Ponds Hydro Nourishing Cream
Advantages: cheap, works great on hands
Disadvantages: Not suitable for sensitive skin!
Over the years through trial and error, I have managed to find myself the perfect make-up remover (L'oreal), Foundation (Mac Studio Sculpt) even make-up removing wipes (Simple). The one product I am constantly changing in the search for the "one", is a moisturiser. My latest offering was Ponds Hydronourishing cream, which I bought in Superdrug for £4.07, for a 50ml bottle.
Although I haven't tried any products by Ponds before, I know they are a highly rated product by Miss Minogue, who apparently swears by the Ponds cleanser. The company itself was apparently started in the early 1900's when Theron T. Pond discovered he could heal small cuts and other ailments from extracting a healing tea from Witch Hazel. It was later dubbed "The Golden Treasure". Me on the other hand, was looking for a golden treasure of a face cream which would leave my skin feeling really hydrated, not bring me out in a rash or spots and be suitable enough for my sensitive skin, would this cream be up to scratch?
The product is packaged in a light pink box which is what caught my attention as I thought I must try it. The cream itself comes in a glass jar which is semi transparent, and a pink lid. Judging my by the packaging, I would say it was aimed more towards the mature user, as it is pretty and feminine but certainly not cutting edge like a Mac moisturizer would be.

When you unscrew the lid you are greeted by a pure white cream. At first glance, my honest opinion is that the cream looked a little cheap because of how oddly white it was. I also noticed it had quite a fragrant smell coming from it, which although is a pleasant smell, is also a little off putting as I dislike fragrant skincare products for my face, and infact make sure to avoid fragranced skincare wipes.
Nevertheless, I was keen to try it and did so before applying my make-up one morning, after washing my face as usual. The cream has a lightweight texture and feel to it, so it is very easy to distribute and really glides well across my skin. Not sure about the fragrant smell which is more obvious now it's on my face, however overall it gave my skin a nice drink before being lathered in make-up. I also find it refreshing to use this cream on my hands, particularly when they are feeling dry, as it sinks in really quickly and does not feel greasy afterwards.
Although overall this is a moisturizer I would approve of, it's perhaps not one I would say is suitable for sensitive skin. I notice that this cream can sometimes give me redness of the skin which takes ages to settle down, which could well be down to the fragrance in it. Also, I seem to have more spots than normal which is unusual and I can only attribute to this moisturizer as I am using no other products different to what I normally use.
Although this product is highly rated elsewhere in the Dooyoo community, personally I can't get over the fragrance or the occasional skin irritation this product gives me. It doesn't specify what skin type it is suitable for, but I can guarantee it is not for sensitive skin types. Skin care is where I am prepared to spent more money on, and at £4.07 I thought this would be a steal, but I am left slightly disappointed. It's not the worst skincare product I have used by far, and does come in an elegant glass bottle, but my skin has the final word and unfortunately it didn't like it.
Summary: A moisturiser which is fine to use anywhere but the face, if you have sensitive skin
