“ Brand: Senscience / Type: Moisturising Lotions / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I am in my early twenties and yet I have the skin of a teenager which is ironic because during my teenage years I had really clear skin! Although my skin is a lot better than it used to be I still have a crop of unsightly spots which just refuse to leave! Having a thorough step by step skincare routine is the best way to combat this so I decided to get serious do some research and start to rehabilitate my skin.
As a frequent reader of beauty blogs, magazines and newspaper beauty supplements I was aware that for clear, happy skin exfoliation is mandatory to remove the dead skin cells to help ensure pores don't get clogged. I had used exfoliators in the past which contained micro-beads which would rather harshly buff the dead skin cells away but always left my skin a little too stripped. Even problem skin needs its natural oils otherwise when its stripped of them it produces even more oil to compensate. Acid exfoliators are becoming increasingly more popular and mainstream and this is basically what Alpha H liquid Gold is - an acid exfoliator treatment.
There is A LOT of hype about this product on the internet so I had high hopes that it could aid me in my quest for clear skin. It is rather expensive so I went for a 30ml bottle which was a part of a set on QVC so I could road test it instead of shelling out for a larger size. It comes in pretty basic packaging, it is very clean and professional looking, almost clinical.
After cleansing the face you are meant to moisten a cotton pad with the solution and swipe all over the face. I did feel a little tingly but it is not harsh or drying in any way. The instructions state that if you want an intensive treatment then do not apply any moisturiser or serums. Otherwise if you simply can't go to bed without your moisturiser you can go ahead and apply it but the results will not be as significant. I always applied the product as instructed without applying anything after it and then went to bed. Depending on your skin type and sensitivity it is suggested to use the product 2 or 3 times a week, because my skin is really clog prone I alternated between 3 and 2 times a week depending on how my skin was behaving.
To be honest I really did not see an improvement in my skin, I felt it working the night before but when I woke up in the morning my skin looked the same. My skin looked a tiny bit "brighter" but it was only very slight and something that no one other than me would notice.
I bought mine from QVC as they have great sets and I got to try out a few products as well as the liquid gold. Furthermore, they have a money back guarantee so if the products don't work for you, you can send the back and get a refund - quite amazing when it comes to skincare! Otherwise this is available at other online retailers such as Amazon or thebeautybay.
As I have already said I purchased mine as a part of a set, if you are buying it alone then 100mls starts at £29 or 200mls for £37 (both prices from QVC).
It is really hard to write a review about skincare as everyones skin is very different yet form reading reviews this product seems to work for a large variety of skin types. I did try using it with a number of different cleansers so I could try and isolate any effect but in each case it just had no effect! I will definitely not be re-purchasing as it had no effect on my skin, I may as well have been dampening the cotton wool with just water for all the good that it did me! I would suggest buying from QVC as at least you can return it if it doesn't work for you as £29 is a lot for something that just doesn't cut it!
I first read about this via www.amodelrecommends.com. Every woman in the world is out looking for that product that's going to make their skin glow, rid them of blemishes and overall just make them look beautiful.
I picked this product up on beautybay.com where they had an offer for an alpha h pack costing around £40. The alpha H liquid gold cost £30 anyway for 100ml so i thought that was an amazing offer and snapped it up right there and then.
Alpha H is an australian brand that believe they do not need fancy packaging to sell their products as the products sell themselves. As such the liquid gold comes in an all white bottle with a flip top lid. The bottle has black writing with the name, ingrediants and usage directions. It also comes with an extra lid, but tbh i think this is a waste of packaging, and i also lost it in about a week.
The product itself is a chemical exfoliant. It contains glycolic acid and it aims to resurface your skin to leave you looking healthy and glowing. Alpha H claim that the gylcolic acid drops the pH of your skin so that it has to work harder to get it back up, making it healthier while eating away all the dead skin cells on your skin.
You are advised to use this product every other day before bed, but i use it maybe two times a week as i am young and don't feel i need to use a lot yet. A few drops on a cotton wool pad, swept all over your skin. Its a very thin serum, almost as thin as water, and it is yellow in colour. When on your skin it tends to give a tingling sensation and then settles.
In the morning my skin did seem quite bright and glowy, but also oily, however it didn't feel dry, but smooth and soft. The areas of my skin that often tend to get irritated was absolutely fine. After a few weeks skin looked noticably better, smaller pores and clearer skin. Its honestly great. I really love it.
If you have blackheads and large pores you will know how hard it is to shift them and close pores making them smaller. I have tried blackhead pore strips, blackhead cleansers, facial masks, pore minimising facial washes including scrubs, I have tried the lot, and you've guessed it nothing works. I am still left with blackheads that get worse over time and my large pores remain large.
Comedones, also known as blackheads occur when sebum (oil) gets trapped in your hair follicles. Cells from your skin lining in your upper hair follicle mix with sebum forming a hard plug at the surface of your face resulting in a blackhead. Blackheads are not black, they only turns black when oxidation in the air gets mixed with your exposed sebum turning it black on contact.
Blackheads are common on everyone but more common on skin types including; oily, combination, acne, problematic, congested and ethnicity (different race skin).
When I came across my new skin care routine Alpha H they have a product called Liquid Gold, I heard about this product via a shopping channel and thought it sounded brilliant. I received a small sample when I purchased my Clear Skin Starter Kit and I was so impressed I purchased their full 100ml size, which you can purchase from qvcuk.com for £25.00 or their super size in 200ml for £32.52.
Liquid Gold is Alpha H's most famous product as one bottle is sold every second around the world. It is a powerful night time treatment that resurfaces and firms the skin, on contact it helps to kick start your skin's metabolism, which in turn you receive a healthy cell turn over and less congestion. Liquid Gold helps tighten pores that are enlarged and delivers a brighter and more even skin tone as well as targeting blackheads to the root. It is a powerful treatment for acne and problematic suffers.
Liquid Gold's powerful ingredient Glycolic Acid, which is in a category called Hydroxy Acids (AHA). Glycolic Acid naturally occurs in sugar cane, other AHA can occur from fruits and dairy products. Glycolic Acid is a well known ingredient to help with skin dryness, acne, ageing as well as other skin complaints. As Glycolic Acid is so small it is able to penetrate deeper into the skins pores giving you a more dramatic result. Usual products like exfoliators just scratch the surface of the skin and remove dead skin cells where as Glycolic Acid targets problems deeper in your skin while lifting out impurities.
Glycolic Acid Extract is also brilliant for dissolving the bonds that hold the dead skin cells together as well as resurfacing. Because of this you're new live skin cells are left exposed to daily elements and are at risk to premature damage.
Glycolic Acid is widely used for skin problems such as, acne, brown spots, uneven skin tone, ageing, facial circulation and small scar reduction caused by acne.
Liquid Gold also has an ingredient such as licorice extract, this helps to firm and refine the skin.
As well as all Alpha H's packing it is very minimal, liquid gold comes in a 100ml while bottle with a black stripe at the bottom and black writing.
The liquid product smells a little medicated but this soon disappears and you can smell the licorice coming through.
To apply this product, simple cleanse your face of all makeup and pat your face so it is dry. With a clean dry cotton pad (You can also damp the cotton pad and apply liquid gold but I have found this to be less effective and dilutes the product). Applying some of the product to my cotton pad the product actually has a gold tone in colour, sweeping it across my face like you would a facial toner, avoiding your eye contour area and your mouth.
Straight away you will feel the Glycolic Acid working as you will feel your skin tingling a little, this dies down within a few minutes and is nothing to worry about. If you have very sensitive skin I would do a patch test before applying to your face, I have sensitive skin and this product is fine with me.
It tingles as the Glycolic Acid is penetrating your skin cells deeper than other skin care products can. After you've done all this is it best not to apply a moisturiser afterwards but if you really want to apply a moisturiser it is better to apply it lightly after all the liquid gold has penetrated into your skin and your skin is touch dry, this is when I apply my eye cream.
After application my skin looks a little red but this goes within a few minutes.
It is the quickest night time treatment I have ever used and takes me less than a minute to apply, the hardest part of this routine is stopping myself applying anything else.
You only apply this product every other night, if you use it more than this yes you will see a result quicker but your skin can also have a adverse effect of liquid gold and you're skin may become worse again, also due to glycolic acid too much application may effect your skin to become red and sore.
Don't be worried about not going to bed without a moisturiser; Liquid Gold is designed to hydrate your skin.
The next morning I wasn't expecting to see a vast difference and in all honestly I didn't but I did notice my skin was not dry and I was expecting this a little due to no moisturiser. Applying it three times a week in the first week of use I started to see a difference in the appearance in my skin. I first started to see a difference in my blackheads on my nose and chin, instead of being very black and deep rooted they we're now very light looking and almost gone. Congestion around my chin felt and looked a lot better, my skin felt and looked a lot brighter, cleaner than before and even toned. Within a month of use my congestion has lifted around my chin, before my skin was bumpy, rough, blackheads we're visible. Now my chin is visibly smother, blackheads are not visible, in fact they have cleared up and the ones that are there are very light and hardly noticeable and will clear very soon. The same goes for around my nose where blackheads are concerned, before they we're very visible, now they've nearly cleared up and as to my open pores, well their visibly smaller, when makeup is applied my skin actually looks flawless.
If you have very congested skin like I had you may experience more spots at first like I did. But this is due to congestion that needs to come to the surface first before it can clear, so if this happens to you it is completely normal. At first with me I thought the product wasn't working and a waste of time, now I am very glad I kept on with this product as it really has done wonders.
Every time I use this product the next morning looks like I have had a facial, my skin is glowing, clear, even toned, smooth, congested has cleared more, smaller pores and less blackheads, basically everything I have ever wanted for my skin and it is right here in a 100ml bottle.
If you've got blackheads you're more likely to be prone to them, this product helps to get rid of blackheads deep down but if you stop using Liquid Gold your blackheads will reoccur.
Amazingly once you've opened this product it needs to be used within 24 months, which I think is brilliant for a liquid product, this is a truly fantastic product and one I will never be without.
A 100ml bottle will last you months as you need only a small amount so price wise it is great value for money.
I got a 50ml bottle of this with an Alpha-H kit I purchased from QVC. This product, Liquid Gold, had gotten good reveiws online and so I decided to try it out.
First, let me just state that this product is not suitable for anyone suffering a skin condition e.g. psoriasis or eczema, on medication or who has inflammed skin on the face. People with sensitive skin should probably not use this either. The reason is that it contains glycolic acid as its active ingredient which will aggravate your condition. The bottles all state this on the back. But for all other skintypes this will be fine.
What this liquid does is it essentially exfoliates your face using glycolic acid. Now don't be scared by this! These products contain around 10% glycolic acid (a chemical face peel at a salon would contain at least double if not triple that amount) so your not going to end up looking like a beetroot or burning off your face!
After cleansing your face, you wet a cotton pad with the liquid gold and then sweep it over your face, avoiding the eye area. You will probably feel a tingling sensation - it's not a sore sensation but you can feel it tingling a little. Once your skin is touch dry you can either apply your moisturiser over the top or for an intensive treatment just leave the liquid gold on itself overnight. I think application of the moisturiser must stop the glycolic acid working hence the fact you can leave it on overnight itself to get an intensive exfoliation.
I think this is actually a nice product. The liquid gold is an actual watery liquid consistency and is a golden brown colour. It doesn't have a nice smell it's kind of alcoholy, but it's not a disgusting smell and once it's been put on you don't smell it at all. After using this and putting my moisturiser on I could really feel a difference to my skin. It felt nice and smooth and babysoft.
I would definately recommend this to anyone with dull, tired and lifeless skin. It will strip all the dry dead skin away gradually revealing the fresh skin underneath. It is expensive - £28 for a 100ml bottle, but it will last an age and if you get it from QVC you can send it back if you don't like it.
I will definately be trying more Alpha-H products after this.
