I really like using facial cleansing wipes from the Simple range of skincare products, and have tried out several of the assorted wipes from this range in the past. I noticed recently that there were several items within the Simple Skincare range that were in a sort of 'sub range', namely the "Simple Spotless Skin" range which is aimed at providing "Spot Fighting" products. I purchased a few items from this range, with this review outlining my experiences of using the "Quick Fix Cleansing Wipes."
I paid £1.99 for my pack containing 25 Simple Spotless Skin Quick Fix Wipes from a local branch of Savers, the discounted drugstore. You can also purchase these wipes from drugstores such as Boots (www.boots.com) where the current price is a much-inflated £3.85. Additionally, you can purchase from some supermarkets such as Tesco (www.Tesco.com) where the current price is a slightly more reasonable £2.80. It is definitely worth shopping around when it comes to purchasing items from the Simple range, as most items are widely available and prices tend to vary quite a lot. (Info correct as @ October 2013).
The packaging is rather eye-catching, thanks to its bright lime green colouring and attractive design. The wipes are provided in their square-shaped pack in the same sort of design that most other brands of facial wipes are presented nowadays, and I find the Simple Spotless Skin Wipes are housed in packaging that is of a very high quality. Certainly, I have found that the label closure on the front of the pack is made of rather premium materials, and I have never encountered any issues with the label losing its adhesive, which would most likely see the moist facial wipes losing some or all of their moisture and becoming rather useless as a result. This annoying issue often presents itself with rival brands' facial wipe products - and in particular, I have found that cheaply-branded facial wipes will often dry out and become unusable as a result of a poorly-made pack closure. Thankfully, this annoying fault has ever been present with ANY of the wipes I have purchased from the Simple Skincare range.
The Spotless Skin Wipes themselves are white in colour and although they are folded within the pack, they are fairly square-ish in their size once unfolded. Their fabric is soft and although it has a kind of 'woven' texture to it, the wipes' surface is completely smooth. I find too that these particular wipes carry a fairly noticeable aroma, and this is noticeable even as I unfold the wipe ready to use; this is quite unusual for a Simple product, as most of their products are completely unscented, but in the case of the Simple Spotless Skin range, I have found that the few products I have tried have had a sort of mild 'astringent' type of aroma, which would make sense, given these products are aimed at combating spot-prone skin. Even though the wipes have a noticeable aroma, I don't find it is over-bearing, or even remotely unpleasant and I find it to be rather unobtrusive compared to that of many other spot-busting products that I use on a regular basis. I find too that the wipes' scent doesn't hang around too long, and there is pretty much no trace of it left behind on my skin after use.
To use, I simply need to smooth one of the Spotless Skin Wipes across my face, which I find is extremely easy to do. I find too that one wipe is more than ample for my requirements which is quite good; some cheaply-branded wipes can be quite small, requiring me to use more than one to get the best results. Although the Simple Wipes are moist, they are not overly 'wet' so they don't feel harsh or uncomfortable to use on my skin, and I find that they are not overly cold too. After smoothing the wipe over my face, I find that my skin is left without any moisture or residue.
The Spotless Skin Wipes do a fairly good job at cleansing my skin, and I find that they are extremely good at removing my make-up too; even thicker make-up such as foundation or cream products will be quickly and effortlessly removed by the Simple wipes, so I have no complaints in this regard. I like the convenience of these particular wipes too, as even though they are aimed at providing "Visibly Clearer Skin" in terms of my spots and blemishes, I find that they are also perfectly suitable for removing all of my make-up, and this even includes my eye make-up and mascara. For me, this result makes the Simple wipes become far more convenient to use than most other spot-fighting facial wipes that I have used in the past; admittedly, these were excellent at providing care to spots and blemishes, but they contained a strong astringent type of product, or in some cases they even contained a large dose of Tea Tree Oil, making these rival products completely unsuitable for use around the delicate eye area. This means of course that a separate product is required to remove eye make-up instead, and so I do like the effort and time that is saved by purchasing the Simple Spotless Skin Wipes instead.
For those consumers who wear waterproof mascara, it may be helpful to know that the Spotless Skin Wipes can remove this, according to the label on the front of the pack.
In terms of the wipes' effectiveness in dealing with my troublesome, spot-prone skin, I can confirm that I have indeed noticed an improvement, particularly when considering the amount of spots and blemishes appearing in the first place; I do feel that there is some sort of additional cleansing benefit achieved from the use of the Spotless Skin Wipes when compared to other cleansing wipes that are aimed at coping with 'normal' skin. Additionally, I find that the Spotless Skin Wipes offer a little care to blemishes that are already on the skin, and whilst this is admittedly not the best - or strongest - spot-busting product that I own, I do like the fact that these wipes offer a sort of "2 in 1" type of product that cleanses my skin and removes make-up WHILST caring gently for my spots at the same time. This is extremely convenient for me as I touched on earlier, and I do find that the wipes allow me to save a little time and effort during my night-time skincare routine. These results in themselves are probably enough to warrant a repurchase of the product again in the future.
As with all products in the Simple range that I have tried out in the past, I have suffered nothing in the way of irritation or sensitivity to my skin, which is rather dry and hyper-sensitive, and will flare aggressively when inferior or harsh products are used. Based on these results, I do recommend the Simple Spotless Skin Wipes as being suitable for those consumers who, like me, suffer with dry or sensitive skin.
As I have absolutely nothing negative to report about the Spotless Skin Wipes within this review, I do feel the product is completely deserving of top marks in the product rating score, and the wipes do come with my full recommendation too.
I usually clean my face using a facial wash but occasionally when I am really tired, or if I've been on a night out, I will be lazy and use a face wipe. As I have sensitive and spot prone skin, I always have to ensure that the face wipes that I use are of a good quality or I will end up with more spots than if I had just left my make up on. I like Simple as a brand because it is gentle on the skin and it doesn't include any unnecessary spot causing ingredients. My most recent purchase was the Quick Fix Cleansing Wipes which is part of Simple's Spotless Skin collection.
What does the product do?
These wipes promise to remove impurities from the skin and well as removing all traces of your make up. Using anti bacterial and natural ingredients such as Chamomile and Zinc, Simple claims that these wipes will leave your skin cleansed and spot free. Zinc is one of the best ingredients for healthy Zinc as it can be a Zinc deficiency which leads to spots in the first place. The product is free from oil, alcohol, perfume and colour and it is suitable for use on those with sensitive skin.
How do you use the product?
The product is simply to be removed from the packet and wiped over the face until the cloth comes away clean. It is gentle enough to use on the eyes so I have frequently used it to remove my eye make up too.
Packaging and Price
The wipes come contained within a thin plastic green and white wrapper. There are 25 wipes in the packet and you lift up the thin plastic covering and then you pull out the wipes one at a time. They have been packed quite well and the wipes do come out once at a time as they are supposed to. The plastic covering does continue to reclose and so the wipes don't dry out and go to waste when they are not in use. They cost around £3, although I have frequently seen them on offer. They can be bought from stores such as Boots and Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a variety of online websites.
The wipes do have an antibacterial smell but just as promised, there is no added perfume in the product. They feel completely comfortable on my skin and don't irritate my sensitive skin or make it red. They are fairly damp so they do make your face feel like it's having a good clean. I can't see whether it removes impurities from my skin but it definitely does remove make up and this is visible from the amount of make up which is left on the wipe.
It's gentle on my eyes and removes mascara and eye liner. Sometimes two wipes are required to clean my face if I've wearing a lot of make up and it doesn't always remove every single last trace of make up but it does as good a job as any other wipe that I've used. The wipes certainly haven't caused any more spots and my skin does seem clearer and healthier than before. It doesn't dry out my skin or leave it feeling tight and uncomfortable. I feel nice and clean after use.
These wipes work just as well as any others that I have tried. They are gentle on my skin and they remove my make up. My skin is left feeling fresh and clean, and they prevent spots from forming. All in all, these are worth buying if you have skin that is sensitive and spot prone.
When it comes to spots I'm fortunate in that my skin tends to be quite clear. I do get the occasional outbreak though and when I do get them, I really get them! I'll go four or five months without a single spot and then all of sudden I'll get six really big ones pop up around my face and I obviously want to get rid of them as quick as possible. So, when I was recently shopping in my local Tesco looking to purchase another pack of my usual Simple cleansing wipes I ended up picking up a pack of these Simple spotless skin ones instead. I paid £3 for my pack of 25 wipes from Tesco which seems to be the same price as other supermarkets. These are also sold in Boots for £3.85 and Superdrug for £2.
Simple are a skin care brand I've been using for a good few years now and completely trust so I didn't hesitate to give these a try. Simple describe themselves as being 'experts in sensitive skin' and I'd fully back that claim up. I've used many of the available Simple products and none have ever reacted badly to my extremely sensitive skin.
The wipes come in a lime green plastic packet which has 'results from day one' repeatedly written in white all over it. On the front of the packet is that usual sticker that can be found on facial wipes which is easy to pull back to give access to the wipes as well as reseal to ensure they don't dry out. This sticker contains the green Simple logo, the product name and a little product description. This sticker tells us that these wipes help to fight stops, offer results from day one and even remove waterproof mascara. The back of the packet contains information on the ingredients included. These wipes contain Zinc PCA and Chamomile which are the main spot fighting ingredients. These 'absorb excess oil and gently soothe' the skin. The wipes also contain Phytosphingosine which is a natural antibacterial ingredient which 'helps fight spots and blemishes'. As with all Simple products no perfume or colour is added to these wipes so they won't cause any irritation to even the most sensitive of skin.
I find these wipes feel quite thick and there have been a few times where I've thought I had accidentally pulled two out only to unfold the wipe to see there is only one there after all. I do quite like this extra thickness though as they just feel more high quality and I never feel the need to use more than one at any one time. The wipes are extremely smooth as well meaning they're completely comfortable to rub across my face, neck and the extra delicate area of my eyes. They have a very slight scent to them which doesn't really smell of anything much, it's just a 'clean' sort of smell. These are the same size as any other facial wipes I have used and, as usual, are white in colour.
I use two wipes a day, one when I've just gotten up and one just before I go to bed and I use these wipes to start of my skin care routine following the use of these with cleanser, toner and moisturiser. I feel they do a really good job of giving my skin a quick cleanse in preparation for the rest of my skin care products and they effectively remove dirt and make-up from my skin. In fact, these are actually brilliant at removing make-up! Eyeliner, eye shadow and mascara come off really easily and quickly with these and these wipes are by far the best make-up removal method I've ever used. I'm always really impressed by this aspect of the wipes. I wouldn't say these do much in the way of making my skin soft and smooth but that's what my moisturiser is for so I don't mind that too much. They definitely leave my skin feeling clean and refreshed though.
Do they clear up spots? Well, maybe a little. I did use these wipes continuously throughout my most recent spot out break and did notice the size and redness of my spots reducing over a period of a week or so, by two weeks they had completely gone altogether. However I did use these in conjunction with my Witch spot stick which I always finds works pretty well anyway, these just slighted quickened up the process. I certainly didn't see any results from day one and I wouldn't describe these as a 'quick fix' at all. I don't think these would do much in the way of getting rid of spots on their own either.
Despite the somewhat disappointing results in clearly my skin up I have continued to by these purely as make-up removal wipes as honestly, I don't think there is anything else out there that does such a good job! If these were rebranded as make-up removal wipes they'd be a complete winner although the main claim these make is the one they don't really deliver on so I have to knock a star off for that.
I do try and be good and properly cleanse tone and moisturise my face every night so that my make-up is removed and my skin is properly cleansed and looking its best for the next day. Sometimes however after a long day I just can't be bothered and I will be lazy and just use some wipes. I always keep some wipes in my house for just this occasion.
I don't have a particular brand that I always buy and usually just go with whatever is on offer. Because my skin is so sensitive though I do have to be careful with what I use.
I bought these simple spotless skin wipes because I like the original simple wipes as they are gentle on my skin but they also aren't that effective in my opinion so I was hoping that the spotless ones would be a little bit more effective at cleaning and removing make-up but also be just as gentle as the original simple wipes.
The wipes come in a green resalable packet and inside there are 25 wipes. They cost around £4 for a packet which isn't too bad as this seems to be about average for cleansing wipes. Because I don't use them every day a packet lasts me a long time and I find that as long as I remember to make sure I seal them back up properly they retain their moisture ok and don't dry out and become useless.
As cleansing wipes these are really good. They are wet enough to feel that they are going to clean my skin but not so wet that I feel I need to dry my face afterwards which does kind of defeat the purpose of using a cleaning wipe.
They do have a slight antibacterial smell to them but it isn't strong or offensive really.
When using them I find that I only need the one wipe to effectively clean my skin and remove my make-up. They are really good for removing even stubborn eye make-up and I don't find them to be too harsh or aggressive on my skin. They do sting ever so slightly especially around my nose but it is only very slightly and my skin is ultra-sensitive.
They also have the added benefit of containing spot fighting ingredients zinc and chamomile. While I haven't woken up spot free after using them I also haven't woken up with a huge breakout so I am inclined to think that the ingredients must be doing something.
I will definitely be picking up another packet of these cleansing wipes next time I am on the hunt for some as I have found them to be really good and much more effective at removing make-up than the more gentler brands.
I received these Simple facial wipes in a bundle of products with a magazine subscription. I haven't used them much as I save them for travelling.
The pack is similar to a wet wipe packet. Each pack contains 25 wipes. The product and is only available in this size. The packet is white, with bright green and pink. It is very colourful and appealing to women or teenage girls, much like the other products in this range. The pack is small and compact making it perfect for travelling!
How to Use:
To use the product, all you need to do is take a wipe and rub it on your face. It is that Simple! Although these wipes are not strictly for eyes, I find that it takes eye make up off as well! It is great for travelling!
Each wipes is very big, which is great. You can use it for your face, neck or eyes. The wipes are white and folded. They have no smell. The wipes contain Zinc PCA to absorb excess oil and chamomile to soothe skin. They contain an antibacterial and do not contain any perfume or colour.
What is it really like?
As stated above, using the wipes could not be simpler. The large size makes cleansing easy. The wipes are very smooth and soft so they do not irritate the skin. They are very moist as well so you really do get all the benefits! There is no need to wash your face afterwards. I find that once I use it, my skin feels fresh, clean and smooth. My skin also looks much more awake and youthful. It successfully removes all oils so my skin feels nice and soft with being oily. I would not say that these wipes prevent me from getting spots and they do not seem to make a difference. However, they clean my skin fantastically and are great for travelling or using if I have nothing else!
Price and Availability:
This face wash costs £3.85. They are available at most retailers such as Boots, Superdrug or supermarkets. It is easy to find and is not too pricey.
This is a very good product. It cleans my face very well and removes all oils. I doesn't prevent spots or breakouts but it is not a product I would use everyday. I always take it with me when I go away as it is light and contains 25 in a pack. It even removes eye make up such as waterproof mascara so I don't need to take eye make up remover with me as well or cotton wool! I would definitely recommend this as I have not come across any other wipe on the market which as as good or better!
I suffer from acne, but along with acne I also get a few spots which come and go so I thought to tackle them off I would invest in some wipes aimed at reducing/getting rid of spots.
The wipes are by Simple and like most of their products come in a green plastic packet which contains 25 face wipes, although the green is a little bit darker and different.
The front of the packet is quite busy and has lots of information on the face wipes, also on the back is some more useful information/ingredients ect..
Over all, a nice SIMPLE packaging.
So what do the face wipes promise to do?
You can get results from day 1 with their Spotless Skin Quick Fix cleansing wipes.
They are meant to contain a perfect blend of spot fighting ingredients and natural antibacterial goodness too effectively remove make up and impurities which can cause spots and blemishes, they are also great for those with sensitive skin.
I took my time to give you a list of some of the ' Natural and good ' ingredients the wipes contain and what they do:
2 Spot Fighting Ingredients: Zinc PCA and Chamomile absorb excess oils and gently sooth
1 Natural Antibacterial: Phytosphingosine helps fight spots and blemishes
There is no perfume, no colours and no unnecessary ingredients or chemicals so it will not upset your skin!
I picked up mine at Boots for around £3.00,£4.00 which is quite expensive but I hate my skin enough, I had they money and needed wipes which would benefit me.
To use the wipes simply peel back the sticker and pull out a wipe, be careful though cos I often found I pulled out more than I needed and they are buggers to shove back in, plus they dry out more when I have done that! Always reseal too otherwise they will all end up dry.
The wipes are white and a good size and quite damp, they also had a really nice fresh smell about them which was pleasant when using them on my face, but that was the only thing.
Although Simple states these are perfect for sensitive skin my face started to burn, I have noticed this before with other wipes so carried on using as I have never had a reaction from a burning sensation!
My face stopped burning after a few minutes using these, I noticed they were very very bad at getting rid of make up on my face, I wear a lot of make up so this is probably why but still they are meant to help!
I also noticed the wipes started to rip as I used them so I had to use about 3 in all to completely remove my make up.
Afterwards my face was a tad red but it felt quite soft and the burning sensation had gone.
I carried on using these until I ran out but seen no difference in my spots, they stayed as long as usual and the wipes didn't do anything for them, they just hurt them really as going over your face with them when you have all bumps and lumpy spots it really hurt at times.
I know this is part of a range so maybe it was because I haven't used the full range!
Over all, wouldn't buy again.
I have always suffered from spot prone skin, however it has recently become worse after I started using a new method of contraception. In an attempt to banish my spots I have been willing to try anything and everything to get rid of them and came across the new Simple Spotless Skin range while doing my usual shopping in Tesco.
***Who are Simple***
Simple were established over 50 years ago after introducing their first ever perfume and colour free soap in 1960, shortly followed by their cleanse, tone and moisturise regime in 1978. Since then they have gone from strenght to strength and now claim to be the UK's number 1 facial skin care brand that are trusted by customers to use only the kindest of ingredients with no perfume or colourings, making them great products for people with sensitive skin. Simple have now branched out quite extensively and sell products from bath and shower gels, hair care, baby lotions and even have a mens range of products too.
***The Spotless Skin Range***
The Spotless Skin range is a fairly new product range that was first introduced in late 2010. There are five products within this range:
*Black head eliminating face scrub
*Quick fix cleansing wipes
*Triple action face wash
*Rapid action spot zapper
This range claims to give results from day one with 'effective yet gentle solutions for spot prone skin' and it aims to do this by using Zinc and Chamomile goodness along with the added bonus of not including any colours, perfumes or harsh chemicals like all Simple products.
***Quick Fix cleansing wipes***
The quick fix cleansing wipes claim to contain two spot fighting ingredients (Zinc PCA and Chamolmile which aim to absorb ecess oils and soothe skin) and one natural antibacterial ingredient (Phytosphingosine which supposedly helps fight spots and blemishes) which will apparently give you visibly clearer skin by effectively removing make up traces and impurities.
The wipes come in a bright lime green packet with the brand and product name written boldly on the front of the packaging. There are 25 wipes in the packet and they are usually retailed at around £3.05 each although I bought mine on offer in Tesco's for two for £5.
These wipes are with out a doubt the easiest thing in the world to use, you simply peel back the resealable sticker to reveal a hole in the packaging from which you remove one wipe and gently wipe it over your face. The wipes remove make up in seconds without any difficulty at all and I wear quite a lot of make up in an attempt to disguise my bad skin, it even removes my mascara quickly. After using the wipes my skin looks clean and it doesn't leave my skin feeling dry and tight but instead lovely and smooth. My skin is usually fairly oily and I have also noticed that since using these wipes it has been less so, but by the time I am half way through my day my skin has started to become oily again so the effects don't last that long. The do have a slight frangrance to them that smells a bit like a combination of Chamomile and citrus fruits but as I said it is only a slight fragrance and is by no means unpleasant and does not linger. Providing you re-seal the packet the wipes do not dry out, regarless of how long the packet last you. I have been using these wipes for around two moths now and use them everyday alongside the anti-blemish moisturiser and I have to admit that I have seen a very slight reduction in spots and my skin does appear to look brighter than before I started using them but my skin is by no means spotless and it does not stop new spots from developing. Personally I didn't see results from day one but I didn't expect to, so this wasn't a disappointment.
I think these are great wipes for general use as they are brilliant at removing make up, really gentle on your skin and you also feel really refreshed after using them. However, I don't personally think that they live up to their claim of providing spotless skin although I did see a very slight improvement in the condition of my skin, perhaps if I used every product in the range I would see more of a difference but then I feel I would be spending the majority of my day applying creams and potions to my face and quite frankly I don't have time for that and was just hopeful that these wipes and the moisturiser along would literally be a 'quick fix' but sadly it was not to be and I will have to continue the hunt for products to improve the condition of my spot prone skin. I will however, persist with the wipes for the time being as like I said they are great face wipes for general use and I would definitely recommend them for that!
***SPOTLESS SKIN RANGE***
The spotless skin range is a new range from Simple and is perfect for spot prone skin or to help banish spots and blemishes. The range contains Zinc and Chamomile goodness which helps fights spots and keep them away. The whole range is available to buy from stores such as Superdrug, Boots and some supermarkets. Their range includes the following:
* Triple Action Face Wash
* Anti-Blemish Moisturiser
* Quick Fix Cleansing Wipes
* Blackhead Eliminating Face Scrub
* Rapid Action Spot Zapper
The whole range is packaged in bright/lime green packaging so is easy to identify. You may find this range under problem skin in your local Boots or Superdrug stores.
The cleansing wipes are perfect for anyone who suffers from spot prone skin as these are part of the Spotless Skin range. The wipes stand out from others in the Simple range as they are a bright lime green colour and it states on the product that this is new. The wipes contain Zinc & Chamomile goodness which helps to fight spots & blemishes, absorb access oil and leaves skin feeling smooth. These wipes have no perfume and no colour so are perfect for even sensitive skin. These wipes are perfect to use in the morning and evening to cleanse your face and they can be used to remove make up including waterproof mascara.
I purchased these from Superdrug as I couldn't find them in Boots. How-ever they do sell these on the boots website and they will cost you approximately £3.05, these are currently on offer in boots on 2 for £5 on Simple wipes.
***USING THE WIPES***
To use the wipes simply pull back the resalable sticker on the front of the packet which will reveal a small hole, which is where you can pull a wipe through to take out. This just seals again to prevent the wipes from drying out. The wipes were white and they felt very soft. They did have a slight smell to them which I presume must be the chamomile; how-ever the smell wasn't unpleasant or over powering. I used the wipe gently over my face and neck to cleanse the skin. The wipe felt soft against my face and left my skin feeling smooth. I decided to try to tackle my eye makeup. I had some eye shadow on and a bit of mascara which wasn't waterproof so I thought this should come off pretty easily. The eye liner around my eye's came off with minimum effort. The mascara needed a few rubs to get this off, but it did come off eventually and my eyes didn't feel sore or dry from using the wipes on the delicate eye area.
I followed the spotless skin regime by using the moisturiser which is also available in this range. Although my skin was already smooth and soft from using the wipes my skin felt even better after following with the moisturiser.
I am a huge fan of simple products anyway and think this range is just fantastic. It's cheaper than the Clinique brand I hadn't long ago started using and it doesn't dry out my skin and leave it feeling tight. These products are gentle enough to use every day and are kind to even sensitive skin. The wipes themselves are easy to use and are soft against my face and removes male up easily. The resealable pack is great for keeping the wipes from drying out. These wipes are great for keeping blemishes and red spot's away. I would highly recommend them and I will be buying them again.
