Philosophy Purity Made Simple
Advantages: effective, easy to use, scent, packaging, removes makeup
Philosophy was founded in 1996. They specialise in beauty products formulated with 'scientifically proven' ingredients.
~Purity Made Simple~
The Purity Made Simple collection from Philosophy includes three cleansing products - an oil, a gel and a cleansing liquid. I will be discussing my use of the 'One Step Facial Cleanser' aka '3 in 1 Cleanser For Face and Eyes'.
This product is an award winning cleanser which Philosophy claims is a 3 in 1 product for your face and eyes. It should cleanse, tone and remove all make up from your skin. Whilst cleansing your skin, this cleanser should deep clean pores and remove any make up build up within your skin. It is a fragrance free product and contains natural oil extracts which help condition the skin whilst cleansing.
This cleanser is gentle enough for using in the morning and/or evening. It is recommended that you use a 20p sized blob combined with a little water and massage this cleanse over your face for up to one minute - rinse and pat dry and then add your chosen moisturiser.
This cleanser is presented in a simple clear bottle with a screw off cap or flip cap depending on which size of bottle is purchased. In true Philosophy style, there is a little paragraph for inspiring words on the front of the bottle..
'purity is natural. we come into this world with all the right instincts. we are innocent and perceive things as they should be, rather than how they are. our conscience is clear, our hands are clean and the world at large is truly beautiful. it is at this time we feel most blessed. to begin feeling young again, we must begin with the most basic step of all, the daily ritual of cleansing' - Philosophy website and the packaging.

I like to take care of my skin and am always happy to try new products/brands which may make my skincare routine that little bit easier in the mornings. I received a Philosophy gift set for my birthday this year and it was crammed full of generous, travel sized products. One such product is a 59.2ml sized bottle of Purity Made Simple. I have only recently got around to using this product as I was concentrating on using up the other cleansers in my bathroom.
I cleanse twice a day to keep my skin fresh and healthy. This cleanse is a creamy colour with a pale yellow tint to it. It has a pleasant consistency - quite milky but with a little bit of thickness to it and I find it easy enough to squeeze a small amount from my little plastic bottle as it flows well. This consistency of this cleanser is definitely a plus point - it is very easy to work with and is light weight.
It is up to you which way you use this cleanser. It can be applied directly to your damp face or by massaging it between your hands with some water and then applying it that way. I prefer the first option and splash some tepid water over my face to open up my pores before dispensing this cleanser onto my fingertips. This cleanser creates a generous yet light weight and very gentle lather on my face. It feels cool and very refreshing which are factors I appreciate from a cleanser as this helps me wake me up a bit first thing in the morning.
Purity Made Simple has a pleasant scent. It is very naturally scented and to me, smells quite herby and medicinal. It is inoffensive but won't be to everyones tastes. Whilst massage this cleanser across my skin, I can feel it giving my skin a good freshen up and cleanse. I splash my face with some cold water to remove the lather and then dry my skin. This cleanser does not leave my skin feeling dried out - it leaves it soft, smooth and refreshed without the need for a toning lotion. It doesn't rid my skin of dryness but nor does it make it worse or make my skin feel tight like some cleansers can do. I do need to apply my day cream afterwards to lock in moisture.
When it comes to using this as a night time cleanser, it performs equally as well. The cleansing lather does a good job at removing general dirt from my pores as well as sweeping away any make up including powder and blush. I use the same method as I do in the morning but use a few cotton pads after I have lathered the cleanser on my skin. This ensures every last trace of make up is removed and the results are very evident given the mess that transfers to the cotton pad. I am not a fan of using this type of product on my eyes but I have tried this and found that it is very kind to my sensitive eyes and does not sting in the slightest. This cleanser effectively removes eyeshadow and mascara traces without the need for me to scrub so I am happy with how will it performs.
Regardless of when I use this cleanser, it performs to a high standard. My face is visibly clean and feels incredibly fresh as well as gently conditioned. I have experienced no irritation from using this on a day to day basis so can confirm that it is kind to sensitive skin. The scent lingers on my skin for a short while.
This is an expensive cleanser but it does last incredibly well.
All in all, I can recommend this cleanser and I will be purchasing a big bottle soon.
Thanks for reading :)
