I hate spots. I went to my doctor a few months back and he said that I should try some Panoxyl on them as he said it usually is very effective. He have me a prescription for the 5% strength acne gel. I was happy to get something to treat it as nothing that I had tried before worked properly. I have recently started using the 10% strength gel (dooyoo don't have this on there catalogue).
This comes in a tube within a cardboard box. I recieved a 40g give which was white and had the word Panoxyl is large letters on the front. It tells you that it is acnegel and that is is made of benzoyl peroxide and is created for the treatment of acne. I have recently discovered that you can buy this from amazon for £3.50 from one of there online pharmacies. You have to answer a few questions via and email before they post it, but it is fairly easy to get without a prescition.
Does it work:
All you have to do it clean your face first and apply a small amount to your finger which you then rub into the affected area or just onto the spot that it causing you the hassle. It is easy to use. It is meant to dry the spots out and I have found that overnight there is a huge difference in the appearance of spots, I have also found that spots which were about to come to the surface are destroyed before they can break out! It is far better than anything you can buy off the shelf so it is worth you going to the doctor and see if he recommends this to you. There are a few drawbacks which I will discuss.
When I first started using this, I applied to much and it really dried my skin out and caused me pain. It says to use it once a day, I ended up having to use it once every 3 days to begin with. After a while it didn't make my skin so dry. You do not need to rub it into your whole face, just a small amount on the worst effected areas will work. I started to find that the 5% gel stopped being as effective and that is when I moved up to the 10% gel, this was much stronger and I again had the same problems. After a while I could use the gel without any issues. Another drawback is that the gel is white and can look a bit silly on your face if not rubbed in properly. I also found that if you put it on before bed and you have dark bedding, it may stain parts of it white! Which is not the best.
There are certainly some drawbacks, like with any product... But the effects on my skin are brilliant and it has really calmed down the worst affected areas. I would say give this a try, but go to your doctor first as he/she will know what's best for you!
I am giving this product 3 stars as I found that is wasn't as good as the 10% gel, of this review was for the 10% it would get 5 stars! Thanks for reading my review and I hope that it helped. This certainly sorted out my spot crisis and I wish that I was told about it before as it would have saved me a lot of pain and hassle!
I visited the nurse practitioner at my doctor's surgery around twelve months ago and I happened to mention that I had developed some spots on the top of my back. She advised it was probably down to the contraception I was using at the time but gave me some panoxyl aquagel 5% to try and clear it up.
The gel is 5% Benzoyl Peroxide in an aqueous gel and is designed for the treatment of acne. The product comes in a thin cardboard box which is white and a minty green in colour. It features the product name as well as the directions for use. Inside the box there is a tube of the aquagel which also features directions for use on it should you misplace the box or the instructions leaflet.
You are advised to apply the gel once a day to the affected area and that washing with soap and water prior to this would increase the performance of the product. I applied a thin layer of the gel to my upper back each day and I noticed that after a couple of days that my skin felt very dry both on the acne and also the area of skin surrounding it. I used a loofah in the bath and continued with the applications and after a week the skin on the top of my back was much clearer. My skin did feel very dry which I can only presume was down to the ingredients in this gel but it soon felt normal again which was good. The gel was easily applied despite it being on my back and I found that it absorbed relatively easily in to my skin but would leave me feeling slightly sticky.
I have to say that I was impressed with how quickly this product worked although I do realise I didn't have a severe problem on my back. I would most definitely use the product again should the need arise.
There are some precautions that should be taken when using this product including:
-avoid contact with the mouth, eyes and other mucous membranes.
-take care when applying to sensitive areas such as the neck.
-only use the product externally.
-do not use if you are sensitive to Benzoyl Peroxide.
-keep the product out of the reach of children.
-Be mindful that it may stain/bleach some clothes.
To my knowledge there are varying strengths of this product available depending on the severity of your issue. This particular one can be purchased for around three pounds but you may wish to see your GP first for some advice.
Thank you for reading my review!
