If you have normal/combi/oily skin this is a must !!!!!!!!!

As noted in earlier reviews, Peter Thomas Roth are a well respect skin care company because they know their ingredients and what works. For me personally, I find that some products work better than others but thats because not everything with suit everyone since some ingredients suit certain skin types more. However, there's no excuse with this product as it's made in two versions, a gentle version and a max version. Since I have combination skin prone to break outs I use the max version and couldn't rave about them any more than I already do !!

*Who is this for ? *

I would say that the max version targets the normal/combination/oily skin type group. Drier skin types would prefer the gentle version and those with VERY sensitive skins I would use the gentle version less often or avoid altogther if you're not willing to patch test first.

      *How to use *

These are instructions are quite important, especially with the max version and it's stronger ingredients !!

Cleanse and tone thoroughly before applying ( unless you have used water in the process of removing your cleanser, you can omit the toning stage. ) Wipe the affected area gently with pad, using only light pressure. Do not scrub !!!!!! I'm a double cleanser-gal by nature and so I repeat with a clean pad to ensure that all the grime etc has been removed.

The official instructions state that you you should begin by applying once daily and then increasing to 2-3 times daily as needed. However, in my opinion that may be too harsh for pretty much all skin types, even oilier skins. So as with all products I would say that you should apply daily ( unless dryness or flaking occurs ) until you have your skin looking as you want it to, then cut back to perhaps every other day. However, if you're addicted and the every-other-day routine doesn't give you the results you want then revert back to the once daily routine.

Do now allow pad to remain on skin and if your skin is reacting by severe dryness or flaking then I would recommend using the gentle version instead which uses less active exfoliating ingredient after your skin is back to normal. ( I'd give the max version to a friend with oily/combination skin and they will love for you for it !! ) For very sensitive skins your skin may not agree with even the gentle version so I would always patch test first, with all products from any range !!!

      *Why this works *

The active ingredient in this product is Salicylic Acid which is an exfoliator for the skin. You tend to find that pores become blocked by the likes of oil, grime and dead skin cells and Salicylic Acid helps to keep your pores clearer. It also contains Glycolic acid ( which is a stronger exfoliator than Salicylic acid in general but it depends on the percentage used. Glycolic acid is usually used in acne products and products that are targeting the likes of pigmentation etc. )
It also contains the likes of Arginine ( in itself it's a multi-tasking ingredient. It is not only thought to have a moisturising and calming effect on the skin, but it's also thought to encourage collagen production and circulation in the skin. Alongside this, Arginine itself when combined with glycolic acid delivers all the benefits associated with such AHA's including exfoliation, increased cell turnover, skin firming and reduced pigmentation etc, but arginine does this in a way that many find to be less irritating in the skin, ) Witch Hazel Extract ( which is fabulous for spot prone skin is known for it's astringent, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, ) Chamomile Extract ( which is thought to not only have anti-inflammatory properties but also acts as an anti-oxidant, ) Green Tea Extract ( which is a power anti-oxidant, ) Comfrey Extract ( for it's soothing properties, ) Peach Extract ( which is used for its exfoliation preoperties ) and Aloe Vera ( for cooling and calming the skin. )

Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid 2% (w/w)

Inactive Ingredients: Water, Alcohol Denat., Glycolic Acid, Arginine, Butylene Glycol, Witch Hazel Extract, Chamomile Extract, Green Tea Extract, Comfrey Extract, Peach Extract, Whole Leaf Aloe Vera, Allantoin, Fragrance, Triethanolamine
