      Very helpful

A good product not full of nasties

      Skin Revivals Refining Serum

I was lucky enough to be chosen to trial this for another site I write on and I received a full sized 30ml product to use. I used it for a good few weeks but had to stop in order to do the Clinique new serum trial in store. I still have a good amount left and will continue to use it once I have finished the Clinique serum trial in Boots. That Clinique serum is the same as the one free with Marie Claire this month (Sept) if anyone want to try that.

I had not heard of this product prior to the trial so knew nothing about the company. They are sold through Beauty Naturals and Amazon and they are a company that makes products that are free from any Artificial Colour, Artificial Fragrance, Parabens Preservative, and Primary Petro-Chemicals.

They won an award from 'Natural Health Magazine' in their Beauty Awards they were a 2009 Winner for ' Best Value Skin Care Range.'

I was quite surprised to find that this 30ml product only cost £6 as usually natural products are very expensive so it is nice to see a company not going for ripping people off.

This serum has a high percentage of Organically Certified ingredients including Rosehip Oil & White Tip Tea. They have the used essential oils to scent this including Ylang Ylang which is calming to the skin and relax the mind and Rose to soothe.

They say that the product is suitable for skin that is in need of TLC, dehydrated or mature. The serum claims to refine, firm and restore tone and texture to the skin. It uses 'advanced active natural ingredients which help to target the visible signs of ageing without the use of harsh chemicals'.

The packaging is simple but quite classy in a way - think Clarins and Origins rather than Benefit or Soap and Glory. It comes in a plastic recyclable upside down ( sits on its lid) semi flatrounded bottle/tube. The container is pretty robust and easily squeezable with a tight fitting twist cap and a nice accurate precision applicator so it is very easy to dispense the serum without any risk of too much coming from the tube.

This is a white creamy lotion not a clear serum which is unusual. It is a silky, light lotion, with a very subtle scent that quickly goes after the serum sinks in. I found that I had to dab small amounts over my face and then gently massage it in. A small pea sized amount is enough for my face but if I wanted to do my neck I needed the same amount again. This serum is not a silky clear one and because it is so quickly absorbed this makes it tricky to apply, there is not really a gliding quality. It goes in like ink to blotting paper so you have to be quick.

As the serum is absorbed you can certainly feel the real tightening effect, a bit like e toner. I like the fact that I can feel it working but what I am less keen on is the slightly clammy feeling when I touch my face.

It doesn't feel greasy, nor does it make my skin feel or look greasy even after some time. The idea is that you apply this then apply your day or night moisturiser. At night I did apply my night cream after this but in the day I applied this then left it for at least half an hour before applying my moisturiser with SPF to give the serum a chance to sink in. I didn't feel at any time that this serum blocked my pores but it was a lot creamier than I was expecting fr a serum.

I used this both day and night all over my face and neck before moisturising as I said I waited a while in the morning before applying my moisturiser. As they suggested I concentrated on under my eyes and around the mouth as that is where my fine lines are. I also have two deeper smile lines down my cheeks and those do get some attention as well as my forehead furrows.

I did find that this serum works almost immediately, it reminded me of the Skin Doctors 'Instant Face Lift' in its effect. I have reviewed this some time back. Almost straight away I felt the tightening, my lines seemed less obvious and my skin felt tighter and firmer and also looked a bit 'younger' and healthier.

I loved the fact that this product is free from: Artificial Colour, Artificial Fragrance, Parabens Preservative and Primary Petro-Chemicals. It is quite easy to find products like this but so often you have to pay silly prices for this. I commend this company for creating this and not charging a high price as well as the fact the stuff works.

Yes I am both impressed with the effect the rosehip and white tea have on tightening my skin. I am less keen on how my skin feel s to touch as it feels kind of clammy

I love all the ethic and paraben free things about this and would recommend it for its tightening and I do still apply a gentle moisturiser after putting this on as I do with other serums and then my face feels less clammy.
Thanks for reading, I hope this has been useful. This review may be posted on other sites under my same user name.
