Solutions by Hive Moisture Light Cream
When I started learning beauty therapy a while ago I came across a moisturising cream from a company called Solutions by Hive, or Hive for short. Hive was launched in 1994 in Staffordshire, Tamworth. Hive supply the beauty and spa industry including collages and training schools.
Hive's products are relatively cheap but at the beginning this was great for me as I was starting out in the beauty world.
With Hive yes the prices are cheap but personally I think with their creams etc you're best paying extra and buying something more upmarket with more ingredients in especially something with a SPF. A lot of beauty therapists stay away from Hive because of this reason, they say they don't deliver the results clients expect theses days and yes their right. But for someone who is just starting out with skincare or your on a budget this range can be good for you, especially if you use a serum underneath the moisturising creams. I have found this cream to also be great on sensitive skins due to being unfragranced although this cream is designed for normal to oily skin types.
If you don't know what skin type you are theses are the categories.
Balanced Skin: Balanced skin is just what it means; it has a good balance of oil and moisture to the skin. There are even skin layers, which mean even skin tone. Facial pores are small or invisible, texture of the skin is soft, supple, even colour and healthy looking. Skin sometimes feels slightly warm to the touch; this is due to the good blood supply. You rarely develop spots and blemishes.
Dry Skin: Dry skin looks matte and has uneven texture. This is due to their not being enough sebum at the surface of the skin; natural moisture becomes lost from the upper layers of the skin structure.
The skin often feels tight and always in need of a rich moisturiser. Usually pores are small and the skin itself is thin. Unfortunately this skin type ages prematurely resulting in fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, which is very common.
You will also find you have dilated capillaries around the nose and cheeks.
Oily Skin: Oily skin produces more sebum than is needed, thus you always having an oily t-zone or generally oily all over. Skin surface appears shiny, thick, dull and often looks grimy. Pores get a build up of sebum and grime resulting in enlarges pores and blackheads. Blackheads are seen on the chin and nose. Spots and blemishes are more likely to be present.
Combination Skin: This skin type is where there are different characteristics on the face resulting in different skin types, mostly dry around the cheeks and oily on the t-ztone.
Sensitive Skin: All skin types are sensitive at some point, sensitive skin is said when skin is hypersensitive and over reacts to the mildest products.
The skin flushes very easily making it red and warm to the touch. Dry skin is also most likely to be sensitive.
This particular cream was formulated to sooth; improve elasticity of your skin, and to promote softness and comfort all day.
Ingredients used include: Water, PEG-6, Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Ethylhexyldodecyl Myristate, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Palm Kernal Glycerides, Dimethicone, Ceteth-20, Collagen, Oat Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glyceryl Stearate, Steareth-20, Hydrogenated Pal Glycerides, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butyparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben
The packaging of this product looks simple, clear plastic lid, clear plastic bottle, the good thing is when you press the pump action to get product out there is a clear plastic bottom that goes up the bottle as the product runs out, that way you will get every last bit so there is no wastage and it can be recycled.
When you use the cream you will find it is white in colour but feels light and rich at the same time.
On the skin however it feels just right, a little of this product goes a long way. If you use too much like two pumps it can make the skin feel a little greasy like it's not sunk in properly. One pump is all you need for the whole face and you will find it is better and sinks in easier. If you feel there is any residue left blot your face with some tissue then you're ready to apply your makeup.
I found it does make your skin feel smooth all day, but apart from that I wouldn't say it had any great benefits to my skin. There isn't any smell to this product as it is unfragranced so if you like a cream with a smell this cream won't be for you.
Moisturising creams contain approximately 60 per cent water. The relatively high proportion of oil and water prevents the skins natural moisture escaping from the deeper layers of the skin.
Once you have cleansed and toned the facial area and applied your eye cream in the morning, use one pump of the cream rub both fingers together as this makes the cream warm before applying then massage it all over the facial area. Straight away you should feel like the cream is soothing, calming and plumping the skin. Throughout the day you will notice your skin is hydrated with so signs of dryness.
I also found with this product it wasn't good for my combination/oily skin as I was shiny through the day although my skin felt very hydrated.
When I purchased this moisturising cream I got it for £5.20 for 50ml from a beauty site while studying; I am sure though you will be able to find this cheaper through Google. Alternatively you can buy it through Hive's website http://www.hive-online.com
I used one pump of this cream every morning and it lasted me a good 4/5 months that is very economical.
As for stars I give this product a 3 due to it not having a SPF, not results driven and feels greasy if used to much.
