This is a review of Rodial's five minute facial, which I received in a beauty box recently. I am a little reluctant to use face masks having had too many subsequent break outs but I really wanted to try the Rodial brand having heard good things about it so I decided to take the plunge.
This is triple action resurfacing gommage clay mask. Rodial 5 Minute Facial is a lifting and decongesting mask targeting age spots and reducing the appearance of fine lines by stimulating the skin's natural collagen. Containing revolutionary ingredients such as LaraCareTM, which firms, lifts and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and Argirline which works to reduce stress in the skin and to relax contracted muscles, 5 Minute Facial will have an immediate effect on the face.
The directions advice you to put a thin layer of the mask on your face, avoiding the eye area and leaving it on for at least five minutes. It is a creamy white colour, like a clay mask with a few bumpy bits in it. I found that it dried really quickly but didn't reach that 'cracking' stage on your face so did not feel tight or uncomfortable. After five minutes, you are advised to rub off the mask with a finger to get the loose bits off then use warm water to remove the rest. I did it all in the bath and used a Kleenex facial wipe in warm water to soak off the mask and found it removed every bit with gentle wiping and no rubbing.
My skin felt a little bit dry afterwards so I had to apply some moisturiser but it wasn't anything beyond what I'd normally experience when I have been in the bath. In the following days I'm pleased to report no break outs and have since used the mask again with positive results. I would say that you need to use this a few times to get the full benefit but I did feel that the clay like mask helped to remove impurities from my skin in a gentle way. I do have some pigmentation spots on my face that have developed during pregnancy that I am keen to target but I think it will be a long journey before they are visibly reduced.
I wouldn't say I am a complete face mask convert just yet, I don't mind using one every now and again but it's not a product I turn to very often. The Rodial mask is a premium product and I enjoyed the chance to try it but I don't think a repurchase is on the cards.
A 50 ml bottle costs £35 from both feelunique and Selfridges websites. This sounds a lot but a tube, used economically will last a very long time.
I think this is a nice pampering product and one that has made my skin a bit softer and brighter but I think the price puts me off buying it again. The Rodial brand has me interested though and I am keen to try further products in their range.
