These aren't my usual face wipes of choice and I hadn't even seen them in the shops myself but when my husband went to a meeting place which had something to do with Unilever and found a shop which sold their products cheaply, he stocked up on a few things he knew we used. One of these things was face wipes and these Simple exfoliating wipes were the ones he came back with. They cost him a bargain 50p but sell in the shops at around £4! This was definitely a bargain!
The wipes come in a pack of 25 and a plastic packet - as most wipes do - with a resealable tab on the top that pulls back to open and then reseals to keep the remaining wipes moist. The packet is green and white - simple's brand colours - with a small amount of labelling on the front. The packet is quite strong and is of good quality. The wipes are the size of average wipes but instantly feel different to the touch. They are not as soft as regular wipes but feel very moist. They smell fresh and soapy but are not overly scented. One side of the wipe is smooth and the other side you can feel is slightly rougher - this is the exfoliating side of the wipe. If you look closely, you can see the wipe is covered in lots of small, raised bumps that give it this texture.
I usually use the smooth side first to remove all make up, grease and dirt from my face. It does this quite well and the residue is evident on the wipe. It even removes waterproof mascara pretty well too which is a definite bonus on the speed stakes! It feels gentle on my skin and not drying either. I then use the exfoliating side on my more grease-prone areas - largely my T Zone - to make sure this is really clean. I do not find that this removes any further dirt or make up to the extent that I can see it on the wipe but it does leave my skin feeling clean and definitely grease free. I usually then follow with either water or a face wash, depending on what I feel is necessary. I use these only in the evenings so a pack will last me around a month.
My skin is generally quite sensitive and other wipes have caused my face to burn up but these have not provoked any kind of reaction. I was concerned that the exfoliating side may be a bit harsh for my skin but it is not at all and does leave my skin looking a bit less dull after use. Overall, these were a good purchase for us! I am not sure I would happily pay £4 for any wipes but if I could pick them up on a good offer I definitely would buy them again.
I regularly purchase facial wipes, as I find them very convenient to use on those occasions when I want to quickly freshen my skin. I generally tend to wear full make up when I am out and about, but during my holiday a couple of weeks ago I decided to go bare faced with my wipes being a life saver, particularly as the weather was fairly hot. Whilst stocking up on my holiday beauty essentials I spotted Revitalising Exfoliating Wipes belonging to Simple and keen to try out a different product my purchase was made with this review discussing my experience.
Identical to that of any other brand, the 25 wipes are hygienically packed in a plastic pouch with a resealable opening contained on the upper section. The bright green packaging is considerably appealing to the eye and creates the impression of clean and fresh. Whilst I generally tend to opt for a basic facial wipe it was the fact that the product is marketed as exfoliating that lured me into my purchase.
I would describe my skin as T-zone where I suffer with oil on my forehead and nose and dry patches on my cheeks. Consequently, it is essential that I purchase specifically designed products, which need to be oil free and I felt assured from studying the ingredients list that the wipes would be perfect, particularly as Simple market their products as suitable for use on all skin types. If you are familiar with the Simple brand you will be aware that their products are not perfumed or coloured.
The oil free wipes are easily removed from the pack one by one as opposed to several being pulled out at a time and they are of a good size and thickness with the seal firmly closing to keep the remaining wipes clean and fresh. The wipes offer a sufficient level of moisture and effortlessly lift away grease and grime whilst offering a wonderful cooling freshness to the skin without leaving my face feeling uncomfortably damp. My skin dried fairly rapidly with no greasy residue remaining. Whilst I was not expecting miracles from the exfoliating properties, which are delivered due to the slight raised texture of the fabric, I was impressed with the results. The wipes were effective at removing a small area of visible flaking that I was suffering on a dry patch on my cheek although they would not substitute my four times weekly facial scrub routine.
As with any brand of facial wipes they can be used to remove make up and whilst they have successfully removed my foundation I have not tried them on the delicate eye area, particularly as I have been suffering a few problems with itching due to hay fever. As the wipes contain a combination of both Vitamin E and aloe vera they deliver a real smoothness to the surface of my skin without causing any dryness and subsequent itching. Many brands of wipes contain alcohol, but Simple have omitted this drying ingredient, so the wipes are extremely gentle and caring for the skin.
Whilst Simple state that the vitamin E ingredient will moisturise the skin I cannot agree with this claim as I suffered a very slight tightness, particularly outside of the T-zone. However, they served their purpose well in terms of cleansing and refreshing the skin together with their exfoliating properties and for that reason they receive four stars from me.
A pack of 25 Simple Revitalising Exfoliating Wipes generally retail at £3.99, which is expensive when making a comparison with other brands. However, at the time of writing they can be purchased from Superdrug for £2.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
Just lately I have been using these wipes almost everyday as I find them a lot more gentle than facial scrubs and they don't irritate my skin or make me break out. I use them after I wash and dry my face and before I cleanse and tone and they keep my skin feeling soft, smooth & flake free!
I bought three packs from Superdrug about two months ago and I only paid around £2 for each pack as they were on offer at the time but I'd happily pay the full price which I believe is around £4. Each pack has 25 wipes and I am on my second pack. My first pack lasted me for around six weeks so the wipes are definitely good value for money.
I only need one wipe for my entire face and because the wipes are thick I can easily use both sides as the dirt and make-up residue etc doesn't seep through onto the other side and the wipe doesn't scrunch up or break apart at all, they're very strong and good quality and they're also quite soft.
The texture is obviously raised so that the wipes exfoliate the skin but the exfoliating aspect of them is really gentle and although they do do the job in keeping flakiness away and keeping my skin smooth I do still feel the need to use a proper facial scrub one or two times a week as my skin is so dry, but these should be exfoliating enough for someone with oily or average skin.
The pack that the wipes come in is re-sealable (the lid sticks back down) so the wipes are kept moist and I find them quite refreshing. They smell fresh and clean and they are as damp as my cleansing wipes so they remove make-up easily from my face as well as exfoliating so they're pretty much a two in one product and my face always feels clean after I have used the wipes, although I usually remove my foundation etc first with my cleanser so that the wipes don't get used up too quickly.
When using the wipes I concentrate mainly on my cheeks & the area between my eyebrows as this is where my skin gets really dry and the wipes leave my skin feeling smooth and soft. They do leave my skin feeling damp after I've used them but the dampness soon dries and I'm not left with any sticky or greasy residue on my skin.
The wipes don't make my skin feel dry, though they don't leave it feeling moisturised either but I don't think that this is a disadvantage given that they are exfoliating wipes and not moisturising wipes! The ingredients of the wipes includes aloe vera & vitamin E and the wipes are oil free.
All in all these are great wipes which are very gentle but effective at smoothening out my skin and keeping it soft and in good condition. The wipes are great at getting rid of any slightly rough/dry patches and dead skin cells. They also leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh and I highly recommend these wipes. Five out of five stars from me!
I prefer make up removal wipes to using 1000's of cotton wool pads/balls, I'm probably a bit lazy to be honest! When I came across these I thought brilliant! I hate exfoliating, it always gets in my hair or feels like there is some left on my face, then you still need to cleanse, tone, moisturise.
First thing I notice is they are about the right consistency, what I mean is they aren't too wet but they aren't dry either. One side of the wipe is 'grittier' than the other, that's the exfoliating bit.
So off I went, there is not really any particular skill required to wipe your face (lucky in my case I suppose). These wipes are brilliant. You feel like your face has had a good scrub, like using a loofah on it, without the pain.
They're really refreshing as well, my skin didn't feel dried out, the wipe doesn't disintegrate which I have found some others do.
One of the best factors is, the smell. Or lack of. Good old simple keep to their high standards. There is no overpowering smell of lavender or jojoba oil or whatever the latest in smell is.
The wipe just gets on with the job of removing your makeup and cleaning your skin, which really is all I want in a wipe! Waterproof mascara? No problem! Full days worth of makeup? gone.
A pack seems to cost on average £3.99 although it is worth keeping a look out as Boots quite often do them on 2 for £4.00 (the extra penny is worth it!
A definite must. Also great for when you've been out, collapsed in bed and not taken off your make up. Use this in the morning and it will breathe new life into your skin!
I decide to try simple face wipes as I have very sensitive skin.
The simple range is an extremely popular range and boast the fact that none of their products contain any colours or any perfume.
The wipes come in a small green and white packet and contain 25 wipes. One side of the wipe is the exfoliate side which feels very rough, and the other is a smooth soothing cleansing side.
You notice when you open the packet that these wipes are very moist indeed. The directions of the packet are as follows:
Remove one wipe. Gently wipe the exfoliating side over face and neck, avoid the delicate eye area. Wipe the smooth side over face, neck and eye area to cleanse and remove make-up.
The exfoliating side of the wipes where fantastic, and after a month of using them once every two days ive noticed that my skin looks a lot smoother, especially on the nose where I suffer from a lot of black heads. I didn't want to use these every day as the exfoliate side is quite rough indeed, and I didn't want to make my skin sore.
The cleansing side leaves your skin feeling cool and refreshed after being exfoliated, and unlike the other side is perfect to use around the eyes and removes stubborn make up like mascara with relative ease.
I would advise these wipes for anyone wanting to keep their sensitive skin smooth and clean. These wipes can often be found on b.o.g.o.f offers in different supermarkets, saving you money when they generally sell for around £2.50 per packet.
Simple is renowned for its skincare products so when I saw Simple revitalising exfoliating wipes on offer at Tesco's for 2 for £4.00 I thought I would give them a try. The normal price is £2.92 for 25 wipes which works out at 11.7p per wipe which is a little expensive. So 50 for £4.00 seemed like a good bargain!
It's a well known fact that Simple products have no added ingredients but just in case anyone didn't know the wipes are in a green plastic packet with the words "no colour no perfume" written all over it and a white resealable sticker. The simple skincare range contains no animal ingredients and all products are dermatolgically approved.
These wipes are double - sided and are used to gently remove dead skin cells, cleanse and thoroughly revive your skin
The wipes are very easy to use you just:
1. Lift the re-sealable sticker and remove one wipe
2. Using the exfoliating side of the wipe, wipe over the face and neck taking care to avoid the delicate eye area.
3. Turn the wipe over to the smooth side and then wipe over face, neck and the delicate eye area to effectively cleanse and remove make up.
4. Finally throw away the used wipe and make sure the pack is properly sealed to prevent the wipes drying out.
On opening the pack I was pleasantly surprised by how moist the wipe was. The exfoliating side feels a bit like wet sand on the skin so I can understand why it says avoid the delicate eye area. On turning the wipe over, it is soft, smooth and gentle like the simple cleansing wipes and I found that it removed most of my eye make-up without much effort, apart from the waterproof mascara which took a bit of an effort as it seemed to clog the lashes in places.
Each wipe contains Aloe Vera which helps soothe and condition the skin and Pro- vitamin B5 which restores, softens and smoothes.
Afterwards my skin felt very clean, soft and refreshed, there was no greasy residue that you can get with some other products.
I have even used them on my feet, to refresh and revive them after a day's work in this hot humid heat.
I will definitely buy them again, if there is another offer.
