Sainsbury's Cotton Wool Buds
Advantages: cheap, easy to use, multi-purpose (make-up and ears!)
Disadvantages: none at all!
Cotton buds are an everyday essential for me. Something I don't notice how much I use them when I have them, but as soon as I've run out I realise how desperate I need them! From using it with eye makeup remover to tidy my eyeliner, and also cleaning out my ears these are multi-purpose. It sounds weird but I actually prefer the thin, cheaper brands than the bulky cotton buds you get with the Johnson's range!
The buds are essentially little plastic sticks, which are the body of the cotton buds and are quite thin and made of polypropylene. The heads consist of tightly woven wafts of 100% pure cotton on each opposing end. These buds aren't extremely long in length, and so I find them just as good for my personal use and also my 3 year old daughter's.
The cotton on the tips is really soft, and whilst not overly thick, it is plentiful to cover the bud and leave a gentle end. I have used some cotton buds where the cotton is so thin and flimsy I can still feel the plastic end of the stick poking in my ear - not comfortable! This is not the case with these and for the cheap price they are good quality. When using cotton buds in my daughter's ears to remove wax, I sometimes tend to slightly suck the tip to make it a bit moist before inserting - which with cheap, crappy buds causes the cotton to fray and come away from the stick - but with these Sainsburys cotton buds they are durable and remain easy to use and the cotton does not disintegrate at the first hint of moisture lol.
I like these buds as they have a gentle tip, which whilst round, they are also a bit pointy and I can hold them and manoeuvre to help do my makeup. I am not the best at doing my eyeliner (I do not have the steadiest of hands!) so I usually end up applying my eyeliner then using with a cotton bud some eye makeup remover to tidy up the lines and give a lovely defined look. These cotton buds are great for this as the cotton tips are soft so easily remove without me jabbing my eye with a pad and the buds are little and thin making them easy to hold!
These now come in a box as opposed to a plastic tub and costs a cheap £1.53 for 200 buds. However, 200 is the average amount in the tub so I do not necessarily count them when I use them but either way on average its about 0.8p a cotton bud so pretty good price!
Overall I like Sainsburys, and so I like these cotton buds as that's where I shop. I am not specifically loyal to one brand, but I have these at the moment and they are doing a great job for our cotton bud needs so I would definitely recommend them!
Summary: cheap little cotton buds from sainsburys
