About three months ago I was taking a walk to Tesco to get my weekly shopping in, the sun was shining and I was feeling rather uplifted for one reason or another. It was one of those rare days where I felt 'pretty'. My hair went as I wanted it and I finally had the chance to wear that new summer dress I bought some time ago that the weather wouldn't allow me to enjoy. Happy as I was walking down the road I couldn't help but suddenly feel overly self-conscious when one charming individual decided to heckle me out of his car with the line 'get a tan on them legs love'. Normally I'd have laughed this off, pointed out it was 'those legs' and insisted I was nobody's 'love' - especially not his. On this day however, I looked down at my pasty white legs and thought 'I need to do something about this'.
I never have been and never will be one for fake tan. Granted, done correctly it looks perfectly acceptable but there is just too much that can and more than likely will go wrong so I won't do it. I have no chance of catching any sort of natural tan as I plaster my legs in high factor sun lotion whenever they're on show to protect my tattoos and I'm far too claustrophobic to ever set foot on or in a sun bed. Regardless I still needed something to make my legs look a little better, less pasty.
On my way back from Tesco I popped into Boots to find a solution and what a wonderful solution it turned out to be! Soap & Glory's Glow Lotion promised to be a 'drop dead gorgeous highlighting glimmer lotion for the body' which, among other things, could be used 'as a stand in for stockings when you find yourself short of a little shin shine'. Rather than make my legs orange, why not just make them sparkle? This definitely seemed like it could be the answer I was looking for.
I bought my 150ml bottle of Glow Lotion from Boots for the very reasonable price of £5.50. I didn't hesitate to pay this price mainly because I was desperate for something to make my legs more attractive but also because I've used many Soap & Glory products in the past and found them to be of high quality and I was sure this would deliver just as everything else I had tried had done.
Glow Lotion comes in a rectangular cardboard box which is pink in colour and shows a retro style picture of a glamorous looking woman in black and white on the front. The box states this is a 'celebrity beauty secret' and tells us to 'apply tactically to emphasize your best assets'. Naturally, the Soap & Glory logo along with product name and description is also present on this box.
Opening the box reveals the clear plastic bottle containing this lotion. 'Glow Lotion' is written in black font on the front along with some silver stars and it looks rather attractive. The clear bottle allows you to see the actual glow lotion, a fleshy pink coloured and slightly sparkly liquid. The lotion is dispensed via a pump action nozzle at the top of the bottle which is protected by a clear plastic lid.
To use Glow Lotion you simply need to press down this pump to dispense onto the skin and then rub the lotion in, easy as that. One press on the nozzle dispenses a small pea sized blob of lotion and I place six of these in a line down my leg, two on my thigh, one on my knee and three down my shin. I then just rub this in which takes about a minute and I'm ready to do the other leg.
The lotion rubs in instantly and lightly moisturises my skin. The moisturising effects of this are not good enough for me to replace body lotions and butters with it altogether but it gives a nice softening effect before I go out which is an added bonus considering its main purpose is to add shine. It absorbs into my skin easily and never feels heavy or greasy, apart from the nice shimmer this leaves on my skin you really wouldn't be able to tell I have it on at all. It hasn't reacted badly with my sensitive skin or had any negative side effects so I've no complaints there.
The results of this are fantastic, exactly the answer I was looking for! Firstly, it doesn't change the colour of my skin so much but more evens it out. My knees look less red and worn out and scarring on my shin is practically non-existent to anyone who doesn't know it is there. The skin looks brighter and healthier and natural sun light shows a subtle shimmer which looks lovely. The effects are still rather natural looking though, they don't scream 'I'm wearing product' more 'I have healthy, bright skin' and it just makes me feel a whole lot more confident and attractive.
The results last until I go into the bath or shower too so no need to reapply during the day! This is not only more convenient but means the product lasts longer too. I've taken to applying this across my shoulders and collar bone area when these parts of my body are show as it really highlights these areas and gives a much more elegant look.
Soap & Glory's Glow Lotion is an absolutely amazing way of giving pale and/or dull skin a sexy looking uplift and I really cannot rate it highly enough. All of my leg troubles instantly disappeared when I bought this bottle and I love it! I just need to find that heckler to see what he thinks now..
Glow Lotion is a fragranced shimmer lotion which has been created by Soap & Glory. It has the dual purpose of performing as an all over body moisturiser as well as adding a defining and highlighting delicious fragranced shimmer to the skin.
How do you use the product?
The product can be used to hydrate the skin all over your body although you may find the effects to shimmery for this. I have found that the best way to use the product is to use it as a highlighter because it reflects the light so beautifully. You can apply it to your collar bone, shoulders to add definition or to your shins to add a slimming effect. I leave the moisturising effects to my Righteous Butter, also by Soap & Glory.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a lovely clear bottle through which you can see the peachy golden liquid inside. There is some information about the product on the bottle and some pretty stars. The product is released by using a pump dispenser which is also clear. You need to pump the dispenser a few times on the first use to get the product working but after that one pump at a time releases enough lotion to get to work. The product has a clear lid which protects it.
The Glow Lotion is cheaper than some of Soap & Glory's other lotions and it will cost you around £5 for 150ml of the product. It can be bought from Boots or from a variety of online websites. Boots are currently running a 3 for 2 offer at the moment so you could grab yourself a bargain.
One thing worth mentioning about this product is its completely and totally delicious fragrance. If you use the Righteous Butter or anything with the Original Pink aroma by Soap & Glory, then you will already know how addictively gorgeous the fragrance is. The scent is refreshing and summery and it has been created using Strawberries, Peaches, Oranges, Roses, Gardenia Blooms and Jasmine. People always comment on the fragrance whenever I am wearing a product which contains it and I haven't met anyone yet who doesn't like it.
The lotion itself has a peachy golden colour to it and it has a moderately thick consistency. When applied to the skin, some seems to be absorbed while the remainder rests on the skin in order to give off that lovely glow. It feels comfortable on the skin and doesn't make you feel sticky or unclean. You're skin does feel smooth and hydrated after application so the moisturising quality is good, although I always apply my Righteous Butter first just in case!
When I first purchased the Glow Lotion, I must admit that I thought it was a tanning lotion but that isn't its purpose at all. It doesn't really add colour to the body. Instead it just adds a gorgeous sheen and an ever so subtle shimmer. I am just about the biggest glitter fan going so I would be happy with a full on sparkle effect but this shimmer is so delicate that even the glitter phobic amongst us would find it acceptable and pretty.
You really don't need to use much of this product to get the desired results and a little really does go a long way. If you overuse the product, people will need sunglasses too look at you as the sheen will become a bit overbearing and it will stop being natural. I think the product would suit all skin colours as it adds a sheen rather than a colour. I'm very pale but it looks fine on my skin.
For my birthday this year many of my family and friends all had the fabulous idea of treating me to some soap and glory goodies! I received masses of the range and one of the items I received was the glow lotion.
The product comes packaged in the pretty standard soap and glory way. The thin cardboard box is pink and features a retro looking picture of a lady who looks pretty happy with herself I have to say! The soap and glory logo is prominent on the box and we are told that this glow lotion is a "drop dead gorgeous highlighting glimmer lotion for the body" Now personally I just love the way that soap and glory packaging looks because it looks girly and somewhat funky too with its quirky little slogans and things. I like having the products on show and also like giving the products as gifts too!
Inside the cardboard box there is a 150ml bottle of the glow lotion. It is clear plastic with black swirly writing on and some silver stars and I think it looks really nice. Through the bottle you can see the glow lotion which is a pinky colour in which you can see lots of golden shimmer. The bottle features a pump top which is really handy for products such as these I think and also more hygienic too to be honest. You are advised that the lotion can be used as an all over body moisturiser, on the neck and shoulders to create a fragrant shimmer or on your legs as a stand in for stockings! You are also told that you can use the lotion to tactically emphasise your best assets...ie draw attention to your cleavage should you wish to.
Pumping the lotion on to your hand is really simple and I find it pumps out quite quickly but you don't get left with too much per pump. I prefer this as I can always pump more on to my hands if needs be rather than be left with too much and end up wasting it! The smell of the glow lotion is absolutely gorgeous. It is certainly the signature scent used in the original pink range such as the body butter and I just love it-it is sweet, feminine and really makes me feel nice when I wear it. The lotion itself is very thin really and so it rubs in to the skin well with minimal effort. My skin is left feeling quite soft and smelling lovely after application. However, as far as the "glow" goes, well there isn't much at all really which surprised me. In certain lights you will get the faintest of shimmer but I expected it to be a bit more in your face. To be honest I don't mind that I don't sparkle much after using this product because soap and glory do a glistening spray which is full of shimmer so if I want to sparkle I can use that. I do love this lotion regardless because of how easy it is to use and how quickly the lotion is absorbed in to the skin as well.
The lotion can be picked up from boots for £5.11 which is a reasonable price to pay as far as I am concerned as the product does last well because a little goes a long way. I have had my bottle since April and have used it all over my body a good few times and there is almost a full bottle still. Boots often have 3 for 2 promotions across the soap and glory range so it is worth looking out for those. I would certainly recommend the product as a nice moisturising lotion which smells lovely, but if you are buying it purely for the glow you will be disappointed.
thank you for reading my review!
I love Soap and Glory products, with the fifties style packaging and gorgeous scents, so I was delighted to recieve a gift bag from my mum containing a big selection of Soap and Glory products . Most of them I started using right away, but it actually took me a while to get around to using this - for reasons that will be explained later in the review.
Glow Lotion is described on the transparent pump action bottle as a 'gorgeous glimmer lotion for the body'. On the rear of the bottle are some simple instructions for use, advising to use this on your neck and shoulders as a fragrant shimmer, or on your legs as a stand in for stockings. The bottle has a few gold stars on it as design accents, and you can see the shimmering light toffee coloured lotion through the bottle
I was actually pretty reluctant to use this at first. I have naturally quite pale skin - so pale in fact that I can't really wear foundation type make up, as it makes me look ridiculous, and gives obvious tide marks no matter how much effort I put into making sure it is evenly applied. Looking at this lotion through the bottle, I pretty much dismissed it as looking similar to foundation, and with the skin on the rest of my body being even paler than my face, this just got pushed to the back of my make up drawer and forgotten about, until a recent night out .
On this particular night out, I decided to wear a gorgeous little black dress I'd picked up in a sale - a dress with a rather low scoop neckline. Whilst the dress made my bosom look enourmous, it also highlighted the fact that my boobs are milky white, leaving me unintentionally sporting the 'goth' look.
I decided that perhaps a little distraction was in order, and it was while rooting about for some glitter to apply to my chesty bumps that I found this again, and decided to give it a go. Pumping a small amoung of this into my palm, I spread it over my decolletage, fully expecting to have to wash it straight off again. I was surprised by the results .
Despite looking quite dark in the bottle, this actually does very little to change the colour of my skin. In fact, I really don't think it made any difference in colour at all. What it did do is leave a very subtle shimmer effect on my skin, a healthy glowing look, much more subtle than glitter. It absorbed easily, and did not leave my skin with any greasy feel or appearance.
It also smelled fantastic - fresh, fruity, with scents of vanilla and blackcurrant. In fact, it smelt so good that I soon set about smearing it on every bit of exposed skin I could find. Of course, scent has always been the biggest selling point of the Soap and Glory range for me, so I was really happy that this product delivered such a great smell - and a smell that easily lasted the duration of my night out .
I also found that on areas of particularly dry skin, this lotion moisturised them slightly, and made them look much healthier.
Despite my initial doubts about this product, I now wear this every time I have a night out . So, it's lucky then that a little goes a long way . I'm still on my original 140ml bottle, and there is still half of it left, despite me having had at least 7 or 8 nights out, with this smeared all over my legs, arms, shoulders, boobs, and neck.
At £5 a bottle, (available from Boots and Harvey Nichols only) I think this is excellent value, especially as a little does go a long way, and there is no need to apply scent over the top .
5 stars - Fantastic!
Soap and Glory was founded by Bliss founder Marcia. The company promotes itself as being retro with quirky tag lines and packaging. The Soap and Glory ladies range is extensive and continues to grow as the products become more popular. They specialise in treats for your skin, face and hair and also makeup and even a fragrance!
Glow Lotion is described as being "a drop dead gorgeous highlighting glimmer lotion for the body".
This lotion is designed to highlight your best assets by smoothing it on as a moisturiser. It is recommended that you use this on your shoulder and neck area for a touch of golden glow. Another recommendation is to apply to the legs for a stocking effect.
Not only does the lotion give you a glow, it is also fragrant so this is ideal for wearing as a normal body lotion and can be layered up. It has the S&G signature scent.
Glow Lotion comes in a small, clear plastic bottle. The lotion is dispensed throught a pump which is covered with a clear lid to avoid any leaks. The information on the bottle is basic and well laid out. The black writing includes the product name surrounded by silver stars, a bit about the lotion, how to use and the contact details for the company.
The bottle is then placed in a pink and white cardboard box which keeps with the retro S&G design. The front shows a retro lady and offers us the famous S&G logo alongside the product name. The back ofthe box is the product blurb, ingredients ands contact details for S&G.
The bottle and the box can be recycled after use.
To use this lotion, apply to the preferred area as you would do a normal body lotion or moisturiser. Simply pump a blob out onto your hand and smooth over the area. Simples!!
**Availability and Price**
S&G Glow Lotion comes in a standard 125ml size. It is available from Boots, online at www.boots.com and from Harvey Nichols priced at £5.00
I am sure you are all aware by now that I have a strong passion for Soap and Glory products. I am rarely disappointed by them and although they may be a tad more expensive than other brands, I believe them to be worth it! It is even better when you can pick their products up on offer at 3 for 2 or 1/3 off!
Glow Lotion was a product which I always by passed as I thought it was some sort of tanning lotion! After reading a review on here (thanks catsholiday!), I was intrigued and suprised that it was a shimmer lotion and not a self tanner. With that said, I decided I would love to try it for myself. Being short of money at the moment, I couldn't justify spending £5.00 on myself so I popped onto to ebay (you gotta love it!) as I had some ebay plus points saved up. Priced at 99p with £2.49 postage..I snapped it up straightaway and last week, it was delivered!
The box, I feel isn't really needed and although it can be recycled, S&G would have been able to sell the bottle on its own. The bottle itself is idea. It is clear so I can check how much I have left and the pump dispenser is my preference as I make too much mess with bottles! The lotion inside is an irridescent pink with a hint of bronze shade and I became worried that this might be too dark for me. I have medium shaded skin.
Putting my worries aside, I decided to try this out and have used it many times since. Normally I would use this for going out somewhere fancy but pennies are tight at the moment so I have been using it every few days for general out and about to the shops!
Once I pump the dispenser once, it releases a small blob of lotion. I decided to use this a normal body moisturiser and would therefore by applying to my arms, neck, legs and tummy area. The small blob was more than enough to cover one full arm.
It is very cool on contact with the skin and a little goes a long way as it is quite runny in consistency. It smoothes out wonderfully and I am delighted by the scent. The scent is very much S&G and personally, this is one of my favourite scents. It reminds me of the Girligo Moisturising Mist which is my favourite. It has a gorgeous fruitiness which if this is the same as Girligo, is a passionate blend of strawberries, peach and mandarin. It isn't overly fruity though as it is calmed down by a sweet tone and something slightly different that I cannot quite put my finger on.
The main purpose of the lotion is for it to give my skin a glow! I can confirm that the lotion does give my skin a healthy and slightly shimmery look but it isn't overdone and is quite understated. I personally prefer this as I don't like looking too shimmery so this works well. My neck area took to the lotion the best as this is the smoothest area. The shimmer was delicate here and the scent was detectable and commented upon. My arms are quite rough with a skin condition and although softened out, the shimmer was not quite as evident here. I did use it on my legs after shaving and there was a sublte glow but I don't bare my legs to the public so no stocking effect was required!
The lotion itself provides me with soft skin and my skin really does feel fresh and hydrated. I have sensitive skin and experienced no reaction to the lotion. My skin remained soft for most of the day so I recommend applying this lotion in the morning for lasting effects. The scent was also detectable several hours after I first applied and the shimmer remained too. I personally top up with a light spritz of Girligo further on in the day as I feel perfume would be too overpowering and wouldn't neccessarily blend with the lotion very well.
At £5.00 on full price, this lotion may seem rather expensive but it is so totally worth it. A little goes a very long way and it has many uses being a lotion, a shimmering lotion and a scent so excellent on all counts and thumbs up from me!
Thanks for reading :)
Soap and Glory Glow Lotion
Where can I buy Soap and Glory stuff?
Anyone who has read my reviews before will recognise that I do quite like the Soap and Glory range of products. The products in the range that I like are not the make-up but rather bath and pamper products they have a more fun outlook rather than the usual spa type hyped up snobby products. On the whole they are reasonably priced, not 'bargains' but not 'luxury only'. I think this product is about £5 for 150 ml at Boots but they are often on sale and I paid £3.33 just the other day and looking on line at Boots.com they are on special there now. Their products are sold at Boots and Boots.com and are also sold at Harvey Nichols and Beyond Beauty in the UK.
What is so special about Soap and Glory?
The products usually have names which are a play on words and they obviously have a lot of fun making theses up. On the website at the moment you can suggest a pun for one of their products. One of their slogans is "At 'Soap and Glory ' we believe that it's always in one's best interests to come clean"
Another is " At 'Soap and Glory' we believe it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg just to moisturise one (or the other or both)"
What is Glow Lotion?
This is a body lotion with a shimmer is the best way I can describe it. It does NOT give you a tan false or otherwise but it does give your skin a lovely shimmery shine and makes it look glowingly healthy. If you have a tan it brings out the colour. Although the lotion is the colour of café au lait I don't think any colour was added to my skin but I do have quite a tan already. I did like the effect of the glow on my arms and if you had a strappy top then it would look great on your shoulders too. They suggest putting it on your legs in summer when not wearing tights to give a nice sheen.
The product packaging
The product comes in a cardboard box then a plastic bottle with a push down applicator squirty top. I'm not convinced the product needs a box but it does make it look nice and ensure that the product has not been tested in the shop by other customers. It also gives them a great canvas for all their fun quips and labels that are part of the Soap and Glory image.
The box is the usual pink and now yellow sided box. One the front we see a black and white photo of a 50s style lady's face and shoulder's looking very gorgeous. The name of the product is above the photo along with the words "A drop dead gorgeous highlighting glimmer lotion for the body" and then a yellow label with the handy tip " HOT TIP! Apply tactically to emphasize your best assets".
On both the side panels the first quote is repeated and a further yellow sign gives a word of warning " ATTENTION ATTRACTING FRAGRANCE INSIDE". The back has the ingredients and the recycle sign for the box as well as further instructions on how to use the product.
Inside the box is a plastic bottle with café au lait lotion clearly visible through the clear bottle. The name and the "Drop dead gorgeous" quote are on the front. A sticker with the same instructions as on the box is labeled "Glow Maintenance". These little touches always make me smile and I'm sure they must have such fun making up these little quips to put with the products.
Okay so what is this lotion really like?
As I said it is a café au lait colour and you press down the plunger to get the lotion out of the bottle. It is not too thick, in fact it is quite runny so I squeeze only a little onto my hand then that small squirt does my arm as it spreads easily. It smells divine, fresh, light, sweet and creamy. I put some on my arm about 4 hours ago and I can still smell a very light fresh smell on them.
It is not overpowering but I think you would not want to wear a perfume as well or maybe not one that clashed with this smell. It would have to be a fresh vanillary light scent to compliment rather than kill or fight with this. During the day this would act as a light refreshing scent on your body and you wouldn't need to wear anything until maybe later in the day unless it was very hot. I think I would use a Soap and Glory body spray if I thought I needed freshening and they would blend nicely together.
I thought this was a lovely smelling lotion that gave me a nice shimmer on my arms. I think it is a product that I would only buy in summer as I wouldn't have any bits of my body exposed to the world that needs a shimmer in winter or when it is cooler. I also think it looks more effective on skin with a bit of colour. It would look less fetching on pasty white skin I feel. I shall enjoy using this lotion in the next few months and the thought that it smells lovely as well as giving me a bit of highlighting is a real plus.
Thank you for reading this and hope it will be of some interest or help to some of you and maybe tempted others into trying it.

I was bought Soap and Glory Glow Lotion as a present and I'm really impressed with it.
It comes packaged in a box styled in the usual retro kitsch way - pink and cream with a black and white mock 50s photo on the front.
The bottle inside is 150ml and about 6 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter, with a pump dispenser lid. The bottle is made from clear plastic with silver stars on it, allowing you to see the glow lotion on the inside.
The packaging claims that the lotion is a drop dead gorgeous highlightig glimmer lotion.
The lotion is a very pale shimmery peach colour and when dispensed it seems worryingly thick - I was worried that I was going to look like I'd been painted!
However, as soon as you rub the lotion in it disappears flawlessly into your skin. I'm china doll pale, but there were no tell tale streaks or lines on my skin it just blended brilliantly.
It gives a very subtle sheen effect on your skin. I'll happily wear this to work as it doesn't look like I've been dipped in the glitter or shimmer powder - it gives a glow and only when you look really closely can you see tiny shimmery particles.
As you would expect from Soap and Glory, the lotion smells fabulous, like a mixture of strawberries and vanilla cream. It's quite a strong smell, so you would either need to co-ordinate it with your perfume, or only use the lotion or you might smell to overpowering.
It usually retails at £5 a bottle, but is frequently on offer (currently a third off). It's a lovely, luxurious product and would make a great gift or a special treat for yourself.
I'm naturally pale - incredibly so - and I'm happy with that. I'm not interested in fake tan or bronzer, but on the other hand sometimes I would like something to make my skin glow and shimmer a little. I bought Soap and Glory Glow Lotion a while ago in a 3 for 2 offer, so though it costs £5 at full price (for 150ml) it worked out a bit cheaper.
Glow Lotion comes in a cardboard box as the outer packaging, which strikes me as being rather wasteful from an environmental point of view, but is pretty with its use of pink, light yellow and silver. The front of the packaging has the product name and description: "Glow Lotion - a drop-dead gorgeous highlighting glimmer lotion for the body". Apparently the product is a "Celebrity beauty secret" although it doesn't say which celebrity! There is a black and white vintage-style picture of a woman, and a 'hot tip' - "apply tactically to emphasize your best assets".
The back of the pack states: "Use Glow Lotion all over as a moisturiser, on your neck and shoulders as a fragrant shimmer, or as a stand-in for stockings when you find yourself short of a little shin shine". There is a list of ingredients, most of which are incomprehensible to me!
Inside is a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. It is quite plain but it is easy to see the product and see how much you have left. The label is quite simple with just the product name and a few stars. The product itself is a pinky-peach colour with a bit of shimmer, which reassured me I wasn't going to look as though I had been tangoed!
I generally use the lotion on my legs, as suggested on the packaging, as I don't often wear tights to go out. The lotion is quite runny and has the familiar Soap and Glory scent of bergamot, strawberries, mandarin, amber, vanilla and musk. When you apply it on the skin it blends in really well, you can't see much of a colour but there is a definite shimmer and glow.
Sometimes I put it on my shoulders and arms, too. The great thing about it is that it doesn't rub off onto clothes or anything else! It lasts all night too, and makes my skin look glowing without a hint of tan.
Overall, I'm impressed with this product. It works well and, as I only use it on special occasions, it'll last for ages! Recommended.
Like any other girl I like a bit of glitz and glamour especially when your off on a big night out.
As I'm of the quite pale skin variety I shy away from fake tan generally, as I have a big phobia of turning out like an Oompa Lumpa. So a couple of years ago I was searching for something to give my skin a little bit of oomph for the summer ball at uni. It was my last ball before I graduated and I wanted to look as polished as possible.
In Boots I came across the Soap and Glory Glow Lotion, being a student I couldn't afford to spend a fortune on a lotion or potion, and this was at a reasonable £5. I first of all liked the packaging as it looked quite glamorous and old school. When I looked at the actual lotion it wasn't orange it was sort of peachy with a bit of sparkle, so I thought what the hell.
This lotion is super easy to apply, it gives a nice amount of moisture and smells absolutely gorgeous. I tend to apply it on my back and shoulders, arms, chest and collar bone. Generally which ever bit of skin is exposed. It gives the skin a hint of colour and a nice gleam. Nothing OTT or tacky, just a sophisticated glow.
I now use a bit of glow lotion whenever I go out on the razzle dazzle. If you have a tan it just sets it off making it look more healthy and dazzling. I have even been known to dab a little bit on my cheekbones, it really is that multi purpose.
Soap and Glory is a bit hit and miss with me. I really did not like their hair treatment thing which left my hair looking like a tonne of sunflower oil had been poured on top. Though the skin products seem to perform a little better. This glow lotion is mainly designed for the girls, but obviously guys can use it too to give their skin some get up and glow. The idea of a slow lotion is not only to soften the skin and make you smell delicious, but to leave you with a healthy looking shimmer.
I have a shimmer spray already in my bathroom, which I dip into when I want to make my skin look ready for the catwalk. It does not tan you, but buffs the skin with a gentle radiance. This product does the same sort of thing, only it is a cream that you rub into the skin. It dispenses easily enough and massages in well. Be prepared to be invigorated by glorious fruity smells. Particularly succulent strawberries and mandarin are the essences of summer here, while subtler tones of vanilla and amber drift hazily on the undercurrents, leaving you smelling divine. The flavours all compliment and it is definitely a scent that will make you want to keep sniffing.
t leaves the skin soft and smooth and delivers a subtle and graceful shimmer to the skin. Not anything to turn heads, but just enough to let people know that you take good care of yourself. This is important for me, because I don't want to go out smothered in glitter but I do want the skin to radiate and look alive. For under five quid, this should see you through a month or two and should be used for special days out. Worth buying.
Soap & Glory Glow Lotion
Description: Brand: Soap & Glory / Type: Body Lotion / Moisturiser / Massage into skin. Let the fresh scent of bergamot, strawberries, mandarin, musk, amber and warm vanilla get the attention your looking for! Highlight and hydrating with extra shimmer.
I really appreciate anyone who reads my reviews, and if you do, then you are likely to know that I am a fan of beauty and hair products. I have old favourites which I keep going back for and also like to try new things when I see them. I have tried quite a few products in the Soap & Glory range and loved most of them so expected good things when I tried this one recently.
It is easy to spot Soap & Glory products because of their fabulously retro looking packaging. You can buy the range in Boots and also collect Advantage Points with your purchase. Boots are currently running a special promotion offering a third off the price of selected Soap & Glory products which means that now is a great time to buy! 150ml of this lotion will normally cost you £5 but is selling right now for just £3.33.
Soap & Glory do not test on animals.
The product comes in the familiar Soap & Glory packaging, a pink and black box with a black and white picture of a glamorous female on the front. Inside, the product is in a pump action bottle which allows you to get just the right amount each time.
Soap & Glory recommend the following when using this product;
"Massage Soap & Glory® Glow Lotion into your shoulders, on the bend of your neck, on what the French delicately refer to as the 'decollete' for a hypnotic fragranced sexy hint of golden glamour"
Now when you first use the lotion, you will perhaps be disappointed by the beige colour that it appears to be. You also have to look extremely closely to see the golden shiny glitter particles as they are very small. Having said that, once you apply the cream, you will notice a slight and subtle golden glow which is actually really pretty. It isn't brash or too shiny so just gently highlights the skin and makes it glow in a flattering and light reflecting manner.
The fragrance of this cream is also delicious. It is quite distinctive to Soap & Glory and for me, makes me think of strawberries, melon and mango. It is sweet without being sickly and much more fruity than floral. It lasts really well on skin and you can still smell the scent hours after applying which I really like. It is a very feminine fragrance and great for during the day when you might want to smell lighter than some perfumes do.
The cream is very easy to apply as it isn't too thick so spreads evenly onto skin. I don't think it offers much moisturising but I wasn't using it for that purpose so that didn't worry me. The light and gentle glow that it gives is certainly very flattering though and for that reason, along with the gorgeous fragrance, I will keep using this product.
I have sensitive skin and didn't find any irritation when using this lotion, and although the pump action bottle isn't very big, you don't need to use a lot so it does last quite well too.
If you are new to Soap & Glory then this may be a great way to tty their products, especially with Boots selling them on special offer, treat yourself today and glow!
Call me a sucker for a cheap marketing ploy, but there's something about Soap & Glory products that I just can't help but love. The latest addition to my collection is their disappointingly innuendo-free Glow Lotion. This is a product designed to give you a highlighting, shimmery effect wherever you apply it.
Currently on sale at £5 for 150ml, I think you get quite a lot for your money as it is not something that you would need to use a lot of. Once out of the box, the product is contained in a transparent pump-action bottle, making it easy to see how much is left. The product itself is actually quite an unappealing fleshy pink colour, but if you look more closely you can see the shimmer and it looks a lot more desirable. The website claims the the cap stops the product from ever leaking in your bag, but it is only a pull-off and does not actually 'click' into place so this is not a claim I'd be eager to put to the test. However, the overall design is good and the pump makes it very easy to control the amount dispensed.
The label suggests using the lotion as a moisturiser, a neck and shoulder shimmer or a leg shimmer when not wearing tights. I wouldn't use this as a moisturiser myself as I didn't find it hydrating enough, but would apply it on top of my regular body lotion. That said, it definitely made my skin feel softer. However the other two suggestions both work well. The decollette area looks lovely when highlighted with this lotion. The effect is noticeable but subtle; if you look closely you can see very tiny glitter particles, but these would be acceptable for all but the most hardened glitter-phobes amongst you. The effect is more that of a slight sheen over the whole area. On the legs, I would recommend applying it just along the front of the shin bone for a slimming effect (for those of us who desire it - I have chunky calves and so have no wish to highlight them!). As I said before, you do not need much of the lotion at all to get the desired effect (unless your desired effect is really reeeally shiny) and the consistency is thin enough to rub in easily without being too runny to control.
The final use that Soap and Glory suggest for this product is as a perfume. The fragrance is gorgeous, quite unique, although it doesn't last very long. It would be handy as a top up fragrance, perhaps if you were going for an unplanned drink after work for example (assuming you had the foresight to keep it in your bag/desk that is) if you felt your perfume had worn off. I had trouble identifying the frarance but have used the website to cheat. The scent is bergamot, strawberries, mandarin, musk, amber and warm vanilla. To me, the scent is more musky than fruity, the vanilla and mandarin come through along with a warmth which I guess would be the amber. It actually has a rather complex smell which does imitate a perfume rather than a simple moisturiser.
Over all this product is handy for a touch up or quick beauty addition. If you were getting ready for a night out you would need to feel happy that the distinctive fragrance complemented your own perfume as I would not rely on this alone to last, but it definitely adds a touch of glamour and gave me a beauty boost, and for the price it is worth treating yourself to if you like a bit of shimmer.
I love the 50s the glitz the glamour and when celebrity woman looked like ladies with curves and beautiful natural complexions! Bring on Soap and glory!
The packing is the first thing that jumps out at you, its retro call and is a shout out to the 195os.The 150ml bottle is great value for money at £4.99 - it last for at least 8 weeks if used 3 times a week.
There is a great description on the front clear yet fun! Its pink box is girly and I don't even put it in the cupboard all my soap and glory products are on show as the coolness gives a retro twist to my bathroom.
The instructions are clear it is a highlighting glimmer lotion for the body. The best place to use these highlight lotions is on your arms, shoulder, breast bone and chest. Applying a little goes along way.
The effect is fab! Not only does it highlight it also gives you a glow; I would avoid putting it on your face though. This is not a glittery lotion more shimmery with a pink glow. The product is great on dry skin or transfer to clothes or drip off it you get hot.
The fragrance is subtle yet notable. My boyfriend actually commented he loved my new perfume! I was only wearing this lotion! It is a musky, soft smell with a sweet cupcake smell.
This is a great product due to the fact it's a shimmer not a glitter. The glow lasts and lasts as does the smell. Over all I would recommend this product for when you go out rather than everyday use.
I'm a big fan of the Soap and Glory range of cosmetices and this is a great body lotion that you can get for under a fiver, although admittedly not much under a fiver but still it represents good value as it is very effective.
This is not a lotion for every day use in my opinion rather one I apply before going out on the town, initially it is a little dark on your skin but as you massage it in the colour fades and you are left with a nice shimmer on your skin and a healthy looking glow about you.
It is quite a runny lotion which makes it easy to massage in ti your skin but you do have to be careful with the amount you get out using the pump as it has a really good coveridge and therefore you do not need to use a lot to get the desired effect.
It comes in a clear bottle with a pump action on top, the bottle is clear so you can see how much you have used and how much is left. Each bottle holds 150ml.
It does have a scent which is like a body butter, not at all fragrant more sweet smelling however it is not very strong and hence I do not find it competing with my perfume.
As I said I only really use this when I'm on a night out rather than for every day use, it gives your body a nice healthy glow while still looking quite natural.
I received the Soap & Glory Glow lotion as a gift a couple if years ago. At the time I had not heard much about this brand of products but it seemed like a good product so I was willing to give it a go.
Soap & Glory describe this product on the bottle as 'a drop deal gorgeous highlighting glimmer lotion for the body'. This pretty much tells you what it is, a lotion that will make you glimmer.
The product comes in a small clear bottle, which holds 150ml of liquid. The clear bottle allows you to see the content, which is a kind of pale skin coloured/browney liquid. On the front of the bottle is the quote, which I mentioned earlier, telling you exactly what the product does. It also has the name of the product and some little stars, which go well with the brand. On the side of the bottle it gives you instructions on how and where to use this product. It says it can be used as a moisturiser or also as a shimmer on your body. It can also be used instead of stockings on the legs. The weight and company information is also listed on the side. There is a pump action at the top, which is how you get the product out.
When using the product all you need to do is push the pump at the top and then a small amount of liquid will come out. This is good as if you only want to use a little bit then you do not want large amounts coming out. If you do want more then it is easy to keep pumping to get the desired out. The pump works well and I have never had a problem with this.
To apply the product you simply pump it in the hand and then smooth all over as you would a moisturiser. When first on the skin this product comes out almost as a sort of self tan or foundation colour but as soon as you rub this in the colour goes. It is fairly runny so you can smooth it all over you easily but it is not too runny. I use this product mainly on my legs but also use it across me chest and arms.
The glow lotion provides a really nice shimmer to your skin. I find this product especially good for winter time when I don't want to be using fake tan as I will probably will look orange. On the other hand I don't want to go out with pasty white skin. Therefore I use this product, which adds a slight bit of colour but mainly adds a lovely glimmer. Using the glow lotion on areas such as your legs definitely makes them look a bit nicer. I also find across the chest makes your skin look much better. I think this can really add to your confidence especially on a night out.
The product has a really nice smell that lasts a long time. It makes your skin smell lovely. It is quite a sweet smell, a little similar to that of body butters and quite distinctive. I could smell it the other day and realised my friend was wearing it. It is certainly a pleasant and girly smell that will enhance how you feel.
This product is currently selling for £4.89 at boots and also is on a 3 for 2 offer on soap and glory products. This is quite good value as mine has lasted me a very long time.
Overall I think this is a great product to really accentuate your best bits and add a bit of life to your skin on a night out.
