      Buy it, it's wonderful.

I love body butters, and my absolute favourite at the moment has to be Sanctuary Comforting Night Butter, which I initially received in a gift set with other sanctuary products. I think this is the first time I became aware of a body butter specifically designed for use in the evenings, but it seemed like it would be a nice addition to the nighttime routine.

The packaging on mine is different to that pictured above, presumably because it came as part of a gift set. Its a small plastic pot, transparent although it looks slightly off white due to the colour of the cream inside, with a rich purple lid that simply screws off, to reveal the pinkish white body butter within.

The scent of this is glorious. There is nothing on the packaging that really screams out what the scent is, though the product contains both Shea butter and Mango butter. It's a really deep, rich, nose-tingling sort of smell. Something herby, spicy, and quite exotic. It feels enjoyable and relaxing just smelling it, never mind putting it on!

The butter is a thick sort of whipped texture. I was slightly dubious about how well it would absorb, but actually there were no problems at all- It felt cool and soothing on the skin, spread quite well, and absorbed easily, leaving no grease or excess moisture behind, but leaving my body smelling wonderful - so wonderful that even my boyfriend commented on how much he liked it when I got into bed.

I did notice that some dry patches of skin became much smoother over the course of a few weeks of using this, and my skin generally was in great condition. I also loved the fact that the scent of this would rub off onto my bedding, leaving that, too, slightly scented. And I really think it is quite comforting - massaging this in before going to sleep is a great way to wind down in the evening, and slipping between cool scented sheets makes sleep and relaxation so much nicer.

I love this butter. I can't say anything to fault it. It normally retails at 10.25 for 200ml in Boots, but I'd recommend shopping around, as it only costs 3.99 on the TjHughes wedbsite (with £2.49 delivery).

The full 5 stars from me, I think it's wonderful.

Soothes you into a relaxing sleep

I recently ordered a few Christmas gifts from Boots and as they have 3 for 2 I ended up with an extra gift so I treated myself to a Sanctuary sleep set. I have been having trouble sleeping of late and I am waking up in the morning like a zombie before work. I have tried a few other things but I was still struggling to shut off at night time.

I have tried Sanctuary products before and found them to be good so I thought I would give this a try. My set cost £12.50 and it includes various trial sized products from this range. The full size tub is available in Boots where it costs £10.25 for a tub containing 250ml.

My tub is a miniature version of the full sized tub pictured above. It is a deep purple in colour and has a golden coloured lid. The front of the product tells me the tub contains a 'comforting night butter with an expert blend of essential oils'

      Reading the back of the container I can see that the essential oils are;

Ylang Ylang which is said to reduce tension and relieve stress.

      Frankincense to clarify and calm.

Patchouli which helps to reduce anxiety before sleep.

I was pleased to see that this didn't contain Lavender. I am not a big fan of lavender mixes and the majority of sleep products seen to have Lavender in them.

This cream is designed to be used with the other products in the range. You are meant to soak in the bath soak and then exfoliate with the scrub for maximum results.

I followed this step by step as I had all the products to try. After I had finished my bath I applied this cream and took time to massage it in as recommended on the tub you are meant to place the cream in hot water to warm before you apply (obviously leaving the lid on). The smell of this cream is lovely, it isn't too powerful but it has a nice scent that lingers after application.

In terms of the butter itself it has a lovely thick consistency, it also contains shea butter which is deeply moisturising. The blend of oils in this cream is also meant to relax the muscles.

This cream despite it's thickness absorbs really well and I find that I can get dressed quite soon after application.

After using the whole range of these products I felt really relaxed. This cream in particular left my skin feeling soft and smooth with no dry patches.

I have been using this for the past two weeks every few nights and it has helped me to relax. I find that I feel a lot calmer and I feel a lot more 'unwound' before bed. I have since bought full sized products as they are currently 3 for 2. I would recommend this to help soothe and relax you.

4 stars from me I find that the products are very expensive and if it wasn't for the 3 for 2 I don't think I could justify the price.

One Sanctuary product I really love

For my birthday last year one of the presents my little sister bought me was a Sanctuary "sleep" set which was filled with a few various night time products. I really appreciated the sentiment as she knew I was having continuing issues with sleep and whilst I wasn't sure the products would help me sleep I thought they would provide some valuable "me" time where I could pamper myself a bit. One of the products in the set was the spa's comforting night butter and it is that that I shall review today.

The pot that I have is actually only a 50ml pot which came as part of the sleep gift set but the 200ml pot sells for £10.25 both in Boot's and on the Sanctuary website. I would have a look at Boot's for special offers though as they do often do three for two on indulgent bathing and this product would come under that offer. The pot is a glazed white colour for the most part but features a Cadbury's purple coloured lid which has the product name, brand name and logo on there as well. It is a simple yet elegant design which doesn't need to be over the top as it is just body butter at the end of the day and you want what is inside to be impressive as opposed to the packaging. The tub can be recycled after you have used it all and the product is suitable for use for twelve months after opening it.

The product is described as a rich butter which is specially formulated to relax muscles and a special blend of essential oils within the formula will aid sleep according to the Sanctuary website. I have to say it would have been nice to have a little bit of this information on my small tub but perhaps it is present on the larger tub available for purchase in stores. The description of the product makes it sound a good and promising product for pampering and relaxation but obviously the real test is in actually using the product!

To use this comforting night butter you first need to unscrew the lid of the tub. This is easy enough done and I also find it easy to replace even if I still have "buttery" hands after I have used it as well. Upon removal of the lid the smell of this night butter really hits you and I can honestly say it smells heavenly. It contains frankincense, patchouli and ylang ylang and the best way that I can actually describe it is sexy, sensual and divine. It really does smell THAT good! I love the Sanctuary range in general but this range for me is by far the most gorgeous smelling and it really does make me feel a bit more relaxed and happier just as I apply it to my body.

The body butter is of a usual consistency that I would liken with the body shop butters for example and is a creamy off white in colour. It is easy to rub the product in to your skin and as you rub the scent is just magnified even more. It isn't very often that I will say using a product is a real treat but with this one it really is because it smells expensive and sexy and you feel as though you are really being pampered as you apply it to your skin. I would say it would be a lovely butter for a partner to massage on to you with it having such a sensual scent.

The butter is designed to get to work whilst you sleep and leave your skin feeling lovely and soft in the morning and it really does do this. It feels quite an intensive treat for the skin and whilst I don't suffer with dry skin on my body other than the usual places such as knees and elbows I do find that this body butter is a lovely treat and one which leaves me feeling pampered the morning after. What is even more lovely is the way you wake up still smelling of the fragrance!

I have used all of the other things in my set that my sister bought me but once this body butter runs out I would totally treat myself to some more products in the night range because I think they are really special and a lot more like a treat that the likes of soap and glory products which I also use and enjoy. I would recommend this product if you are looking for an easy to use body butter which will leave you feeling pampered and smelling heavenly!

Thank you for reading my review!

Leaves you feeling relaxed and ready for a good nights sleep

For Christmas last year one of my mum's colleagues gave her a Sanctuary spa therapies "Dream time sleep in a box" gift set. My mum tends to stick to brands that she likes using such as Olay and Palmers and is not keen on using body scrubs or bubble baths - strange I know! For this reason any gift sets that she receives usually get divided between me and my two sisters, not that we're complaining! I have used a few products from the Sanctuary range in the past and have been quite impressed so I was pleased to bag this one for myself! The Dream time set contains 4 items from the Sanctuary "night time" range including a 50ml tub of the Sanctuary comforting night butter which I shall focus this review on today.

For those that are unaware of the Sanctuary brand, Sanctuary run a group of one-day spas their main one being in Covent Garden, but they also have some others around the country. They have been around for around 30 years so are a well-established brand. The products that they use on clients visiting the spa are also available on sale in shops like Boots and the skincare products that I received in this gift set are part of that range. Sanctuary explain on the packaging for this range of "Dream time" products the importance of quality rest and regular sleep for ensuring you look and feel your best. For this reason they have developed a range of therapeutic products that not only enable you to enjoy a restful mind and body benefits of a spa treatment at home but are also enriched with skin restoring ingredients and essential oils. I will talk about these in a bit more detail later in the review.

The butter comes housed in a small white transparent plastic tub with a deep purple lid and contains 50ml of product. On the lid is a label with the Sanctuary logo and product name. Out of the gift box the packaging differs slightly in that the pot itself is purple with a gold coloured lid and contains 200ml of product. I must admit the packaging for both the gift set and the full sized product does make it look like a high end luxurious product - I think it's the deep purple colour that does it! The full sized butter retails at £10.25, so it is a fairly expensive product.

As is suggested I tend to use this product at night, applying it just before I go to sleep. On opening the lid I was greeted with a thick, white coloured cream and I noticed the light, sweet fragrance it had straight away, which had a slightly spicy undertone. The butter smells lovely in my opinion and not too floral which is good as this is not a scent that I am keen on. To use, I scooped some product into my hand and started to massage this into my skin, working in circular motions and paying attention to problem parts such as my elbows and knees which tend to get a bit dry. Despite its thick consistency the butter melts into my skin without too much effort and doesn't leave a thick, heavy layer on top, which I have experienced in the past with some butters I have used. It also doesn't feel at all sticky. Just the act of massaging this into my skin leaves me feeling relaxed and thoroughly pampered which then leads onto a good nights sleep, though I am sure some of the ingredients in this butter also have a role to play. Sanctuary advise that this is best applied after an evening shower when the skin is still warm to help it blend in easily, however I don't tend to use it in this way.

In the morning my skin is soft, looks hydrated and has a healthy glow. A hint of the scent still remains but this is washed off in my morning shower. The body butter also does well with dry patches as my knees and elbows have not gone white again with dry skin by the morning, although this only lasts for a few more hours.

The butter is packed with skin restoring ingredients and essential oils including:
-Ylang Ylang which is renouned for reducing tension and stress
-Frankincense which acts to clarify and calm
-Patchouli which helps to reduce anxiety before sleep.

It also contains shea butter, beeswax, mango butter and apricot kernal oil which all act to moisturise and hydrate the skin. The product is paraben free which I was pleased to read as I try to go for products that have as many natural ingredients as possible. Having said that this body butter does also come accompanied with a rather long list of chemical names which was not so impressive.

Overall I must say that I am pleased with this body butter. It blends into the skin easily leaving it feeling healthy, soft, supple and hydrated. This also has a rather pleasant smell and leaves me feeling calm and relaxed and ready for a good nights sleep. Recommended!
