I first tried this product after seeing it featured in a magazine as a star buy, and I could instantly see why!

The packaging is sturdy, simple and classy. I have had loads of these, and the pot and lid have never been damaged. Because it is in a pot, it is very easy to get the amount you want out, rather than squeezing too much from a tube, so the packaging works well. The paper label stuck to the bottom sometimes gets a bit soggy and disintegrates, so I tend to remove this.

The product smells very natural, a bit fruity, a bit earthy, typical of Origins. On using the product, it feels almost gel-like, which means it glides on nicely. You must apply it to damp skin, otherwise it feels harsh and doesn;t glide properly. You feel the exfoliation straight away, but not in a harsh way - the particles seem very fine and gentle, which allows you to massage it into the skin without causing abrasive damage. Not only do the particles exfoliate well, but also the "carrier" liquid seems to have excellent conditioning properties too. You can feel a freshening, improving action.

After applying to damp skin in a circular motion, one tip is to leave the exfoliator on your face for a few minutes before removing. I find that this enhances its performance and allows the plant extracts to work on the skin. I then massage again with lots of water in a gentle rinsing programme.

After use, the skin feels really soft, conditioned and any little flaky patches are resolved. I am prone to spots and have combination oily/dry skin, and it improves all areas of my face.

The product is so effective that I always notice a huge difference after just one use. I tend to use it 2 - 3 times a week, and because a little goes a long way it lasts me about a year (even though my husband occasionally borrows it - it is totally unisex and great for men's skin too!). If I keep it much after that time, I find that the consistency and smell change slightly, but it still works fine.

This is one of my all time favourite skincare products. It is pricy, but there is nothing comparable available and it lasts so long that it is excellent value overall.
