“ Brand: Boots / Scrub / Type: Facial Scrub / Subcategory: Face Treatment / Scrub / Suitable for: Face / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Exfoliates, „
I have been using Boots Skinclear Deep pore facial treatment scrub in conjunction with their gel spot treatment (reviewed separately) and I have found there to be a significant reduction in spots over the last couple of weeks. I was a little disappointed with the fast acting spot gel in itself but I do find that I am seeing better results whilst using the scrub regularly.
The scrub comes in a 150ml recyclable plastic tube with a flip top lid at the bottom with a fairly large hole to dispense the scrub through. The scrub itself is a very pale blue colour speckled with dark blue specks in that obviously give the exfoliating element of this scrub.
It has a fairly pleasant smell which is a plus as often products that are meant for problem skin can not always smell that nice.
This is said to contain a unique formulation with ingredients that have been scientifically proven to give visible results by exfoliating and clearing the skin.
This scrub is designed to penetrate the pores deeply and to lift away any impurities that could otherwise lead to skin breakouts.
This is gentle enough to use everyday and should be applied to dampened skin and gently massaged onto the skin in a circular motion taking care to avoid the delicate skin around the eye area. This then needs to be rinsed thoroughly.
This product is said to start working immediately and apart from helping to clear spots is also marketed as helping to reduce redness.
I really like this product. The grains, although small, can be felt on the skin so you really do feel that some exfoliating is going on but at the same time make sure you maasage gently as instructed as you want to lift off impurities without scratching or damaging your skin unduly.
The product is of a consistency that makes it easy to spread over the skin and I massage in small circles for a good minute to really allow the active ingredients to get to work on my skin which (although fast approaching 40) is still inclined to breakout in spots every now and again and lately I seem to permanently have at least one or two spots or little patches of tiny red spots.
The product is very easy to rinse off and does not leave any residue and what I particuarly like is that my skin did not feel tight or dry at all (even though it contains a type of alcohol) and felt noticeably softer even before moisturising afterwards and it did also look clearer. Of course the pesky spots were still there but the unblemished part of my face looked cleaner and clearer and after using this product now for a couple of weeks, the blemishes and spots do seem to be reducing in redness and I haven't had any more breakouts so am just waiting to clear completely the existing ones.
As I mentioned in my other review, obviously diet and drinking lots of water help to keep a clearer complexion and I am trying to improve on that front but a little help from these sort of products just seem to speed up the process a little more!
Please note that it does say not to apply to damaged or irritated skin but obviously spots can make your skin look or feel irritated but if your skin is highly sensitive or has any open wounds this might not be the best product to use.
I would recommend this product if you do have problem skin but you need to use it regularly, every day if possible, to see the full effect on your skin.
I bought 2 items for £6.50 in this range from Boots and this item usually retails by itself at £4.07.
