I love my cosmetics as you might guess from reading my reviews and I do post on a beauty forum quite often, I love the site and people are often posting brilliant new or cheap products and links to samples of things to trial. I have suffered with spots since I was in my very early teens and although they are improving I do still keep trying things out in the hope to find one that will get rid of them. Last year someone posted a link to a new product called Skinetica that they had been told was really good for spots, the link was actually for a free sample however by the time I got there they were all out. I thought about it for a few days and decided to purchase one as I found a store selling them on Amazon for a reasonable price and I had some vouchers.
THE PRODUCT ....
Skinetica claims that it is an anti-blemish liquid that soothes, calms and clears skin. Among it's claims it says that it is fast acting skin clearing, kind to skin, Dermatologically tested, no side effects, non greasy, no harsh chemicals, non toxic and non staining.
The product is just a clear liquid that looks like water but smells like alcohol when you open the bottle.
To use you simply apply the liquid to a cotton pad and sweep over clean skin every 12 hours.
THE PACKING ....
The liquid comes in a small plastic white bottle, this has a green lid. The front of the bottle has a deep blue strip down the left hand side and is white on the right, over the blue the text is white and over the white section the text is green. There are some white circles on the blue strip, not sure what they are meant to represent.
DID IT WORK? ....
A resounding no! I used this for about 4 months before I gave in, it did nothing at all for me. While I admit it did not give me more greasy skin nor dry my skin it did nothing for my spots either, they were neither better nor worse. Now I have only been on here since April but I have started actually investigating what is in my products even more than I did before joining and a small investigation into the ingredients has left me somewhat puzzled.
Purified water, ethyl alcohol, fragrance, quaternary ammonium chloride.
So not really sure what in the ingredients is supposed to be the spot treatment but I am feeling like I bought a bottle of scented water and rubbing alcohol? Well it would keep my skin clean maybe they think that should help stop spots? Who knows but this has done nothing for me.
This can be purchased £9.99 for a 80ml bottle inc postage from www.skinetica.co.uk
I really can not say I have seen this product do anything at all, maybe it has worked for some people but it has done nothing at all for me. Would I suggest this? Certainly not as a spot clearing treatment no! I would give this 1 star out of 5 ... sorry Skinetica!
This is a review of a new skin care treatment called Skinetica, an anti blemish solution for problem areas or skin so you can easily treat acne or the occasional break out. I received my bottle in a beauty box and had had a break out under my nose so began to use it immediately.
What is it?
The Skinetica sooths, calms and clears acne spots and pimples and blemishes. It is fast acting and kind to skin with no side effects. The ingredients are purified water, ethyl alcohol, fragrance, and quaternary ammonium chloride.
The treatment is packaged in a white plastic bottle with a green lid and has a flip top lid to dispense the product on to cotton wool.
I used a cotton bud to apply the clear liquid straight to the affected area under my nose. Within a minute the area was dry and there was no sign of the treatment on my skin. The bottle advises removing all makeup and products from the skin before use. I later used it as a toner on cotton wool over my nose area which is where I have a few open pores I wanted to treat. I can't detect much fragrance in the product but it smells OK to me.
I really think this is a kind treatment for skin and it seemed to clear up the spots quickly without causing any extra redness or stinging to the area. I liked the consistency of the skinetica and liked how quickly it dried and felt like it was working straight away.
Price and availability
100ml is priced £9.99 on the Skinetica website. http://www.skinetica.co.uk/
Overall this worked for me although I don't have particularly troublesome skin. I get the occasional spot but nothing too bad really so I am not usually in the market for spot treatments.
I like that this is clear and so can be used by girls and boys without anyone needing to know you are using a spot treatment. I remember the misery of having to go to school with a big spot and thinking that everyone is looking at you, so as a parent when my children are older, I will always keep in something they can use on their skin so at least they feel like they are trying to help a break out go away. I think this is a good solution in that it feels light and kind on the skin and seems a pretty natural way to fight spots. The price is also quite good compared to other spot treatments and even a small bottle will last a long time so can be quite economical.
