Simple Kind to Skin Exfoliating Facial Wipes
Advantages: Gentle on sensitive skin, refresh and brighten the face, removes some make-up.
Disadvantages: Can be too rough for some parts of my face, don't exfoliate as much as I'd like.
I often have difficulty exfoliating my face. The skin on this area of my body is very sensitive and most exfoliating scrubs will cause irritation and some sort of reaction. I still want to regularly exfoliate though just to brighten my skin up really and so I decided to purchase a pack of these exfoliating wipes from Simple in the hope that they would do the job without harming my sensitive skin.
Simple are a skin care brand I completely trust and I do only use Simple wipes as they are the only ones which don't irritate my skin, my face seems to be particularly sensitive to facial wipes for some reason! These wipes can be found in the usual places, larger supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug etc and will typically cost £3 - £4 depending on where you purchase them from for a pack of 25 wipes. I bought mine form Tesco when all Simple wipes were on a two for £4 deal.
These wipes come in a dark green plastic packaging with the usual large sticker sealed down to cover the opening the packet and to prevent the wipes from drying out. The wipes contain pro-vitamin B5 which 'actively restores, softens and smoothes' the skin, vitamin E which 'moisturises to improve skin condition' and aloe vera which 'sooths and conditions'. As always with Simple these wipes are free from perfume, colour and other harsh chemicals.
The wipes are easy to remove from the packaging one at a time and the sticker maintains its stick for as long as the wipes last so they don't dry out and become unusable. The unfolded wipe will just about cover both of my hands when laid flat in my palms so they're a decent size. They do feel a little thin but are durable; I've never had one rip or anything whilst I've been using it. They're white in colour and have virtually no scent to them.
One side of these wipes contains lots of little bumps and ridges which are used to create that rough surface which will exfoliate whilst the other side is very smooth and perfect for going over more sensitive areas of the face. The rough side is still quite gentle and I find how harsh this feels depends entirely on how much pressure I apply to the wipe. I tend to be as firm as I can without it hurting my skin so I get the best results. My forehead and cheeks can take quite a lot of pressure and I find myself almost scrubbing away at these areas. My chin and nose is a little more delicate though and I find these too rough to use at all on my neck and eye area (I just flip the wipe over and use the smooth side on these parts of my face).
The results are nice. I feel these wipes give a gentle exfoliation which is a lot better than nothing but not quite as much as I would like. They don't irritate my skin in anyway though so that's a good start! After using one of these wipes my face does feel very refreshed and looks a little brighter and going over any blemishes with one of these reduces redness which is an added bonus. They make pretty good make-up remover wipes too, I often need to go over the eye area with make-up remover to get rid of all of my eye make-up but my foundation comes off quickly using one of these.
I will use one of these in the mornings before cleansing just to brighten up my face and I find them really useful for those mornings I don't have much time, I can just run one of these over my and apply a bit of day cream and my face is ready for the day ahead. Because the exfoliation these offer is so gentle I don't feel like I'm over exfoliating if I use one of these at night too, although it is rare that I'll use one of these twice a day I don't see any harm if I do.
All in all they're pretty decent. Good at cleansing and removing make-up and offers my sensitive skin a little exfoliation without irritation. I'd recommend if you do have sensitive skin although if not I'd stick to something which offers a stronger exfoliation.
Summary: A quick and easy to way to gently exfoliate sensitive skin.
