I got this as a sample from a sales girl last year and immediately thought yeah right like I'm actually going to use it. I was originally drawn to the fruity smell and this might sound strange but I do buy things based on their smell not necessarily on their performance so if anything, the smell was what drew me close!
When I got home I did test it but on the back of my hand and there was a distinct difference between my two hands and also the hand I had tested this on was smooth and soft. Now I didn't know what to make- of course, now I liked the smell and the softness it left but was there anything else? The next morning I used it on my face and most certainly didn't notice a skin brightening effect- although admittedly my face was very soft. After that, I gave up using this.
I only used it once but did not see any brightening effect and dismissed this as one of those over- hyped products that suit few not most. For me it didn't work but for a lot of people it has- so this may be to do with my skin.
I love the packaging- it's nothing fancy but portable and the lid closes tightly unlike some products where you have wastage due to dripping products! I don't have much more to say about this- I only used it once on my face and once on my hand and although did notice a brighter tone on my hand, noticed nothing on my face. I may purchase and give it a go but not just yet, as I'm loving my avene cleanser.
I must admit that in general I am not a big fan of "fruity" flavoured toiletries - I do not want to smell like a strawberry, raspberry or anything else that is best found in a fruit salad, so when I received this face wash which is described as a " fruit smoothie of a face wash" as a travel size as part of a larger gift set I didn't expect to be impressed.
However, this cleanser may just change my mind about all things fruity. Ordinarily I like a creamy cleanser, so I was quite surprised when this product, which is almost gel like when it comes out of the tube, lathers up on my face really well. The fruity smell, mainly of papaya, is not overpowering, just really fresh and a really nice way to wake your skin up in the morning.
After applying, my skin feels soft and not dry at all. It feels a nice gentle way to cleanse the skin as an alterantive to everyday exfoliating.
Origins say that the cleanser is designed to brighten your face - well, I am not to sure about that. It does make my face feel lovely and fresh and clean, but visibly brighter? Hmm not convinced, but then I never think that face washes etc really live up to the claims made by the manufacturers - if a cleanser lathers and washes my face well, smells nice and does not leave my skin dry then I am happy.
Cost wise, well as you would expect from Origins, it is a premium product at a premium price - the full size costs £15 for 150ml. You don't need to use it everyday though - Origins recommend 2 or 3 times a week, and it does last a fair while. My main concern with this product is that it has opened my eyes to the fact that some fruity toiletries can be good, which means so many more products to try - oh dear, this could turn out to be an expensive face wash to use in more than just the price of the product itself.
Origins make cleansers and other skincare products using natural ingredients, many using fruit to create a range of very natural and fresh products which are enjoyable to use by all.
It is in a simple see through clear plastic tube, with instructions and directions printed on the back, the logo on the front and any other information such as ingredients on the back in white text.
I really like this simple design, very clear and not messy, whilst you can see the product and what you are buying and that the tube is FULL when purchasing unlike other brands with their opaque half full bottles.
The skin cleanser has a thick consistancy which you are meant to loosen by lathering up. You can create A LOT of lather from a small bit of skin cleanser. About a pea sized amount is enough to clean the whole face and neck and is smooth to the skin, with a slight cooling feeling.
It doesn't have that strong a smell, but smells slightly plasticky, although I'm told that is the papaya extract. It does smell natural and not too overwhelming which is good. It doesn't leave any strong smell afterwards either so it isn't heavily fragranced.
After using it, the skin genuinely feels cleansed with a bright and refreshed feeling and cooling sensation. There also isn't a drying feeling and your skin feels replenished and full too.
The price for this is approximately £15 and can be ordered from their online store or specialist boutiques and department stores.
I think this cleanser is indulgent and does provide a great clean, although it is rather expensive. There are other cleansers which do the same job for less but this is really high end and is a pleasure to use.
For those who want a product that does the job, this is good if you can afford it. I personally will not be buying this again after this is finished unless I win the lottery.
