      Excellent budget moisturizer

Following on from my success of the Simple Cleansing Lotion, I thought I would do a review of the moisturizer I bought as well. I bought this following a reaction to the Vitamin E moisturizer that I had been using. The perfume in it left my skin red after using it and it wasn't really moisturizing my skin anymore. In fact it seemed to just sit on the surface of my skin and make it greasy.

When I looked up what products would be best for my skin, I kept seeing articles about dehydrated skin. I thought this definitely wasn't me, as although I do have mostly dry skin, I do have areas that get greasy and break out. However, I soon found out dehydrated skin simply meant lacking in water and that you could have greasy skin and dehydrated skin too. My skin tends to be dehydrated because I don't drink enough water during the day (naughty me) and am stuck in a building with central heating going most of the day, which left my skin very thirsty. Most moisturizers just sat on the surface of the skin and didn't penetrate it, causing me to break out.

I researched products for dehydrated skin and many were very expensive, until I came across this one from Simple. It's non greasy, moisturizes without being thick or heavy and has SPF to boot. From the first use my skin looked less red and more vibrant. I actually find myself checking my reflection in the mirror because my skin has never looked this good without makeup! At less than £5, this is somewhat of a miracle for me after previously shelling out £30 plus on moisturizers.

My only complaint is about the packaging, because it's not a tube, I worry that I might not be able to get all the product out or that it will run out quickly.

A fantastic moisturisier from simple - highly recommended :)

      Simple Hydro Cream Facial Moisturiser

      - Simples description

"Our Moisture Boost Hydro Cream is a perfect blend of active ingredients and Lotus Flower goodness to give dehydrated tired and dull skin a boost of hydration. The light texture absorbs instantly into the skin to rapidly replenish moisture levels and lock moisture for 24 hours. Perfect for even sensitive skin."

      - Ingredients

"Aqua, Paraffinum Liquidum, Petrolatum, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Panthenol, Sucrose Laurate , Tocopheryl Acetate, Methylparaben, 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Lecithin, Propylparaben, Sodium Citrate, Pantolactone, Sorbic Acid, BHT, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract , Citric Acid".

      - About the product

As with all simple products, this moisturiser does not contains any perfumes or colours that could potentially irritate the skin. This moisturiser has been dermatologically tested and approved. The main ingredients include: Lotus flower which optimizes hydration, Glycerin to hydrate/nourish the skin and vitamins to smooth and soften the skin.

      - Packaging

The bottle contains 50ml of moisturiser and the moisturiser is dispensed using a pump dispenser. I have been using the simple normal rich moisturiser and I have been doing so for years but it does not have a real dispenser on the bottle so it has always been a little bit messy using the moisturiser - but this product has a pump dispenser which is great. The pump dispenser allows you dispense as much product as you want very easily and you can control exactly how much moisturiser you want. The pump means that it is also more hygienic to use when compared to their rich/light normal moisturisers. The bottle is very light, it is made out of plastic (so it may be able to be recycled) and it is great for traveling. I took this moisturiser with me when I when on a cruise (about two weeks ago) and it was great for traveling due to small size and light weight bottle. But even though the bottle is light it does feel really durable and it did survive a week of being lost, dropped and it also survived four flights.

      - Appearance, consistency and texture of the product

The moisturiser looks like a normal moisturiser, it looks exactly the same as simple's rich and light moisturisers. The product is white in colour and it does not have any real scent to it - it just smells clean and fresh. This moisturiser has a really thick consistency, if you put a pump of this product on your hand it will not slide off or move off your hand at all. It also has a really nice, smooth even texture too, which makes it very nice to apply.

      - Using the product

I have really dry skin, due to the curse of having eczema! So I have to use this product everyday, I use it as a normal moisturiser in the morning before my foundation and I also mix it with my foundation (to make my foundation more moisturising and also to lighten my foundation very slightly).

The moisturiser is white but after about five seconds of massaging/applying the product to my skin the colour of the moisturiser changes from white to completely colourless, so it is suitable for all skin tones.

I use this in the morning before my foundation (and after I have cleansed my face) and I use about a 20 pence size amount of moisturiser everyday (this includes the moisturiser I use normally and the amount that I use with my foundation).

I apply this product with my fingertips and I just dot a small amount of moisturiser on my forehead, cheeks and chin and then massage the moisturiser into my skin being careful not to pull the skin very much (as it could lead to pre-mature wrinkles - 19 is probably a bit too soon to be thinking about wrinkles though! Although it is probably best to start early).

It only takes me about a minute or so to apply the moisturiser all over my skin and to make sure that the drier areas of my skin have more moisturiser than other slightly oily areas. While the moisturiser absorbs my skin looks and feels a bit greasy, although this effect does not last very long as it only takes about two/three minutes for the moisturiser to be completely absorbed into my skin.

      - Results

I love the how this moisturiser makes my skin feel - firstly when it is just applied it makes my skin feel a bit greasy/oily but when it has fully absorbed into my skin it makes my skin feel so smooth, soft and hydrated. It is a gorgeous moisturiser is a a fantastic base and it is also fantastic when I mix it with my foundation to make foundation more moisturising. Due to its smooth texture, it applies so quickly and easily and it is just a great moisturiser - especially as my skin is sensitive, again due to the eczema, it works really well. Overall, it really moisturises my skin and my skin tends to hold onto that moisture for most of the day and it also does not irritate my skin.

      - Longevity

I have had one tube of this moisturiser for about two months now and there is still some moisturiser left in it - you will not be able to cut this tube open and get the left over moisturiser out (as it will be dangerous and it is not really worth it) but there is some moisturiser that gets wasted at the bottom of the tube (this is the same product that urban decays original 'genie bottle' primer potion had too). One tube has lasted me about two months, so I have bought another tube, and I don't usually re-purchase skin care products! But this works so well, I had to re-purchase it.

      - Price and availability

I bought both tubes of this moisturiser from Superdrug and both times I payed £5.99 I think, which is a good price, in my opinion - as it lasts for about two months or more and it works so well. It is currently on offer in superdrug and it is now priced at £3.99 (save £2 but I don't know how long this offer will last). It can also be purchased from Tesco and boots.
