Advantages: works fine
Disadvantages: nothing luxurious
Sometimes when I'm wanting to treat myself I spend a fortune on beauty products as I like to think that I am giving myself some luxury but actually I have found that sometimes it is the simple things that work the best and end up failing to disappoint and the Simple range is one which does just that. I have several items from this range and have been really pleased with what I have experienced from them so far.
This moisturiser comes in a very boring looking bottle, there is nothing special about it but that is what the Simple range is all about- simplicity. No fancy pictures, unique designs or exotic lids to contend with instead you know exactly what you're getting just by looking at it. It's a white, opaque tall and thin bottle with green writing and a green lid which you just pull off. It doesn't matter that it doesn't look anything special it's what it does and if it works that matters as far as I am concerned, for this price especially.
The lid pulls off to reveal a very small hole with which the moisturiser comes out of. The bottle isn't too hard so you can squeeze it to help get the cream out. I find that squeezing is the best technique, if you just hold the bottle upside down it can take a while/not come out at all because it is quite thick and the hole isn't very big. I put a cotton wool ball over the hole, hold it upside down and squeeze it. This makes only the amount of cream that I need to come out, if I didn't use a cotton wool ball I think I'd end up with excess amounts.
The moisturiser is quite thick and very cool so when you put it onto your skin it has a soothing effect. I have actually put this onto sunburn before and it has helped cool it down instantly as with sore, dry skin. I apply about a pea-sized amount onto my skin and this is usually enough to cover my face. It does take a while to massage in and it stays a bit 'sticky' on contact for a few minutes so I do have to leave it about ten minutes before putting any make up on. I tend to not use this if I am in a rush as it would then effect my make up.
I use this moisturiser twice a day as recommended and find that it helps to keep my skin soft and smooth. It has a faint smell but nothing dramatic just a slight fresh smell which doesn't stay on your skin once applied. It provides a good foundation for your make up too so long as you do leave it enough time to soak in.
I only use this on my face. I have sensitive skin but I have never found that this moisturiser has any negative effects at all so it must be very gentle. I recommend it, yes it could be better if it absorbed faster but I think for the price it is perfectly fine; £1.80 is what I paid for the bottle and I think that this is more than reasonable considering the prices you can pay for other brands.
Summary: simple!
