      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Nice but nothing special

      *** Sanctuary essentials ***
I generally really like Sanctuary products and was in Boots recently looking at the range. I was going to opt for my usual Spa Essentials body butter or body soufflé, when this serum caught my eye. I've never seen this product before but I thought it sounded like something new and different.

      *** What is it? ***
The packaging says the serum is "an anti-ageing light weight skin quenching body serum packed full of age repairing ingredients including skin softening sunflower oil and moisture locking vitamin B3". It cost £7.25 for 200ml.

The serum comes in a pump action bottle, and the packaging isn't obviously part of the Sanctuary range - it is mainly pale grey with some simple writing, and no illustrations to liven things up. It's a bit boring but it isn't bad looking.

      *** Exotic smell ***
I was pleased that the Sanctuary smell I was used to was all present and correct - for those of you that are unfamiliar with the Spa Essentials range from Sanctuary, the smell is quite exotic - a bit fruity and a bit spicy. It is hard to describe but I personally love it and I think it's really distinctive.

      *** Like a gel ***
The serum is thicker than hair serums that I have used - it is more like a gel and has a slightly milky-white colour. It is very easy to rub in and it absorbs into the skin instantly so it's really quick to apply. And you don't need much as a little goes a long way. However, it definitely isn't as moisturising as the other Sanctuary products I have used, which is to be expected from a serum.

      *** A lighter choice ***
The lovely smell of this product lingered with me all day which I really liked. I have now been using this most days for about a week and I can't honestly say I've noticed any amazing toning properties - but I didn't expect it to! But this is a really nice serum and makes a change from creams and butters - in fact I think as it is a bit lighter it may be good for holidays rather than winter skin that may need a little more pampering. It's also great if you're in a hurry and want something that you can apply very quickly.

      *** And finally ... ***
Having said this, I think I am more likely in the future to return to my favourite Sanctuary products - this is perfectly nice to use but it's nothing special. And for the price is probably isn't one which I would consider buying again.
