Advantages: Leaves the skin soft and removes signs of tired skin
Disadvantages: It's too dewy for those with oily skin
My skin can often look quite dull and unhealthy because of a busy lifestyle and an often poor diet. I need product to bring a bit of life into my skin and when Bright Here Bright Now by Soap & Glory caught my eye, it sounded like just what I needed.
What does the product do?
The product is described as being an instant radiance energy balm. It claims that it instantly give you luminous skin that glows with health and that it will moisturise the skin with delicious natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera and Apricot Kernal Oil. It also promises to tone the skin using a special technology leaving you looking more youthful and less tired.
How do you use the product?
The product needs to be applied to clean skin as often as required. You are directed to gently massage a generous amount of the balm in the face and neck in the same way in which you would use a moisturiser. It can be used alone or actually mixed in with your foundation in order to create a brightening product of your own.
Packaging and Price
The product is packaged in the same quirky, retro way that you would expect from Soap & Glory. It comes in a silver metallic tube which has some pretty pink and red writing on it which gives a little bit more information about the product itself. The product has a bright red lid on which it can stand, at least until it starts getting a bit empty. The product will cost you around £11 for 50ml of the balm and it can be bought from Boots or from a few online websites.
Aroma and Consistency
The Product has a strong smell which you would expect from a Soap & Glory product. It smells like mints mixed with oranges and it's not offensive but I'd rather have my facial products fragrance free. It has a pale beige colour and quite a thick consistency when it is first dispensed from the tube which is about the same as a moisturiser.
Performance
The product goes onto the skin just like a moisturiser. Its consistency changes as it is applied to the skin and it becomes slightly more watery meaning that it is easily absorbed. You are supposed to use this instead of a moisturiser and this is hydrating enough if you have oily skin but it might not be enough if you're skin is a little dry.
The product feels a bit greasy on my skin from the word go and it gives the skin dewy glow that isn't shimmery or glittery. I wouldn't go without make up but it would make your skin look brighter for those who were braver. I tried mixing the product in with my make up but it changed the consistency of my foundation in a way that I didn't like. Nevertheless, the balm does show through your foundation and make your skin dewy but my skin looks like an oil slick at the best of times so this tend to enhance the oiliness of my skin.
It does make the skin soft and silky, removing all feeling of dryness and tightness. Your skin certainly won't look dull while you are wearing this product. It hasn't caused any spots or irritations on my sensitive skin. I wouldn't agree that my skin looked or felt more toned with this product as was promised but it definitely makes you glow.
Conclusion
This product is no good for those with oily skin. I should have realised this as the last thing I want my skin to do it look any more dewy. If your skin is drier and you team it with a good moisturiser, then I think you'd get on well with this product. It does make the skin feel softness and banishes all signs of dullness and tiredness.
Summary: A skin brightening balm that may be too heavy for oily skin
