I saw this face wash in every single store I went into for the past couple of months and thus, gave in and decided to buy it when my previous one almost finished. I do research a lot before buying drugstore skin care brands just because anything and almost everything gives me spots. I have to make sure its moisturizing, gentle, hydrating, etc. I tried it a couple of days after buying it for 2 pounds and 99 pence from my local pharmacy and just gently rubbed it into my dampened face.
It is just a daily face wash so there are not any beads or anything that cause a little bit of friction on the skin. It almost felt like baby wash to me. It foamed up nicely, not too much, but just little bubbles and it did feel quite oily, thus moisturizing! I washed it off with a couple of splashes of cold water and just dried my face with a face towel. It felt clean, not squeaky clean, but just clean. After using it a few times I realized, this is just a very basic face wash. If you want to get the days dirt off your face and makeup etc, this is just not going to work. You do need something that really does deep clean. However, for teenagers who have delicate and sensitive skin, this is perfect. It has a very subtle scent of freshness and isn't at all harsh on the skin. I have set this face wash aside for days when I am staying at home, thus not accumulating much dirt or dust on my face from throughout the day. Again it is very very basic, but I have to say, I do like it because it didn't dry my skin out at all or cause irritation or redness and nor did it cause me to breakout on my face which was a big relief. Therefore I would recommend it for sensitive skin or normal skin types.
As I've been having some issues with my skin lately, I've been very careful about which products I use as I find a lot of facial products can leave my skin red and blotchy. I also have regular hormonal outbreaks of spots at the moment, which is really annoying because I thought those days were long gone in my teenage years! Apparently Mother Nature has decided she isn't done with me yet, so I've been choosing gentle products until my skin clears up a bit.
This face wash from Olay caught my attention because I thought it was very reasonably priced for a branded product. I bought mine from Home Bargains for £1.99, and I've noticed it's priced the same in most supermarkets and even in Boots. This makes it a much more affordable option for a branded product.
The face wash is advertised as being suitable for "normal/dry/combo" skin, which pretty much covers all options really. It is, however, specially formulated for gentle everyday cleansing, which is what convinced me to give it a try. It is made up of a formulation of "caring cleansing ingredients", including extracts of Aloe and Cucumber.
The packaging is as you would expect for a gel based face wash. It has a flip top lid at the base which allows the product to sink to the bottom, ensuring you get good value for money by using as much of the product as you can get your hands on. The lid closes very firmly which is good for anyone who travels a lot, as there's no need to worry about leaking or spillages. The packaging is now a bit more eye-catching than the Dooyoo picture, as it's black with blue and pink writing rather than being boring white.
The smell of this face wash is incredibly pleasant, it smells very girly and floral but also fresh and modern rather than being a traditional floral smell. I find it really uplifting washing my face with this cleanser. The instructions suggest using a pea sized amount, and I find this is adequate even when removing make-up. It lathers really well and gets quite foamy on the face, in fact I'd advise wearing a headband when using this as you're likely to get some foam in your hairline without it. It has the consistency of a gel, although is quite thick rather than being runny, and it's clear in colour.
Once you've lathered and gently massaged your face with this face wash, it's simply a case of removing all residue with warm water and gently patting your face dry. I love the feeling of my skin after using this, as it doesn't feel tight or dry like it does after using most face washes. It just feels clean and refreshed as the fragrance makes it feel cleaner than other products I've used which are unfragranced. I can also tell it has done a good job of cleaning any dirt or make-up off my face, because it doesn't leave horrible make-up coloured stains on the towels like some products can. This puts my mind at ease that at least I don't have any germs on my face which might aggrevate my skin or cause further breakouts by blocking my pores.
The packaging recommends that you apply the appropriate Olay moisturiser for your skin type after using this face wash, well they would really wouldn't they?! I tend to use whatever moisturiser I'm using at the time, and this completes the routine and rehydrates my skin after any moisture that's been lost.
As a make-up remover, I would always use something specially designed for the eye area if I was removing eye make-up, however recently I found myself in a hotel room realising I'd forgotten my make-up remover, so I just lightly covered my eyelids whilst using this face wash. I then rinsed, and used a tissue to remove any residue, and was pleased to see the tissue was covered in mascara and eyeshadow, so the face wash had managed to remove my make-up. Obviously, I wouldn't recommend using this near the eye area without caution, but it didn't sting or hurt my eyes, so I was happy to use it as a temporary make-up remover.
Overall, I've been very pleased with the performance of this face wash, and with the price being so reasonable, and the cleansing effective and gentle, I see no reason to change anytime soon.

When it comes to face washes rather than shopping around all the time I like to stick with what I know works. All through my teens I searched for the perfect face wash for me and found 9 times out of 10 that the face washes I was trying either dried out my skin quite badly or gave my skin a bit of a bad reaction - so rather than go through all that I attempt to use one I know works all the time. However when I ran out of my usual tube of facewash a few weeks back I found myself in a dilemma - weeks before payday so no way of replacing it & not wanting to go to work with a dirty face (lol) so I had no choice but to reach for the only facewash available to me at the time, my moms tube of 'Olay Gentle Cleansers - Refreshing Face Wash' - which obviously I was reluctant to try given previous experience. I shouldn't have bothered in all honesty this was hands down the most awful face wash I have ever used - which might shock some people considering the very positive reviews from others - but for me it was so awful and Id never use this again!!
Price: From having a look around a few different websites this can be picked up pretty cheaply for around £3 for a 150ml tube.
Stockists: Boots, Superdrug + Amazon all stock this product.
Other Info: According to the Boots website this product is aimed at people with Dry, Normal & Combination skin so pretty much anyone SHOULD be able to use and get good results from this. It promises to lift away dirt and make-up to leave your skin cleansed and refreshed.
Pretty standard for a product of this kind - maybe a little boring but effective nonetheless and very fitting with the brand. The tube I have contains 130ml of the product (I believe my mom might have got this as part of an Olay set) and is white and light blue in colour. On the front and back of the tube is all the necessary information on the product - ingredients, directions for use, shelf life (12M) and there is also a website, phone number and address that you can contact the makers on should you have any extra questions. On the bottom of the tube is the usual flip top which is easy enough to open even with wet hands - I tend to use this in the shower - and seems to be very secure once closed so good for travelling and taking around with you should you need to. Standard and effective - but not particularly eye-catching.
As I said I tend to use this whilst Im in the shower as you will need to apply this to wet skin for it to work better. You simply squeeze a pea size amount onto your hands, lather it up a bit and then massage it into your face and neck. Then dry your face and for best results (apparently) moisturise afterwards. Nothing out of the ordinary there - and using it actually is the one part that's easy . It lathers up pretty well and you only need a really small amount when using this so one tube will last a really long time and your not messing about for ages applying this and getting it off. If I was just going on ease of application alone I'd be singing this face washes praises.
Is That My Skin Flaking?:
Let me start this section by saying I would say I fit into the 'Normal' skin category - it gets occasionally dry when the weathers turns colder but not very badly at all and a quick bit of lotion on my face sorts that out straight away. However when using this it made my skin feel and look ridiculously dry. I applied some quite thick daytime moisturiser after using this as I was getting ready for work in the morning and even that didn't help at all. I noticed it more when it came to applying my foundation over the top my face looked like it had huge patches of dry skin everywhere particularly on my forehead and nose - places where I have never suffered from dry skin before and when you touched my face but actually started falling off. I think you'll agree that is NOT a good look for any woman - patchy face that sometimes flakes over the pillows - and sadly black work uniform!! My skin just felt and looked awful after using this - and I did try a few more times just to make sure it wasn't a one off, bad skin day and I've had the same end results every single time this product just didn't work on my skin - even though its aimed at my skin type among others. Don't get me wrong my face did feel cleaner after using this and to be totally fair it did remove any trace of make-up I was wearing - along with all natural oils from my skin though. Using this as a good way to remove make-up simply wouldn't make me want to use this again when my skin looked and felt the way it did afterwards.
I would never recommend anyone to use this - unless you have VERY oily skin and are looking for a product that will soak up a lot of oil from your face. If you have normal or dry skin stay away from this product as if its dry it will make it a million times worse and if your skins normal it will make it dry. This has returned to the bathroom shelf where it can stay as I wont be using it again and even though its cheap I wouldn't tell others to use this one either. Cheap but not cheerful at all!!
Thanks For Reading.

I have been using Olay products for probably about 20 years now and although I use other things now and again, generally I rely on Olay for all of my facial skin care needs. I find it so gentle and simple and that it works really really well on my face. Its reasonably priced in the skin care market and is a brand I trust.
I like to wash my face properly in the shower as when I am using a product I find this is the only way to effectively rinse all the soap and moisture off of my face. I absolutely love this face wash from Olay, I have been using it for quite a long time and my skin is definitely benefiting from it so I will continue to use it for as long as my face feels nice and clean and fresh when I step out of the shower.
The fash wash comes in a 150ml tube, so not too big, not too small and has a flip top cap opening at the top of it. This is handy as you can stand it up in the shower which is nice. I sometimes have to be careful because this tube looks a lot like my Olay eye make up remover so I do have to look at the front and see which tube I actually have which is a bit annoying but oh well. Olay say that this Gentle Cleansers Refreshing Face Wash is specially formulated for gentle everyday cleansing. I do use it every morning in the shower and I would definitely say that it is gently enough for everyday. After using it my skin just feels refreshed, clean and light and it never dries out my skin which is great.
Inside the face wash has a gel like consistency to it. It is a clear gel and is fairly thick but not overly gloopy or anything like that. You just need to squeeze out a small little dollop really and I find this is enough to cover my whole face with wash. In the shower I have already got my face wet and I find that this is a good base on which to apply the wash. Once I have squeezed it out on my hands I then rub it for a bit and rub it all over my face. I leave it on for a minute or two to allow the cleansers to work and then rinse it off with the shower water.
The smell is amazing. It contains extracts of Aloe and Cucumber which work to lift away dirt and make up to effectively cleanse and refresh. I love the smell of cucumber in beauty products, its such a fresh, refreshing smell and aloe always works well on my skin to smooth it and make it soft and this wash is no exception.
I love this wash and will continue to use it. Its fairly well priced. A 150ml tube costs £2.99 in Boots and this is another Olay product I definitely recommend.
Olay is an American skin care line. It is one of Procter & Gamble's multi-billion dollar brands and the market leader in many countries including USA, UK, and China. As a top skin care retail brand in the world, Olay has a large range of products. The one I'm writing is one of Olay face washes, given the full name, Olay Essentials Refreshing Face Wash.
Olay Essentials Refreshing Face Wash package looks like an oversized toothpaste container, just wider and shorter. On the front of the package you can see P&G and Olympic logos on the top. The product name is displayed in the middle. At the bottom it is described as 'refreshing face wash' appropriate for normal/dry/combo type skins.
On the back of the package you can see the ingredients of the face wash. Mainly it contains aqua, sodium lauroamphoacetate(an amphoacetate used in moisturizers and other skin care products), sorbitol, glycerine, sodium trideceth, sodium surfate, citric acid and aloe barbadensis, etc.
How to use:
To get a good use from this face wash you should gently massage onto wet face and neck. After a couple of minutes you rinse off thoroughly with warm water and gently pat dry. You can use it every morning and/or evening.
Price and Availability:
In the UK you can buy Olay Essentials Refreshing Face Wash from many retailers including Amazon, Boots, Sainsbury's, just to name a few. You will find prices vary considerably. As a guide the current price is £3.05 with free delivery at Amazon UK website.
I bought my Olay Essentials Refreshing Face Wash at my local Sainsbury's and I paid £2.19. Now I have been using the face wash for very long and it is my first Olay face wash product. I'm very satisfied with the performance of the face wash.
First I like its fresh and pleasant smell. Second it cleans my skin but not dry it out. The formulation is a bit thick and sticky, however when I massage it onto my wet face it quickly becomes soft and smooth as it contains extracts of aloe and cucumber. After using it I can feel my face clean, soft and refresh. My skin is a combo type. I'm glad it doesn't make me feeling too dry.
Last but not least I would like to say I like its price. I have used other Olay make up products. In my mind it was a posh and a pricy brand. I was surprised to get it so cheap at supermarket.
All in all I'm very satisfied with Olay Essentials Refreshing Face Wash. I think it is good value for money and I recommend it.
I really hate my skin it is combination and prone to spots even though I am fast approaching 30! I use an exfoliating face scrub but find that if I use it every day then it dries my skin out a little to much so I get patches of dry skin so decided to purchase a normal face wash to use on alternate days to the scrub. The face scrub that I use is from the Olay essentials range so when I spotted that they also make a refreshing face wash I decided to give it a try.
The refreshing face wash comes in a 150ml tube and cost me just £1.25 from Wilkinson's recently where it was on a half price promotion. Personally I thought this was fantastic value as some face washes can be very expensive and Olay is a well-known brand with their products often costing much more than this.
The refreshing face wash comes in a plastic tube with a black flip top cap which it sits on to allow it to stand neatly in your bathroom. The front of the bottle is pink, black and blue with a water splash and an image of a ladies face. It states on the front of the tube that it is suitable for normal/dry/combo skin. On the back of the tube you can find all the information that you need to know about the face wash including ingredients listings, directions for use and what results to expect.
It states that the face wash is suitable for daily use and contains a combination of caring cleansing ingredients including Aloe and Cucumber to lift away dirt and make up to cleanse and refresh. To use the face wash you simply massage it into wet skin then rinse off with warm water.
The face wash is really easy to dispense by flipping open the lid and squeezing out, it is quite a thick gel like consistency so does not come out too fast or leave any residue around the cap. The face wash is clear and has a lovely light but fresh scent which I find very nice indeed. You only need to use a small amount of the face wash, about the size of a 20 pence piece to give a nice lather. The face wash feels very gentle on my skin and after a minute or so rubbing it in it easily rinses of with a few splashes of warm water. My skin feels lovely after use, with it being smooth and soft. I have no adverse reaction at all from using this face wash and have been extremely impressed with the results.
Overall I think this is a lovely everyday face wash that would suit most skin types. It leaves my skin feeling cleansed and soft and is a complete bargain!
Being someone who is fairly picky about facewashes I was pleasantly surprised when I picked this up at the supermarket in an emergency recently. Ok, it wasn't exactly an emergency but I'd forgotten to pack some when going to stay at my boyfriend's so I had to nip to the local Tesco and basically get whatever was there!
This cost me only £2, though I think it was on offer so may be more than that usually. I like facewash to foam up instead of just being creamy and smearing about my face or exfoliating the hell out of it so from that point of view this was perfect for me.
It has a clear gel-like consistency and a faint but pleasant smell and it leaves my skin feeling cleansed gently - well enough to remove any traces of make up, greasiness or general daily grime, but without harshly stripping my skin of natural oils. It is easy to use and rinse off and it does feel refreshing, as it suggests. I sometimes suffer with sensitive skin but I've been fine with this and it really does seem quite gentle.
Like I say it may usually cost slightly more that this but I still think it is a pretty good low-ish cost facewash. It probably won't reduce signs of ageing or reduce the appearance of wrinkles or leave you with a radiant complexion or make you suddenly look like Angelina Jolie, but you know, it cleans your face, and who can ask for more from a facewash?!
I swapped to facial wash from plain soap when my skin started going red after washing and I have always tried to find a cheap but effective product. I have been using the Boots own range until recently. When my usual product ran out I needed a replacement and saw this Olay 'Gentle Cleansers' Refreshing Face Wash on offer in Morrisons supermarket for only £1.49, reduced from it's usual price of £2.99. Olay is a brand I'm familiar with having used their moisturisers in the past and so was a brand name I trusted.
The product comes in a squeezy tube which stand on it's lid. This is a flip style lid which has a large lip for easy opening and which clicks simply back into place, keeping the product inside the tube secure and preventing any leakage. The plastic of the tube is very soft and malleable so it's easy to exert pressure onto the tube and dispenser the facial wash.
The tube size is 150ml which is about average size and which was the same size as most other facial wash products I looked at on the shelves. The product has information printed on the back of the tube which tells me everything I need to know about using it.
Olay say this product will leave you with "simply clean, refreshed, beautiful skin". They state proudly that the face wash is dermatologically tested and is "non-comedogenic" (a science term that has gone right over my head). They also explain that this wash has extracts of aloe and cucumber which "lifts away dirt and make up". The tube is printed on front with the skin type this face wash is aimed at and I think Olay are hedging their bets as it says it's suitable for "normal, dry and combination skin"!
I always use facial wash at night before I go to bed to remove any dirt or make up from that day. I am used to using just a smidgen of facial wash and with this Olay face wash I can also get away with using a tiny amount - just a fingernail sized dollop of this stuff cleans my whole face and neck effectively.
The clear gel is very dense and thick and does not run when you squeeze it out. I find it necessary to rub it into my hands to get it to spread and to create a lather. This creates a fine smattering of bubbles which I then apply to my damp face.
The gel has a lovely fragrance which you can smell as you use the product. It's sweet, flowery and a little bit aquatic or ocean-inspired.
The gel feels soft and fluffy as I'm using it but as I massage it into my skin I can feel a kind of moisturising effect taking place. It's as if I'm applying some kind of balm to my skin which after I've rinsed away the gel I can feel has penetrated my skin. It's very easy to rinse off too and never stings my eyes at all. The gel leaves my skin feeling springy and smooth and I feel like I could get away with not using a night cream if I wanted to do so.
I know from having followed up using this face wash with a cleanser that the gel effectively removes all impurities and make-up, even in difficult areas like around the eye.
I have to say that in comparison with the Boots products I have been using this face wash is a much superior product and one that I'd like to keep using in the future.
You can find out more about the Olay range at their website:
I have been using Olay refreshing face wash for years. I stared using it because I have sensitive skin and soap use to irritate my face. Since buying this ,I have never looked back.
It comes in a white bottle with a turquoise clip cap. It also has turquoise writing on the bottle. The bottle stands upright on the flat faced cap, so there are no worries about using the very last drop of the bottle.
I am always surprised at how long the bootle lasts, it seems to go on forever. You only need to squirt a drop the size of a pea to wash. I squirt the wash on my hand and then rub it into my face to create a lather, until my face appears white, then i rinse. When i Exfoliate my face (normally before applying false tan) I lather the face wash then use a facial exfoliator. This product gets rid of all traces of make-up and is extremely gentle on the skin.
I'm due to buy a new bottle, which means that I havn't bought one for months. If I remember rightly, it costs just under £3 for a 150ml bottle. It has a shelf life of 12 months.
What first attracted me to this cleanser was the fact that it says on the front that it's suitable for normal/dry/combination skin. Which pretty much sums up my skin, apart from the normal part, unfortunately! My skin is combination, but predominantly dry, and I usually find that products for combination skin are also designed for oily skin, so they really dry my skin out. So I was hopeful that this one would suit me better. The price was definitely appealing too- £2.99 in Boots for a generously sized 150ml tube.
The tube states that it will lift away dirt and makeup to cleanse and refresh your skin. The instructions are easy- wet face and neck, massage in, pat dry- the usual. The gel inside is clear, and really easy to rub in to your skin, without lathering up too much. It smells very refreshing and slightly citrussy, although it's got aloe and cucumber in, so I'm not sure where the fruitiness comes from!
The best thing about this product is that I find it doesn't dry my skin out like other cleansers, it just leaves it feeling pleasantly tight. So I don't have to slather on the moisturiser afterwards. I use it once a day, although the tube advises using twice daily. I don't think that's necessary though, and could affect your skin badly if it's very dry.
The only negative I've found is that it doesn't remove eye makeup very well at all, so you'll probably need to use a separate remover for that. But that's only a small problem- overall, this is a great everyday cleanser that's gentle but refreshing, and well worth the cost.
I have combination skin that is readily happy to break out into spots at the drop of a hat if I don't keep it under control with the right products. After years of looking for and perfecting my ideal skincare routine I was slightly panicked when I discovered that my preferred type of face wash had been discontinued. After searching for it in vain I resigned myself to the fact that I was going to have to buy an alternative product. After discounting several products due to past experience, I decided to buy Olay Gentle Cleansers Refreshing face wash - encouraged even more so by the fact that it was on offer at £2 (usual price is around £2.99).
The face wash comes in an attractive blue and white tube which stands on its end so the product is always where you want it and no vigorous shaking is required! The lid snaps firmly shut so I would happily put this in a suitcase without wrapping it in a plastic bag! The first thing that I liked about this facewash is the smell - I think that it is lovely. It has a gentle flowery aroma but it also has a hint of fruitiness about it - It actually is quite refreshing without being at all overpowering and I can smell it for a while after my face is dry.
My last face wash contained exfoliators so it had a gritty feeling when I was using it, but this face wash is completely smooth. At first I found this quite unusual and I had concerns that it simply wouldn't get all of my make up off and thoroughly clean my face, but those doubts were unfounded and I have not had any outbreaks of spots in the time that I have been using it. I am now thinking that I was scrubbing my face too hard and washing the natural oils away and my skin was overcompensating and resulting in the odd spot.
You only need a small amount of the product to get a good lather and then it is easily washed off with warm water and you are instructed to pat your face dry with a clean towel. After using Olay face wash my skin feels smooth and soft, and not at all tight and dry; I do not get the urge to reach for the moisturiser the minute that my skin is dry. Olay state that the face wash is blended for everyday use and this is absolutely true; I use it twice a day (morning and night) and it is not drying my skin out at all, it feels fresh and well nourished. This product is suitable for normal, dry and combination skin so it really should suit everyone.
This face wash is readily available in many shops and supermarkets but the prices do vary a lot with different promotions. I am really glad that my original face wash was discontinued as I believe that this product is even better, I just hope that this one doesn't disappear anytime soon!
I love Olay products and have a good range of the day and night cream, the everyday moisturiser and some of the makeup.
I have used the face wash and was really pleased with it.
It is for normal, dry, combination skin and contains witch hazel. You only need a small amount, about the size of a 50p as it lathers up really well. The best way to apply is if you wet your face first, then apply a small amount, lather up and gently rub over your face and neck in a circular motion, so as not to stretch your skin, then rinse well. It leaves you with a lovely fresh feeling and it does not dry out your face as other products do. It can cost between £3 and £4 but as you only need a small amount each time i find that it does actually go quite a long way so works out to be quite cost effective.
If you are looking for a change to your usual face wash then i would recommend this one
For something that is so simple, I seem to have a lot of trouble with washing my face each day. I have quite sensitive skin with occasional outbreaks of eczema around my nose and hairline and finding the right prduct can be a bit of a problem. Soap is a no-no as it usually dries my skin straight away but if I use a cleansing lotion I never feel really clean and refreshed. I have flirted a little with cleansing wipes but found most of them to be too harsh as well although I have had some success with Olay Daily Facials pads; they're not cheap though.
So when I received Olay Refreshing Face Wash in a gift pack from my mother at Christmas I was a bit dubious. I've never used a facial wash yet that hasn't left my skin dry, tight and flaky. However, when I ran out of daily facials I decided to give it a go.
The product is found in a white tube that stands upside down, which is nice as it means the product squeezes straight out without any effort. The packaging is simple yet attractive with the Olay logo and brand name easily readable.
Upon first using this product I was immediately struck by what a pleasant smell it has. I'm wanting to describe it as smelling like melons, but I could be completely wrong. It definitely smells like something fresh and fruity though. The product lathered up nicely into a creamy foam that slid easily over my face. I was quite surprised at how refreshing the facial wash was. Yes, it says on the packet "Refreshing Face Wash" but it wouldn't have been the first time the packaging had told a little white lie.
After rinsing and drying, my face felt quite soft and during the day I was pleased with how smooth and soft the skin stayed.
After using it for a few weeks, I can honestly say that it does provide a wake-up factor. With a twelve month old baby who still hasn't slept a full night, I often wake up looking and feeling like a haggard old crone but after using the product I feel much more wide awake and ready to face the day. (I still look like a crone though; it's not *that* good!)
Also the dry patches on my face have all but disappeared. Whether that's through using the facial wash or the baby cream I use as a moisturiser (and previously reviewed) or a combination of both, I'm not sure but as long as it's working I'm quite happy.
The product is available for around £3, which I think is a reasonable price as I've been using a generous squirt twice a day for around three weeks and I haven't run out yet.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product to anyone. The packaging claims that it is gentle and refreshing and I have certainly found this to be the case. Add in the extra bonus of a lovely smell and scrupulously clean skin and it's a winner for me!
