~~~~~~ Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser ~~~~~~
Recently, I received a £1 off coupon for Simple Hydrating Moisturiser (Rich or Light). So when I was spending survey vouchers in Boots I decided that I would get the light moisturiser with my extra coupon. Boots' price for the Simple moisturisers was £3.25 each, so I paid £2.25. It is worth noting that your Home Bargains may have it though (mine does) for just £1.99. I figured 26p extra was acceptable so I could get it on my voucher!
I am not loyal to any beauty products and don't have terribly fussy skin, so I own a cupboard full of different products and tend to rotate a little. If it works for me I keep it, even if I find something I like better I generally go back to everything else at some point. I use a few Simple products and really like them, so my coupon came at a great time!
~~~ First impressions ~~~
I was actually planning to buy the rich moisturiser as opposed to the light as I have a good lighter one for day and fancied a richer one for night! However, when I examined both bottles I decided I liked the sound of the light one's contents better. It contains pro-vitamin B5 which nourishes, softens and smoothes and vitamin E which improves skin condition. It also contains the ever popular glycerin (If it ain't broke...) and Borage seed oil which regenerates and renews the skin. And as it's Simple, it contains no unnecessary ingredients, perfume, colours, or harsh chemicals.
It comes in a white plastic 125ml bottle with a green flip up cap. When you flip this up you can see the dispensing hole which is nice and small. The bottle is typical of Simple, in shades of green contrasting with the white, and I think it is very recognisable as the Simple brand. It has all the info on it about the vitamins and nutrients it contains so it's easy to see at a glance which one you think would be best for you. Unfortunately, it is not easy to see how much you have left at any given point, since the bottle is completely non see-through.
The cream itself is white in colour, and of a very light texture. It is so smooth and soft, it's lovely to use. There is no discernible scent to this which suits me fine as I don't care for heavily scented facial products.
~~~ Using & results ~~~
The first thing that really struck me about this moisturiser is that I need so very little of it. One blob, smaller than a 5p coin, is enough to do my whole face as it spreads on the skin really easily. It is a gorgeous product to use, the consistency is so light and soft and when you rub it into your skin it feels very smooth. You are directed to rub in upward and outward movements and this is what I do. I don't use it on my neck as I have a separate firming cream I have been using there with great results, plus it means any lovely facial moisturisers I get last me longer! Though this bottle is going to last me ages since I need such a small volume each time.
Apparently, this cream moisturises for 12 hours and I have to say that when I use it in the morning my face does feel lovely for the whole day; similarly, when I use it before bed my skin still feels soft, smooth and hydrated when I wake up. As soon as I apply it I can feel it working - any tightness in my face from other products or from my facial wash instantly goes and my face feels supple.
It does seem to take a little longer than others to fully absorb, though it's still within 5 minutes for me, which is perfectly fine and not something I'm wont to complain about. It leaves my face only a little shiny but again this isn't a problem as if I'm not going anywhere then it simply doesn't matter and if I am, well, there's a powder for that. The overall condition of my skin is lovely since I have been using this, it is soft, smooth and feels very springy! I think it may be working it's way to my number one moisturiser spot.
~~~ Recommend? ~~~
Yep, I am giving this moisturiser my full recommendation. It is one that I would definitely buy again even at full price, as for me it's so long lasting. It is lovely to use, works very well and It is marketed as suitable for any skin types, even sensitive skin, and there's no reason for me to think this is not so. This offers excellent value and is a product that is as good as it wants to be.
Summary: A lovely, long lasting light moisturiser
