Advantages: Gentle, cheap, effective, no nasty ingredients
Disadvantages: None
I've used quite a lot of different brands of make-up removing & exfoliating wipes over the years and one of my favourite brands would have to be Simple.
Their exfoliating wipes are brilliant and they've been a part of my daily skincare routine for the past year or so. The wipes come in packs of 25 and retail at around £3.00, which I'm quite happy to pay as they do what they're supposed to and are good quality. In my opinion £3.00 is not only very affordable but great value considering that a pack will last me for at least two weeks. I usually buy mine from Superdrug but Boots and various supermarkets sell them as well, so they're really easy to get hold of. The manufacturers describe the wipes as having a 'perfect blend of active ingredients and vitamin goodness' which gently remove dead skin cells and keep your skin 'revived and revitalised'.
They are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. I've tried so many face wipes that claim to be suitable for sensitive skin yet make my skin sore and red, but these really do live up to the claim and I've never experienced any irritation or nasty reaction from using them and my skin is incredibly sensitive and problematic! They're not at all drying, either. The wipes come packaged in a neat square shaped packet which is made from a thin plastic type of material. The packet opens by pulling up the little piece of sticky, thin plastic film and once I've got a wipe out I always make sure that I stick it back down properly so that the wipes don't dry out. The colour scheme of the packaging is the usual green and white and it is instantly recogniseable as a Simple product.
The branding is good with everything that a consumer would need to know written on the front and back of the packet including the brand and product name, a brief product description and a list of ingredients. It also states on the front of the packet that there is no perfume or colour used in the ingredients and the wipes have 2 vital vitamins and one skin loving nutrient. The vitamins are vitamin E and vitamin B5, both of which soften, smoothen, moisture and nourish the skin. The 'skin loving nutrient' is aloe vera, which soothes and conditions. Considering that these are so affordable I was impressed with just how many natural, nourishing ingredients are in the ingredients and I feel happy knowing that the wipes don't contain any nasty chemicals. The wipes themselves smell fresh and clean which is especially good in a morning because the smell and moist feeling leave me feeling really fresh.
The wipes are a good size and pretty thick - I can easily use both sides of each wipe without it starting to fall apart. They're very moist but not to the point of being dripping wet which I like and they aren't greasy or sticky - there's never any residue left behind on my skin, just a slight dampness. I usually only need one unless I have an excessive amount of make-up on and I usually use a make-up removing wipe prior to using these wipes - these manage to get rid of all traces of my make-up though and easily remove any stubborn bits of mascara. The texture of the wipes is only very slightly raised and although it feels very gentle on my skin I can still feel it working. My skin is always left feeling clean, fresh, soft and smooth - never irritated or red. The slight dampness on my skin from using the wipe dries within a matter of 30 seconds or so and doesn't leave any greasy or sticky residue behind.
Overall, highly recommended!
