“ Brand: ReVive / Texture: Cream / Type: Moisture Cream / Subcategory: Moisturiser / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Repairs, „
My new motto is to try before I buy so I have tested this cream using a generous size sample which contained enough for several weeks.
I have already reviewed The Re Vive neck cream which I love so I had high hopes of this cream which is aimed at ageing sensitive skin.
Revive wasn't a company I had heard of, so I researched it and discovered it was founded by a Harvard trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon, who decided to develop a skin care range because he realised many of his patients were asking for surgery to improve their skin and surgery could not achieve that. Utilising extensive research he had done on accelerating healing in burns victims he discovered a unique bio-engineered molecule that helped increase the healing rate of burns. He discovered that this same molecule could help rejuvenate skin.
This is described as a youth molecule that dramatically increases skin renewal and combined with firming agents and sun protection helps improve the appearance of sagging skin.
The cream has a very light consistency and a really lovely smell which I think is orange and possibly liquorice. The consistency is nice but I was concerned that it would be too light for my very dry skin. The cream absorbs easily and does not irritate my very sensitive skin.
I used this on a morning after cleansing and found it easy to apply, but although my skin felt nice it did not feel hydrated. In fact my skin felt a little tight although it did look better and softened the lines a little.
The product is meant to renew damaged ageing and provide immediate visible improvement and relief from dryness. So I was surprised that it did not deliver on the hydration front.
In fact I felt like I needed to use something under or over this cream .
When I checked the website it does say this is aimed at normal to dry skin but it also said it was complimentary to a daily moisturising cream in the range.
So I started to use this under my regular moisturiser so I could see whether this rejuvenated my skin and tackled the signs of ageing .
I am still waiting!
I had a sample pot 15 ml which is a mini version of the full size 60ml jar. This is a premium product , but the packaging is average, which I hope means they spend more on the ingredients.
The ingredients are not recognisable to me, they sound very scientific and unnatural . The cream does contain the magic ingredient that has been proved to help burns victims skin repair and renew. The one that seems to work in the neck cream I use , so it does seem strange that it does not produce good results on my face.
Well you have probably guessed that I did not see any improvement in my skin which is dry mature and I have lines and wrinkles.
I was expecting a face lift in a jar, especially as this retails at £125 for 60ml .
That is a staggering price for a face cream and so you would expect to get amazing results , however I have not really noticed any difference . This promises immediate results , which I did not experience.
This may be because this is not hydrating enough for me and because of that when I first tried this I struggled applying make up on top. It does have a tightening effect that I can feel but that does not translate into any visible difference in my skin. In fact it does not deliver results I experience with creams that cost significantly less than this.
I love the neck cream in this range which does deliver results but sadly this one does nothing for me.
I am not sure whether I would have paid £125 for a face cream , perhaps if it had made me look like I had a face lift I may have considered it - yes I know I must be mad spending that much on a face cream, however thats probably £40 a month otr £10 a week . However I have never paid £125 for a face cream and I don't intend starting now.
Only 1 star from me.
