I got this Sanctuary Deep Cleanse Facial Fresh-Faced Purifying Wash as part of a large Sanctuary gift set from my sister for my birthday.
~ Packaging ~
It comes in a 140ml tube, which is a light blue colour. It sits on its flip cap lid. It is fairly plain with black lettering on the front.

This 140ml tube costs £9.00 from Boots or can be purchased online at boots.com.
~ In use ~
The facial wash is an off white colour and it seems quite thin in consistency.
The back of the tube recommends to add a splash of water to the product and to rub it between your hands to activate the foam.
On my face the wash feels thicker than it looks and it is creamy and hydrating. It doesn’t feel like it is drying my skin out like soap can do, but once I have rinsed it off, my skin doesn’t feel particularly moisturised and I do still feel the need to use a moisturiser after using this wash.
The tube suggests that adding a splash of water will ‘activate the foam’, but I wouldn’t describe this as foamy or soapy at all. It produces a creamy lather. It doesn’t foam up.
My skin feels notably softer after using this facial wash and it looks clean. I also notice that it reduces the appearance of my pores.
The facial wash feels like it is good quality and you don’t need to use a lot of it to get a good coverage.
The scent of the face wash surprised me. It is quite a harsh, heavy floral scent. It reminds me of geranium. I don’t mind the scent, but I can’t imagine that it will be to everyone’s taste. I can’t smell it on my skin after using the product.
The tube states the face wash is naturally fragranced with plant extracts and essential oils.
Since I started using this facial wash it has quickly become my face wash of choice and I have often chosen to use this in favour of the other face washes I have including more expensive brands.
I expected this face wash to cost around the ten pounds mark and I do think it is worth the price, but to be fair I think that other face washes do the same job and I can’t say that this one produces better results, but I do prefer to use this one.
I would recommend this face wash and I would buy it again. I like the creamy feeling of it and I like how it improves the appearance of my skin. The tube has lasted quite a while so far.
At GBP2.99 for 50ml I paid too much for this "Fresh Faced Purifying Wash" by the Sanctuary and probably wouldn''t even had paid the GBP9.00 that a full size (140 ml) bottle would cost from Boots. However, the choice was limited and as I was flying, I could only buy something of 100 ml or less. It comes in a flip cap tube which stands safely on end when closed. The blue tube is simple and attractive, making this look like a quality product. The fragrance is light and fresh, vaguely botanic and with a very vague hint of grapefruit. The face wash is a clear gel. Sanctuary claims that his products gives a deep cleanse facial experience and that it promotes a "clear, healthy complexion". Perhaps because there is limited space on the packaging, there is little further information on the advantages of this product but the Sanctuary website states: ==Used in the spa for the first step in a thorough cleanse for all skin types, this gentle foaming wash melts away even stubborn mascara while also conditioning and softening skin. Hydrating vitamin E and glycerine help balance the skin''s moisture levels, while extracts of witchhazel, chamomile and cucumber help to cool and soothe to leave it feeling fresh, bright and silkily-soft to touch.== The instructions for use on the reverse of the tube are rather limited and there is no indication as to the amount to use, or whether to apply to wet or dry skin. In the end I just did what I thought most likely dispensing a small amount into my palm and working it into a gentle lather before applying to wet skin. The lather created is rich and creamy and moves easily around the skin. Rinsing off is easy and no residue is left. I also tried applying the face wash to a damp flannel and applying a little pressure as I applied to my face because I had really wanted a scrub, not a face wash. This left my skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated. There''s a faint fragrance left on the skin after rinsing but it doesn''t distract from any fragrance I later apply to my neck. Once my face was dry my skin felt smooth and soft. I have slightly sensitive skin but haven''t experienced any tingling or irritated skin after use. I have not been able to source a full list of ingredients to paste here; the one on the packaging is too small to read easily. This product is paraben free but does contain sodium laureth sulphate which may be an issue for some consumers. I can only say that I liked this product. It did what I expected from a brand of this quality and reputation but it failed to wow me.
In the run up to Christmas I bought the Sanctuary Spa "Star Gift of the Week" when it was on offer at Boots. Included was this face wash, which I have since been using as part of my daily skincare routine. At full price the face wash would set you back £9 for 140ml, which sounds a lot but it lasts ages so is actually not bad value for money.
The product details tell us that this gentle foaming wash will melt away impurities and make up, including the most stubborn of mascara. Despite this, it remains gentle on the skin and will leave your face feeling conditioned, smooth and soft. I don't wear a lot of make up, preferring to use tinted moisturiser rather than a heavy foundation, but I still find that most facial washes don't remove my make up very well, and I am constantly replacing make up stained face towels.
There's not much to say about the packaging, other than it looks classy and I'm happy for the blue tube to be on display in my bathroom. I would have preferred a flip lid rather than the screw top one they've used, simply through laziness but it's not a huge issue. At least with the screw top lid you can transport the face wash without worrying about it leaking.
This is one of the foamiest (is that a word?) face washes I have ever used, and you only need a tiny amount to create a lovely foamy lather. I discovered this on first use, when I ended up using far too much and looking like I'd been to some kind of 18-30s foam party!! It smells really clean and refreshing, I'm not sure what it smells of exactly but I can detect a faint smell of cucumber I think. It's quite subtle though, which is reassuring because my face can react to highly perfumed products if they contain too many unnatural ingredients.
I am finding this face wash to be very effective at removing dirt and make up, and the proof of this is that my towels are no longer being stained when I dry my face. It leaves my face feeling fresh and deeply cleaned which means it's not only great for removing make up at the end of the day, but is also ideal for using in the morning to wake yourself up and get your face feeling fresh and clean to face the day ahead. My skin can be quite sensitive, especially on my face, but this is a gentle product so I have not had any kind of reaction or irritation whilst using this. It also doesn't make my face feel tight like some face washes can.
I really like this face wash, and despite the high price I have been using it for about six weeks with plenty left in the tube. This is probably because it foams up so well, so a little goes a long way. I would certainly recommend this face wash.
~*~*~ Sanctuary Fresh Faced Purifying Cleanser ~*~*~
I was given this facial cleanser as a gift at Christmas, along with a whole host of other Sanctuary goodies. I love Sanctuary products, however I find them quite expensive, so I usually asked for these for my Birthday or Christmas present.
Usually I only use a face wipe to remove my make-up, followed by a beauty serum. I have noticed recently that my skin doesn't look very clean after using a wipe. I normally use a wipe in bed where there is no mirror, so it is very difficult to tell whether I have taken all my make-up off. I do this because it is easy and fuss free, although I have recently been taking more time and effort on cleansing my face. Please see below for my thoughts on how I found this cleanser.
~*~*~ What Is It? ~*~*~
This is a daily facial cleanser by Sanctuary. It comes in a light blue, plastic tube with a white, plastic, flip-top lid. On the front of the tube is the Sanctuary logo, what it is (Fresh-faced purifying wash), what it does (Your daily cleanser for a clear, healthy complexion) and how much the tube holds (140ml). On the back of the tube is the ingredients, how to use and a warning to avoid contact with eyes.
This product contains vitamin E and glycerine, which helps to balance the skins moisture levels, and extracts of witch hazel, chamomile and cucumber, which helps to cool and soothe the skin.
To use, you squeeze out a small amount of product on to your hand and mix with water to activate the foam. You then rub over your face and neck in a circular motion, then rinse off with warm water.
~*~*~ Price And Availability ~*~*~
This cleanser can be purchased from Boots for £8.99. I have also seen it being sold on Ebay for a fraction of the price.
~*~*~ My Thoughts ~*~*~
When I was given this cleanser I could not wait to use it. It was something that I was planning on investing in but just hadn't got round to buying one. Upon first inspection of the tube I thought that it was pretty plain looking, with the writing on the tube being in black and the main body of the tube in a baby blue colour. The tube is plastic and flexible, which makes it easy to squeeze the cleanser out.
This cleanser can be used to remove make-up, although I usually use a wipe to remove my make-up before cleansing. I have used this a hand-full of times to remove waterproof mascara, which is does with ease. This is much easier than tearing all my eye lashes out with a wipe. The colour of this cleanser is white, and the consistency is thick and creamy. To use, I squeeze out a pea-size amount of cream into the palm of my hand and add a splash of water. I then rub my hands together to create a foam and then rub into my face, using circular motions. I continue rubbing into my skin for a minute or two and then rinse off with warm water.
This cleanser foams up easily, with very little effort. When I am rubbing this into my skin it feels like it is deep cleaning and hydrating. Once you have rinsed this cleanser off with warm water it does not leave any residue on your face, and it feels instantly refreshed. I like products that contain witch hazel and cucumber as I find them very soothing. I was really impressed with the results from this cleanser, my skin felt smoother and cleaner, and looked brighter.
The fragrance of this cleanser is quite a fresh scent, I can definitely smell the witch hazel, which I personally quite like. I would say it not the best smelling cleanser I have ever use, but them I am not too keen on rubbing a cleanser which is full of perfume on my face. I have psoriasis and I have found this cleanser to be incredibly gentle on my skin.
I have been using this cleanser every evening for the last month and I still have over half a tube left. I would say this tube would last around 3 months, if you are only use a small amount each time. I would say a little goes a long way with this cleanser, and considering it is only £8.99, I would say that it is great value for money. I will definitely be re-purchasing this once the tube is empty.
~*~*~ Would I Recommend? ~*~*~
Yes, I would definitely recommend this cleanser. It really does what it is meant to do. It cleans my face, hydrates my skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth. It is one of the best cleansers I have ever used. I think this cleanser is a bargain for £8.99, and I will be buying more. Overall I give this cleanser 5 out of 5 Dooyoo stars!
Thanks for taking the time to read my review :)
This product from the Sanctuary is a daily cleanser for a clear, healthy complexion. It is a cleanse for all skin types,its a gentle foaming wash that will melt away even stubborn mascara while also conditioning and softening skin. It is made from the following;
Vitamin E- to help skin balance and mouisture
Glycerine- to help skin balance
Witchhazel- to fight spots
chamomile- to soothe and restore skin
Cucumber- to refresh tired skin
It is avaliable Only at Boots and a 140ml tube is priced at £8.99
Boots is against animal testing so product is not testing on them, and the tube lasts 12 months. It is also paraben free.
It comes in a nice pale blue tube with a white cap, it stands upside down and has black writing on it. The wash itself is a pearly white colour which is thick in consisteny and is naturally fragranced with plant extracts and essential oils. To me the smell is hard to pinpoint wht is in it, but it is a pleasent smell. Although it does smell quite strong when you are wearing it. when using the wash it lathers up nicley to a smooth bubbly white wash, after washing it off, which is easy enough it makes my skin tingle, and my skin feels really fresh and clean.
Directions of use-
1- wet face with warm water
2- work the wash over the face in upwards circular motions using your fingertips.
3- rinse thoroughly with warm water.
*do not get in eyes*
I find this wash works very well for me. The day after Iv used it I notice my skin to be brighter and clearer. It has a really nice consistency to it and its actually easy to wash off without leaving any of it behind. The smell is pleasent but can be strong. I also love the tinglely clean feeling I get aftewards and the matte appearence it gives my skin. I have problematic skin and using some products really flares it up, but this one doesnt. i would say it actually calmes it. The price is a bit steep Ithink however a little goes a long way and after 6 months of every other day use, Iv still got a third of the tube left.
Well worth the money and i would recommend you to try.
Thanks for reading and rating.
