Advantages: Refined pores, Dramatic improvement in skin quality, Smoother Skin
I really dont think that anyone will argue with me here when I say that we all dream of that perfect skin, smooth skin with no imperfections, skin that looks good and glows with radience but for most of us this isnt a reality and problem pores, spots, dry, combination skin and excess oil and greasyness is a battle a lot of us find ourselves enduring on a daily basis.
Now my own personal problem is that I have combination skin that can get extremely oily in the t-zone areas and no matter what products I use nothing seems to combat the issues, I also suffer from quiete large, open, noticeable ( to me anyway ) clogged up pores that just wont go away no matter what products I try.
Now yes like many I could just hide and cover these imperfections up with concealer or foundation but I personally feel that this can just add to the issue and cause more problems to the skin so I always find myself searching and trying endless beauty products for a solution to at least try to help, products which usually always fail to deliver.. thats where the Soap and Glory Fab pore 15 minute facial peel comes in.
Now the Soap and Glory range was thought up by Marcia Kilgore (also the founder of Bliss spa) and was launched back in 2006. Marcia had a desire to create high quality bath, body and beauty products at affordable prices through a belief that "You shouldn't have to spend an arm and a leg just to moisturise one" and with the Soap and Glory range she almost certainly achieved this.
The Fab pore facial peel is an intensive pore refining facial peel which is ideal for those who suffer from oily, spot prone, problematic skin with large pores, it aims to make them less noticeable, remove any excess oil from the skin and smooth the skin and therefore improving quality keeping you looking younger.
Now before I start I will tell you now that this products name is a little deceptive to say the least, "Facial peel" , when hearing those words I was associating it to products which I had used in the past that you rub into your face and over a period of time as they dry they do so into a tight, rubbery mask over your face which makes you look like some scary looking china doll which you then have to peel off of your face and actually feels like your taking a layer of skin off with it too.. to be honest if you think about it this sounds like a scene out of a horror movie.
Now if you are expecting on of these types of mask then you will be very disappointed, now for some time because of their poor choice in product name I actually avoided this product even though I have such a penchant for soap and glory product, I really believed that it was one of these peel masks, it wasnt until I was told by a friend that it was in fact a clay mask that I decided to give it a go. So why they chose to decieve us with the name I dont know..
Ingredients within the facial peel include:
Mushroom Extract - this is used to help tighten and reduce your open pores making them looked more refined.
Salicylic acid - This works as an exfoliant to the skin removing dead skin cells from the surrface, it is also able to penetrate deep into any open pores that you may have. It is a great aid in helping to treat achne.
kaolin -Is used because it helps draw oils out from your pores while also removing dead skin cells and dirt residue from your skins surface
Vitamin E - which is known to help lock in moisture which helps to keep the skin soft and smooth
Hazel seed oil- this helps to removes impurities, reduces oiliness of the skin and to refines your pores making them less noticeable
Vitamin C which contain antioxidants to keep you looking younger( I wish! )
Laminaria saccharina extract - this is a form of algae extract, the use of this can reduce excess oil production which is known to be a direct cause of acne
Crataegus Monogina Flower Extract - Which has antibacterial properties to help prevent the formation of blemishes.
Now the packaging for the product follows that usual Soap and Glory image I always assosiate with this brand, Cute and sassy and very girlie, it has the usual quirky quotes and 1950s black and white images expected, you could say that the packaging is one thing that really appeals to me and their products look so good standing in the bathroom.
The facial peel itself comes in a small 50 ml white screw top tub which if I'm to be honest is a little boring compared to many of the other products from this brand which I use. Inside the facial peel is of what reminds me as being a clay like consistency that is pale pink in colour and that contains hundreds of tiny green beads which burst when you start to rub it into your face.
It has a scent which I could only describe as being menthol like, although it doesnt actually give you any kind of tingling or burning sensation which you can sometimes get with some menthol products out there on the market.
Now you can use this product two ways, you can leave it of for five minutes to provide a refreshing pick me up or can leave it on for 15 minutes for a deep cleansing treatment. I personally always opt for the 15 minute one unless im a little short on time as I find it far more effective and feel more refreshed.
directions for use:
Rub a grape-sized dollop of 'The Fab Pore' into your face and massage in circles until the green beads have all dissolved.
Those with a high tendency for clogging should concentrate on their t-zone, chin, or areas with large, open or problem pores.
Leave on for five minutes for a quick refresher, or fifteen for a real deep-cleaning do-it-yourself kind of 'facial'.
Rinse well, and follow with your favourite Soap & Glory moisturiser. Repeat 2-3 times weekly.
Now although it advises that you use a grape size blob I personally feel this is more than adequate to cover the entire face and that a little less would suffice to save on wastage as a little really does go a long way, you can always get a little more out if you need too.
It rubs in all over the face really effortlessly and because of its pale pink colour which chages to more green as the beads burst you can see the areas which you have covered and have not. once on the face the mask doesnt actually dry out, it stays fairly moist so you don't have to wory about any tightness occurring or feeling uncomfortablea anx it also rinses off really easily as compared to some facial masks after 15minutes
So the results...
Well Ive peronlly been using this product since before christmas and I have noticed a dramatic improvement in the skin quality to my face, the texture has improved and my skin is much smoother to the touch. The open pores which I had been suffering around my nose, forehead and cheeks have become so much more refined and some have virtually disappeared. It's not perfect (i don't think it ever will be) but my skin does look so much more healthier and brighter.
Now I must stress to you that I recommend that you follow the guidelines and continue to use this every 2 to 3 days as recommended, I did on one occasion stop using this product and my pores started to become more noticeable again but as soon as I started to use it again my skin quality improved again.
I would almost certainly recommend this to anyone who suffers from combination oily skin, I use to get problems with oily shine through across my nose forehead and chin but since using this product I have noticed a dramatic reduction in the shine through appearing during the day as well as the improvement in my pores.
Even with my sensitive skin Ive had no problems with this product, no irritation or aggrivation caused at all which sometimes can be a big problem.
In conclusion another fab product from the soap and Glory range, You can find the soap and glory range stocked in most larger Boots stores, you will find that a 50ml tub of Soap and Glory Fab pore 15 minute facial peel retails at £6.00, a bargain when you consider that a lot goes a long way and the results which it provides. A Beauty bargain
Summary: Another great product from the Soap and Glory range
