Advantages: Beautiful tin to use after you have finished
Disadvantages: Greasy. Can only use for night cream
I recently acquired STEAMCREAM from a beauty advent Calendar. I think I'd vaguely heard about the brand before but not given them any attention.
First impressions - the packaging is very unique. Each cream comes in a palm-sized metallic tin with a design of choice, and there are plenty to choose from on their website. The smell of the cream doesn't appeal to me so much. The consistency looks quite nice. STEAMCREAM is made from natural products in the U.K or Japan and are mostly vegan friendly (amazing!). The cream is made using the steam technique to make it more of a whipped consistency. You can also use this cream on any of your body including face.
Packaging - obviously I didn't get to choose mine, but I got a Fiore Limited Editon, which has pink flowers with different patterns on the petals. You can see the metallic tin behind the flowers. It has STEAMCREAM embossed on the tin lid. You unscrew the lid by twisting. This means if you leave your tin upside down in a bag, when you open it, the cream might go everywhere. I try to keep it upright at all times.
It is pretty to look at, although I would of chosen a different one if I had the choice. There are some really lovely ones on their site. I will definitely be using the tin for storing small things after I have used it all. I encourage everyone who has this to do so!
I wish they just sold the tins with no cream! Haha.
Scent - the first thing I think of when I smell this is LAVENDER. I really dislike the smell of Lavender as it can be quite a mature scent. I would never choose this scent personally but I can deal with it as its not as strong as other lavender products. Slight scent of oatmeal (first ingredient) ...but very slight.
Product - creamy, but not overly thick or rich. Can be used for face, body or hands. I find it has a greasy feel after applying, especially on your face where you really don't want it to be greasy or oily. Therefore I only use this as a night cream, which leaves my skin feeling soft in the morning. Also on hands it is way to slippery and greasy, but good if you can't be bothered to find your hand cream or body cream. I also use this on my nail cuticles.
Overall - NOT a day cream. Most people who buy this buy it for the packaging so don't be fooled if you want a nice, greaseless, mattifying moisturiser. STEAMCREAM claims to sink in instantly which is just...not true. They need to work more on the cream and less on the packaging.
Also this cream is around £12.95 I think, which for me is unimpressive as the cream it really not that good.
Summary: Good packaging but not so good cream. Could be much better
