I suffer from Rosacea which is a skin condition that causes my skin to be sensitive with redness and bumps. There are creams and tablets which can keep it under control but one of the side effects of rosacea which cannot be cured by creams and pills are broken veins. These happen when the veins carrying blood around the skin burst and leak to the top which is what causes the red veins to show.
I have a few broken veins on my nose and cheeks which I absolutely hate and am embarrassed by as I always associated them with old men with drink problems. I managed to get rid of most of them with IPL laser but they do come back and IPL is expensive so when I saw Skin Doctors Capillary Clear in Boots I decided to try it against my better judgement.
It costs £20.40 for a 50ml tub of cream so it isn't cheap and for the money although I didn't expect it to completely clear my broken veins and redness I did expect it to at least slightly diminish them. Unfortunately that wasn't my experience with this cream.
It contains loads of different ingredients which are supposed to combine to strengthen skin and include: Phytonadione, vitamin K, arnica, retinol, bearberry, calendula, rosehip, aloe vera and several Bioflavonoids.
You are supposed to use capillary clear morning and nights for best results and they do mention that it can take several weeks before any improvement is noticed.
The cream is incredibly rich and very thick and I found it difficult to apply. I followed the instructions to ensure my skin was pre-moistened with warm water which is to open the pores to allow the cream to be able to absorb better and reach the capillaries. Even though I followed the instructions to the T I still found that it was difficult for me to be able to get the cream to absorb. No matter how much I gently rubbed the cream in to my skin there still always felt like there was a thick layer just sitting on the top of my skin. This layer was unpleasant feeling and I hated the heavy feeling of the cream just sitting there.
With it being such a rich cream it also caused me to have several breakouts during my time using it. I continued to use the cream for several weeks even though it wasn't a pleasant experience as I wanted to give it a chance to work but unfortunately I noticed absolutely zero difference in the colour of my skin or the broken veins. I did think that the texture of my skin was quite nice and it did feel soft after using the cream but as the main reason I bought it and its big selling point is that it claims to reduce redness and broken veins it didn't do this and for that reason I can't recommend it.
