I was purchasing some moisturiser which was on offer at my local Morrisons supermarket recently, when I spotted these wet cleansing wipes by Olay priced at only £1 for a pack of 20, which I thought was a good price. Although I have used a few different cleansing wipes to date, I had never actually used any by Olay prior to making this purchase.

As the skin on my face can be quite sensitive at times, I opted for the sensitive wipes instead of the regular ones and looked forward to trying them. Even though I had never purchased Olay wipes previously, I have enjoyed some Olay products over the years, such as their beauty fluid and Everyday Sunshine moisturiser and therefore felt confident about the brand.

The wipes come in a small, handy resealable pack, which means they are ideal to carry around in your handbag. Simply peel away by lifting a flap on the front, remove a wipe, then seal it back down again and the wipes are kept moist and fresh ready for next time. You must dispose of the wipes in a bin and not flush them down the toilet.

These cleansing wipes are especially formulated for sensitive skin and Olay state they have lift and lock technology to gently sweep away dirt, make up and waterproof mascara, whilst helping to enhance your skin's natural moisture.
They are fragrance free, dermatologically tested and won't clog your pores.
You are advised to use the wipes every morning and/or evening to remove dirt and make-up from your face, neck and around the eye area and then follow up with a good moisturiser.

Olay state these wipes will soothe sensitive skin and this is the main reason I was looking forward to using them, as when the skin on my face is particularly sensitive it can feel a little sore or irritable and therefore I looked forward to the 'soothing' abilities using these wipes would provide.
So, I was more than a little surprised when the first time I used one of these wipes I experienced a slight stinging sensation on my face. The skin on my face at that time was not feeling particularly sensitive either, in fact it was fine and I had no discomfort at all prior to using the wipes. However, as soon as I used the wipe I felt a tingling, stinging feeling, which I am glad to say began to ease as soon as I stopped using the wipe. I looked in the mirror expecting my face begin to redden, but it seemed ok, however, the stinging sensation was not what I had expected from using these wipes and it was far from a soothing experience!

On the plus side, the wipes did an effective job of removing make up and cleansing my face, but the slight stinging sensation bothered me.
I used the wipes again the next day and although the stinging sensation was still evident, it was not as bad and as I experienced no reddening of my skin, I continued to use these wipes just to use them up, although I found every time I used them I experienced a stinging sensation of varying degrees.
Because of this, I won't be purchasing these wipes again and can't say they are ideal for sensitive skin as they are certainly not for me. Whilst they effectively removed my make up and cleansed my skin, the stinging sensation was something I had not expected at all. Indeed I experienced no 'soothing' qualities from using these wipes at all.

Of course we are all different and these wipes may well suit someone else's skin perfectly, however I do feel that something which is designed especially for sensitive skin, shouldn't have the stinging effect I experienced and that troubled me. Therefore I can't recommend these wipes to fellow sensitive skin sufferers.
It's a shame as I have always had good experiences with Olay products and so it is a pity I cannot recommend these cleansing wipes.
