like plain soap. The texture is smooth and light and it doesn't have the greasy feel that richer creams do. It spreads really easily over the skin but I do have to use quite a lot at a time to feel that my face has been thoroughly moisturised. It does take a little while to sink in but that's probably just because I use so much of it, and it doesn't feel heavy or sticky even when it hasn't fully sunk in.
This makes my skin feel really soft and very well moisturised but it doesn't leave behind a greasy residue. It doesn't feel heavy and it doens't feel like it's sitting in my pores like a lot of moisturisers can. It doesn't feel greasy and it doesn't make my oily skin look really shiny like so many moisturisers do. It doesn't give a fully mattified effect but it certainly doesn't make my skin oily or shiny. It's also non-comedogenic so it doesn't clog my pores or cause spots.
I only have to use this once and my skin does feel moisturised and comfortable all day and I've really liked the results of using it. It also has an included sun protection factor of 15 which is important if you want to keep your skin looking healthy.
I original tried this moisturiser as a free sample and was immediately converted! It is one of the best I have ever tried and with SPF15 included it is excellent value for money.
A small amount goes a long way as it is not too heavy and gloopy like some brands. It soaks in well and leaves you with silky soft skin that smells nice and fresh. The boyfriend even commented that it smelt nice and not medicinal.
I get quite oily skin at times and this product did not add to the problem. It has actually helped my skin by evening out moisture levels and the dry parts.
I find it's an excellent base under make up due to its quick absorption and softness.
No irritation and can be used on other body parts such as elbows and knees if you accidently poured out too much.
It comes in a squeeze white bottle with the Olay logo on the front and is contained in a white and yellow cardboard box. Product comes out of the neck of the bottle through a small hole and is white in colour. This can be frustrating when you get to the end of the bottle and can't see how much is left and also can't get at it, I often solve this by cutting the bottle in half.
What I found excellent is that for holiday you can easily squeeze some out into a pump dispenser or pot instead of getting it everywhere when moving from one pot to another which I always find gets messy.
I normally buy this product when it is on offer in Boots, Superdrug, or sometimes in supermarkets. I used to buy the smaller 100ml bottle but the 200ml is also good value when on offer and it does frequently seem to be on offer. I did try the small tub version but this tended to be more cream like and also if you accidently leave the top off it would lose some of the product over time in evaporation.
I love this product and recommend it to anyone I can as it comes in both oily/normal and also sensitive formulas.
Try it when it's on offer and I promise you won't look back at your expensive brands.
Olay - a brand that has been around so long it should know what it is doing, and this one hits the spot.
I have been an Olay user since i was a young teenager. My grandmother lived with us, and my cousin bought some for her and she gave it to me as my skin gets horrendously dry. I have used other brands in that time usually bought after seeing something different, but i always go back to this one in the end.
It is neither the cheapest or the priciest product on the shelf. I paid about £8 for my 100ml bottle from Boots. It is a light textured cream that does not have an overpowering smell. I like it because it absorbs into my skin quickly, and doesn't leave it with greasy patches. Some moisturisers i need to use so much moisturiser to deal with dry patches that are mainly in my T zone (nose and forehead) that the next time i look in the mirror i have blocked pores and an outbreak of spots. I have never had this problem with this product. I also find that i can apply it in the morning, and my face does not feel dry or tight for the remainder of the day.
I like the fact that it has got a broad spectrum sun protection factor 15 added to it. That is the recommended level that skin care experts say that you should use on a daily basis for your normal day. Obviously you need much higher if you are sunbathing. It also has Vitamin E in it which is good for repairing any free radical damage as it is an oxidant. It also has B3 and B5 in it which are necessary for skin repair.
As i am getting older, i may move to look for a cream that also has collagen in it to keep my skin supple, but for now with my adult pimples even though i have hit 30, i will be sticking to this one. It does the job at a fair price i can afford without feeling too guilty. Plus, one bottle used just on the face lasts me a much longer time than it should do. It is supposed to be open for 12 months before you bin it, but mine lasts longer than that with no diminishing effects. It probably helps extend the life because i store it in a dark cupboard. If i only had a tenner to spend on beauty i would get this and a cheap lip gloss and be confident that i looked ok.
I have quite oily skin and am very prone to spots even though I am in my late 20s. I tried this moisturiser as it is specifically meant for normal/oily/combination skin types and it also contained SPF 15 which helps to protect skin from the sun's harmful rays. I found this moisturiser to be not too oily and very easily absorbed into the skin. I personally found this fluid to be very mild and it did not irritate my skin or cause me to have any new acne problems. I also found that this cream was very soothing to my skin - leaving it feeling soft, looking well cared for and radiant. In addition, as an avid wearer of daily make-up, I found that this cream provided an excellent base as it left skin feeling soft and smooth. The moisturiser also has quite a subtle scent to it and is not perfumed. Overall, I found this moisturiser to leave my skin feeling healthy and hydrated for the full day, without leaving any oily or greasy residue, as some moisturisers can.
The actual packaging of this moisturiser is quite simplistic. The box is white in colour and clearly states the name of the product and its benefits without being too cluttered. Olay is a recognised brand, has a good reputation and in my opinion, its products can be trusted to provide the consumer with high quality skin care. The packaging conveys this as it has no gimmicks or false promises and just simply states the product name and its purpose. The actual bottle itself is also very simple. It is a traditional bottle shape with a screw on black top which is excellent as it prevents any leakages whilst travelling. My only gripe about the packaging would be that the bottle itself is white and not clear, therefore you are unaware of how much cream there is left in the bottle.
Another small down side to this product is the price. As I am not a massive earner on the money front, £8 is quite a lot for me to spend on a moisturiser. However, the benefits of this cream far out way the disadvantage of the price in my opinion and it can be found for cheaper on the internet or during promotional periods in some stores. Your skin not only feels soft but the effects of this cream are also clearly visible. My skin glows after using this and it looks healthy. I would highly recommend this moisturiser!
Olay Complete Care Daily UV Fluid is available from the following stores:
Lloyds Pharmacy 100ml - £5.29
Boots 200ml - £8.99
Superdrug 100ml - Usually £4.79 but £2.79 on the website at the moment
This is a great value moisturiser for the quality. (especially when its on offer on the high street- so stock up when it is)
Its Olays complete care. You get the quality of an Olay moisturiser and the protection of an SPF, its 15.
Its a light easily absorbed moisturiser thats also available in sensitive.
I started using this a few years ago in my early 20's when I wanted to find a quality moisturiser with an SPF- as apparantly protecting your face from the sun is the best way to prevent ageing and wrinkles.
Well in the few years I have been a dedicated user and my skin is still fresh! But I think I may have to use it for a few more years and report back to see how the wrinkles are going!
It goes on smoothly and never stings around the eye area (which is what I have found with other products in the past) or stays greasy. Its light and lovely and its great to know I am wearing an SPF everyday.
This is great for younger skin or those not worried about fancy anti-ageing creams, You are protected from the dangers of the sun in everyday life and its pleasent to wear as its not greasy.
I would reccommend this to anyone (I have noticed my bottle running out quicker lately though- but discovered my boyfriend is using it- as its 'better than his moisturiser and makes his skin feel nice') its a great price for great quality.
I will be considering the other Olay moisturiser as I get older to fight those signs of ageing but for now this is perfect for me.
When it comes to beauty products, I'm not a very loyal customer! Shampoos and conditioners, I buy what's on offer and I never stick to one brand of make up. However, the one product I always stick to is Olay moisturiser as it is simply the best there is!
My skin is something which I am always complimented on which I attribute entirely to Olay! It's light on the skin and leaves it incredibly smooth. The simplicity of it means it great for sensitive skin as it's not heavy - plus I use it for both my morning and night skin regimes so don't need to spend lots on different creams.
Another advantage is the price. Depending on the size of the bottle, you can get it for around £5. However, if you shop around, there's usually a deal on (buy one get one free, half price, buy the cream and get make up remover wipes free etc). I tend to find the supermarkets best for the deals.
All in all, I'd say it was a great, simple product which is inexpensive but good quality
I recently reviewed Simple's Rich Replenishing daily face lotion, and in many ways this Olay daily sensitive fluid is a remarkably similar product. Like the Simple lotion, this fluid is of a similar light consistency, although possibly a tiny bit less runny, and is easily applied. No rubbing or massaging is needed, which is important for me in a face product. As it spreads quite well you only need quite a small amount, and so the bottle should last for around a month. This is good as it's fairly expensive, at around £3.79 for a 100ml bottle. The bottle itself is pleasant, clean and attractive in white with a black lid, and is recyclable. It's quite easy to squeeze once the contents get low, although might need a bit of tapping to release the dregs at the bottom.
Another similarity with the Simple lotion is one of its faults - I don't find it moisturising enough if my skin has been particularly dry or I'm staying somewhere hot. This may be because of its UV ingredients, or just because it isn't all that thick or creamy, but I find it difficult to apply make-up if this is the only lotion I've been using. This despite the claim on the back of the bottle that says 'an excellent base for make-up'. Perhaps it depends on your skin type - mine does tend to be quite dry.
Factor 15 UV protection is the important ingredient contained in the Olay lotion, which is missing in Simple. While this is great for protecting your skin, the downside is that it can leave you looking quite shiny (as with other UV creams), and I find that I have no choice but to use some powder foundation afterwards in order to mattify my skin.
The lotion is odourless and supposed to be fine for sensitive skin. I can't imagine it causing any irritation, even with the UV properties.
In conclusion I would say this is a very usable, pleasant product, which is worth the money due to containing factor 15 UV filters. If your skin is very dry, you might want to use another moisturiser in addition, or else a medium creamy lotion topped by normal sunscreen.
After trying many different face moisturisers by nivea, simple etc, i absolutely love this product, I have been using this moisturiser for about 10 years now and would never buy anything else! My mum recommended this to me as she has been using it for over 20 years. It is the best moisturiser i have tried so far.
A 100ml bottle costs around £4.98 from boots and £8.99 for a 200ml bottle. Although you are saving £1 in the long run going for the larger bottle, I always go for the 100ml bottle as it is easier to carry around with me in my handbag, and as it lasts me around 4 months, using it every day, i dont really need a 200ml bottle!
I always use my boots advantage card to buy this product. Every four months my boots points balance has usually accumulated at least £5 for this product, so really i get this product free!
You only need the tiniest amount of this product, as it really does go along way! I use a bit more than a pea sized amount, but less than the size of 1p if you get what i mean! It goes on very smoothly, is easily absorbed, doesnt block your pores at all. It doesnt make your skin greasy and is a great base for make up as it leaves such a light finish.
I would never waste my money again on expensive products. It keeps my skin soft and smooth all day and i have never suffered from dry skin whilst using this product.
An added UV protection is also a bonus. This moisturiser claims to protect from UVA and UVB rays that are responsible for over 80% of the signs of aging. So if this product helps me stay looking young its a bargain for only £4.99!! No need for anti aging creams in the future!
It comes in a small handy bottle which does not pour you have to squeeze it so there is no mess if you knock it over.
This product is great value for money and i would deffinately recommend.
i have been using this product for several years now and would certainly recommend it! I use it every morning and evening - or before pttuing makeup on - and find that my skin is always really soft and I don't tend to get spots either - hopefully thanks to this! Some of my friends dont really moisturise and they're always commenting on how soft my cheeks are! When I've run out and haven't been able to use for a few days I really notice the difference, my skin feels much drier. I know everyone has their own skin type but mine seems to benefit! It's also good to know it has some UV protection - you might not always notice the heat but the sun's always there! It might be a bit of an expensive beauty routine but the bottles do seem to last for ages and I think it's worth the cost to look after your face - everyone sees it!
This product is a MUST HAVE for all women. It does a million things in one. The main reason I personally use this product is the fact it has a SPF 15, which is more than enough to protect skin in the not so sunny UK weather, and in the long run will stop the signs of ageing. Another perk this product is the smell, which has a light scent, but not too stong for those who like non scented products. The price range also makes this a must buy, as compared to cheap products that doesnt have the benefit of this, this does a lot more for your skin as it is a dozen products in one. It is a great base for make up, and for those who just want a natural glow, adding a touch of foundation to the fluid before you apply it will make it look more natural. It is suitable for all types of skin, as it is not to oily for people with oily skin, but effective for those will the driest of skin.
The bottle holds enough fluid to get your moneys worth from it, but small enough to travel with wherever you go.
The advanced UV protection system with Vitamin/Mineral complex (SPF 15) effectively helps protect skin from daily environmental damage such as UVA and UVB rays, which are the main cause of premature ageing of the skin /
