A pretty little tin of cream
Member Name: stickyangel
Advantages: choice of tin designs, effective moisturiser, light and non-greasy
Disadvantages: old lady type scent
I received my first tin of SteamCream in a beauty box a few months ago. It's a product I've heard talked about a lot, and always in a positive light, but it never really appealed to me because it just seemed like the kind of thing my nan would use, old-fashioned like. It's also quite expensive at £12.95 for something I was expecting to be like Nivea creme.
It comes in a metal tin with a simple twist off lid. I have to say I love the design of the one I received. There are many different designs available so you're able to choose one that suits you, and you could reuse them when they're empty as little trinket tins or something like that. Mine is a limited edition design called 'Ambigue' by Mako Kikkawa. It's striped in black and white with 2 poodles on the lid and a little pink detailing, and I think it looks really cute. I'll definitely be keeping and reusing it when it's empty.
The cream itself is very different to what I'd expected. I 'd thought it would be one of those horribly thick creams, like the Nivea one in the blue pot, that just never absorb into the skin and leave me feeling disgusting, but it's nothing like that. It's actually a lovely light feeling cream with a rather 'wet' consistency that allows it to spread really easily over the skin and absorb quickly without leaving a greasy residue. The only thing I really don't like about it is the scent, which is that typical creamy, soapy and slightly floral scent that just reminds me of old ladies.
I've found it to be a really good moisturiser which I tend to use when my skin's feeling a bit dry and it provides instant relief. I wouldn't normally use this type of product on my face because they tend to turn my combination skin into a clogged oil slick, but because it feels really light I decided to give it a go and whilst it does feel a little heavier than I prefer on first applying it, it soon settles to leave my skin feeling beautifully soft and smooth. I definitely wouldn't use it every day on my face but it's great for when I get dry areas that need extra moisturizing.
Overall I really like this cream, which surprised me, but I don't think I'd buy it again just because I think there are better things out there for the price.
Summary: A decent moisturiser, but a little expensive
