Skin Therapy 3 in 1 Facial Wipes Fragrance Free
Advantages: Remove make up well. Refreshing. Fragrance free.
Disadvantages: Can feel a bit rough. Not enough of them in a pack.
A few weeks ago I was shopping in the high street store Wilkinsons when I saw these Skin Therapy 3 in 1 fragrance free facial wipes on the shelf. I thought they were very cheap at only 57p for a pack of 25 so I bought them to try. I occasionally buy packs of facial wipes and I'm not loyal to any particular brand. I use facial wipes for refreshing my face at home or on the go and also for helping to remove make-up and dirt from my skin. What also interested me in these wipes was that on the pack it states that these wipes "cleanse, tone and moisturise all in one go" which sounded wonderful.
The wipes come in a soft plastic packet and there is 25 wipes in the pack. The pack actually looks like it would contain more wipes as it's quite chunky. I think that 25 wipes is a small sized pack and would ideally like a bigger pack. The wrapper is fitted with an excellent opening pouch on the top. There is a square plastic lid fitted into the plastic wrapper and underneath you can access the wipes. The lid snaps back into place after use and keeps the hole into the wrapper concealed so the wipes stay nice and wet and fresh. This type of packaging design is far superior to the standard sticky label opening.
The wrapper is printed with essential information including full ingredients, directions for use, contact information for Wilkinsons and warnings about how to dispose of the wipes after use (they can not be flushed down a lavatory). Wilkinsons state that these wipes are "new and improved" and say that the thickness of the wipes has been increased. The impressive re-sealable lid is also a new idea. Wilkinsons say that these wipes can remove make-up, tone the skin and provide a moisturising effect and claim that even sensitive skins will appreciate the wipes. The wipes are confirmed as being "ph balanced" as well as "allergen free" and they are also dermatologically tested.
It's easy to remove one wipe from the pack without any more coming out with it. One wipe measures approximately 20 centimetres by 19 centimetres. They are thick and have a pattern of dots on them. This grooved texture helps to hold the liquid in the wipes and also aids removal of dirt and oils from the skin. Strangely, a wipe feels dry until you press it to your face. They aren't overly soaked with liquid but when you rub one on your face it feels cool and there is just the right level of moisture to make you feel like you are cleansing your face well. The liquid in the wipe feels watery and is non sticky. There is absolutely no fragrance to these wipes.
The wipes remove make-up effectively although on more sensitive areas like my eyelids I feel like the material of the wipe is perhaps not as soft as other facial wipes I've used. I do like the coldness and refreshing feeling the first application of the wipe gives me. After using a wipe my skin feels super clean and also looks very healthy and in a good condition. I would say that the way my skin feels after using a wipe is a bit like it does after I've used a regular toner lotion. My skin is a little too tight to say that it feels richly moisturised although it does feel soft to the touch as though there is a coating of talc on my skin. The resulting sense is that my skin feels okay in the short term but I would rather not use these wipes prior to sleeping or before a long stretch where I can't use a moisturiser cream. I would say that the moisturising qualities of these wipes was about average compared to other wipes I've used.
Overall I'm reasonably happy with these wipes. They clean skin well and I'm confident that they take away all traces of make-up and dirt from the skin. Since using them my skin has been clear of pimples and I've had no bad reactions to them. I would like the wipe to be slightly softer as you can feel a bit of roughness on the surface when using them on thinner skin areas. I am happy with the way my skin looks after using the wipes and feel confident about facing other people after using one of these wipes! I would say my skin has a 'glow' after using a wipe. The wipes don't leave my skin feeling richly moisturised but to be honest across all of the brands of facial wipes I've used none of them can really provide moisturising at a deep level so these Skin Therapy Wipes are no better or worse than other brands I've experienced.
I would buy these again as they are convenient and they provide a quick service when I'm being lazy and want to whip off my make-up face. They are also great for boosting the appearance of a tired face when travelling and they make me feel alert and refreshed again.
They are available at Wilkinson stores in the UK.
Summary: Good for cleansing and toning.
