I saw this product being demonstrated on QVC last year, I liked the look of it as it claimed to be an energy boosting moisturiser which brightens the skin which also contains SPF 15. I picked this up in a gift set, but this normally retails at £26 and can be bought direct from Origins, Boots, Debenhams and others.
Product and application
The moisturiser has a light brown colour and smells like foundation. It is very much like a tinted moisturiser in its colour and consistency, It is easily applied and rubbed into the face. Howvever I have found that it does need to be applied using a mirror as the product can leave tide lines and patches on the face if it is not applied evenly or carefully. Once it has been applied evenly, skin looks dewy and more radiant and it feels soft and moisturised. This moisturiser provides a good base for make-up and I find I need to apply less make-up thanks to the tinted nature of this product.
My skin does look more energised and brighter when I wear this, although I have oily skin and I do notice that my skin does look quite oily after a few hours out wearing this under my make-up. So I wouldn't recommend this to be people who suffer from oiliness.
I'm not sure if I can say if the energy boosting properties of this moisturiser last all day long, but it certainly gives my skin a pick-me-up in the morning. For those with good skin, this product would provide enough coverage for them to wear on its own.
I have medium-toned white skin, I think this product is suitable for all skin colourings as the tint is quite subtle so it doesn't add too much in the way of colour to the skin.
The cream is easily removed from the skin with cleanser whilst removing make-up.
This is a nice product and I like the results it delivers, it very much reminds me of a BB cream due to its tinted nature. However, for £26 I'm not sure its really worth that price when there are so many cheaper alternatives on the market. If I were able to buy this at a cheaper price, I would happily use it, but if I had to cough up the full amount, I don't think I would.
4 Stars from me
I love the origin's brand, who's motto is "powered by nature, proven by science". Their mission is to create high performance natural skin care, and aim to be as organic as possible, with majority of products reaching a 98% organic mark. They are also eco and animal friendly, and try to preserve the planet as much as possible. Started in the 1960s, they promise to produce products that are eco-friendly and use 100% natural essential oils. Their products are formulated without parabens, phthalates, propylene gycol, PAbA, paraffin and animal ingredients. A brand who's ethos I am really impressed with and with every new product I buy, I love.
The vitaZing moisturizer is no different. Origins say that "it will make you look like you eat right, sleep tight and don't have a worry in sight". It is intended to be for dehydrated skin but can be used on all skin types, and promises to use its anti-oxidant therapy (from mangosteen and turmeric extracts) to boost the general appearance of skin in the long term. It also contains SPF 15 to help protect against the damaging effects of the sun.
When I first bought this I was a little surprised at how small it seemed, for the price. £26 for 50ml of moisturizer seemed slightly steep however I honestly now think it is worth the price. I've been using this product religiously over the past two years, and in that time have bought three tubes of the stuff. The moisturizer comes in a white plastic tube with an orange cap, and orange writing on it with the name and it's details.
You are advised to apply it as you would a normal moisturizer over clean skin in the morning.
I think that this is actually a very sheer tinted moisturizer, formulated to be used as a skincare product, and on application i have found that my skin appears as if the tone is much more even. When you squeeze the product out the tube it looks like a white cream with grey specks in it. As you rub it in, the specks break down and the whiteness becomes more orangey brown. It blends into your skintone really well, mainly due to the fact that it is SO sheer and doesn't take much work to make it blend in at all.
As a moisturizer it sinks into my skin really well, infact my skin seems to drink it up. No matter how much i put on, it doesn't seem to clog up my pores and nor does it rub of my skin later on. It also smells pretty great, not chemical at all.
As makeup I don't think it's going to be great if you need lots of coverage. I tend to wear this to work everyday with a dusting of powder ontop, because I love how it looks so natural. My skin takes on some form of glow, as if i've spent a few hours in the sun when i put this on. The finish is really dewy. I do feel that if i'm having a bad skin day a bit of concealer is needed as this product will not cover spots, but i don't think this is an advantage. It is marketed as a moisturiser and to me it is an added benefit that it provides a slight coverage. Finally i feel that this moisturiser is the perfect base for under foundation. Due to the coverage it gives me, it means i need less foundation and rarely need concealer with it.
Overall I really recommend this product and the entire origins brand to everyone and anyone. I absolutely love the effect it gives me, I just look like i'm having a really good skin day. If you want to test it out, definately go ahead, it is just produces the perfect summer skin
