I have incredibly pale skin - to the point where the lightest shade of most brands of foundation is too dark for me - and I'd like to keep it that way. During the summer, indeed on any hot day from April through to October (yes, really), I am never without my factor 50 suncream. I always wear a lotion specially designed for the face on this area, and in the past I used the Boots Soltan brand, but I found their facial lotion to be far too greasy: it used to give me spots and make my face shine like a mirror! Earlier this year I was very pleased to find that Simple, my favourite skincare brand, make a factor 50 sun lotion for the face, and I promptly bought some.
The product comes in a tube inside a cardboard box, which I'm not keen on from an environmental point of view - is there really any need to sell an already-packaged product in a box as well? The box does have a little bit of extra information on it, such as the ingredients (which are pretty important I guess!) and some information about Simple, including their philosophy which involves never using harsh chemicals or perfumes and always using the purest ingredients. Simple is a brand I trust: I've used Simple products since I was a young teenager and it's the only brand I can guarantee won't irritate my skin in any way, shape or form!
The packaging is attractive but, well, simple, with a white background, the name of the brand and product and a sun to differentiate the product from Simple's normal skincare. I imagine it would be easy to pick up the wrong factor by accident (this lotion also comes in factor 20, 25 and 40) so do watch out.
The tube of the lotion is practically the same. It indicates that the product has 3-star UVA protection (lower than Soltan's 5), contains 1 'vital vitamin' (Pro-Vitamin B5) and no perfume or colour. The 3 star rating originally concerned me slightly, but 3 stars is still classed as good, and I rarely go to hot countries anyway - I'm sure 3 stars is adequate for the UK! Factor 50 is probably over the top as it is! The lotion also contains sunflower extract, which apparently 'enhances the skin's natural defence'. Hey, maybe the picture of the sun on the front of the packaging is actually a sunflower! I can't decide.
This lotion costs £10 (for a 75ml tube), which is expensive, but then so is most suntan lotion. Also, it's currently on offer in Boots - buy one get one free on selected Simple suncare.
Overall I'm really impressed with this product. I'm able to use this instead of my normal moisturiser in the morning and it doesn't irritate my skin at all. My skin is slightly oilier when using this product - that's the nature of all sunblocks - but it's a great improvement on other sun protection lotions I've used. As a sunblock it's great. I spent a week at Glastonbury, often working all day out in the sun, and using this product I've come back as white-faced as when I left, which is brilliant!
I definitely recommend this facial suncare lotion, it's definitely something I'll continue to buy in the future.
I used this last year and am planning to buy again. I find as with all simple products it just suits my sensitive skin but also does not make my face oily on the T-zone and cause spots.
Its surprisingly light for a sun cream and is absorbed in straight away so that you arent left with the greasy heavy feeling that suncream usually gives or a heavy fragrance, because its simple its fragrance free.
It is a face protector but you can use it all over for sensitive shoulders, necks or chests as it comes in 20 to 40 spfs. You need very little and it spreads in easily. It comes in at the usual reasonable simple price range and is a great cheaper fragrance free alternative to piz buin.
You can use it as an anti aging every day moisturiser or a sun protection cream. Very versatile, great!
I have always been a fan of the Simple range as their products are usually very effective and gentle on your skin. This is a sun protection moisturiser for your face and is suitable for every day use as it is very mild. It is a product I will use a lot once the sun starts to make an appearence as protecting your face from harmful rays is very important from an anti cancer perspective and also because exposure to sun increases the aging process and over time will leave your skin looking leathery and dried out.
I found that it has excellent coveridge qualities, I only need a little to cover my face and neck, it is recommended that you apply it a good twenty minutes before going out in the sun. You only need a little but you do have to rub it in quite wellas it is a bit like sun cream in consistency and takes a bit of massaging in to your skin.
It comes in a range of protection, I opted for the factor 20 although the hghest is factor 40, they were all the same price in Boots and you could buy three for the price of two which worked out at about £5 per tube.
It wortks well as a moisturiser on its own as my skin feels nice and smooth when I use it and as such this is a good product and well worth adding to your collection.
