Advantages: Refines pores, brightens complexion, smooths skin, smells gorgeous, indispensible....
I'm just going to start off by saying I think Soap & Glory generally is a fabulous brand that delivers brilliant results at an affordable price. Someone bought me this present as a gift and so I checked the prices online and this product tends to retail at £6.
Like most Soap & Glory products the packaging is fabulous; they seem to be very serious about the use of packaging in their marketing campaign- and it really works, these pots and bottles are so damn beautiful I enjoy having them on my shelf. 'Clean Mary' is written in big fancy letters, there's an illustration of a beautiful retro woman in black and white which I love, and it really gives the product a classic-elegant touch, projecting a timeless feel. There's also a list of the main features this cleansing milk has to offer: Androba oil and acid-free exfoliators.
It also states that this is suitable for all skin types, I can verify that as I have oily/combination skin, and it works effectively on my t-zone as well as the rest of my face.
The directions say you should massage it in circles, giving your 'pores priority', which I tend to do anyway; sometimes I double cleanse my t-zone, but I find with this cleansing milk that really isn't necessary, as all of my skin feels squeaky clean after use it.
It comes in a nice pump format, which is easy to control, so you don't end up wasting too much of the product. A little seems to go along way with this one too, with one bottle lasting me almost a year and a half. That's value!
The claims & my own experiences:
This product claims to exfoliate and keep skin 'bright' and 'smooth'; it does that only too well. When I first used this I was taken aback at how gorgeous my skin looked after I'd towel tried it, it looked like someone had given me a new complexion: my skin was smooth, soft and glowing.
The fragrance of this cleansing milk is also gorgeous, I can't put my finger on what it is, it's sort of a medicated sort of smell - but in a really good way. It smells cleansing, not entirely ironic either...
As it has exfoliating properties I recommend you use some sort of spf on your skin during the day time, especially important if you use this in the morning. I don't believe exfoliation should ever be employed without the use of sun protection.
There aren't any direct recommendations as to how frequently this product should be used which is probably my only criticism, it says you should use this whenever you're feeling 'a bit dirty', which is far too ambiguous for my liking. There's a tip on the back telling you to use exfoliators 'within reason,' which I'm sure most of us already know. I'm thinking that because they inserted that comment in there they mean this cleansing milk may be too harsh to use every day (as it contains exfoliators), so I only use it every three days. I always steer clear of over exfoliation personally, as I think it can be extremely damaging to the skin.
This product seems to be very good at preventing breakouts and helping to refine pores on my skin, which is a massive plus as even though I'm moving out of my teens -my t-zone can sometimes be a problem area.
As someone who loves cleansing milks, I can definitely say that this is one of the best I've used. It's simply magnificent value- you get 180ml for £6, and it's even better than some of the high end brands I've tried. There aren't many products that are staples in my beauty regime as I tend to seek new products constantly - but this has a place. I recommend it. : )
Summary: Value and glamour go hand in hand with this one.
