Superdrug Mud Therapy Face Mask
Advantages: Makes skin feel great and a good price
Disadvantages: Difficult to remove
Superdrug wouldn't usually be a place I would think of to buy a face mask, let alone one of their own branded ones. It wasn't until a friend of mine recommended it to me and let me try hers that I realised how good they are - I feel like I've been missing out for a long time now!
-- Superdrug --
Most places you go, you will see a Superdrug store somewhere. Their stores are in the large majority of towns and cities. Essentially they are a health and beauty retailer, selling all your necessary beauty needs. A lot of their stores have pharmacies too. To my mind, Superdrug has always been the slightly cheaper alternative to Boots although I'm not sure this is strictly true.
They sell many branded products that you would find elsewhere such as make up, fake tan and hair products. But they also have their own range of products, of which this face mask is one of them.
-- The Mask --
The mask comes in a purple coloured tube with a flip top cap allowing for easy access to dispense the product. On the front there is a white heart in the top right hand corner, with 'Mud Therapy' underneath and 'deep cleansing mud mask'.
The tube is a reasonable size and similar to what you would expect the size of a tube of hand cream to be (75 ml). No doubt it will last me for quite some time. The back of the tube contains ingredients, directions for use and safety advice.
The colour of the product when it is dispensed is a greeny/murky kind of colour that is very thick in texture. Because of this a small amount goes quite a long way and I only needed about the amount of a ten pence piece to cover my face and neck.
-- Use --
I dispensed the mask onto the back of my hand and used my finger to cover my face and neck. It went on very easily despite its thick texture. Although it contains the exfoliating particles, it didn't feel too bumpy on my skin. Also, initially my skin didn't feel clogged up at all.
After it had been applied, I left it for ten minutes as advised on the back on the tube. After around five minutes, I could feel that the mask had dried as my face felt very tight. I tried to smile at one stage but with great difficulty!
When it came to removing the mask it wasn't as easy as I had hoped. I have a sponge which I used, but it took some below grease. It was almost as if it had sealed itself to my face! I used warm water and the sponge and after around five minutes I managed to get it all off - it seemed the more water I used the easier it was, although as you can imagine this becomes quite messy.
-- Results --
My skin felt quite tight after all that scrubbing to remove the mask, but after applying some moisturiser I was really pleased with the results. My skin looked radiant and felt extremely smooth. I suffer with dry areas on my forehead and around my nose but both of those areas felt smooth and continued to do so for quite a few days.
I didn't experience any sensitivity issues or allergic reactions to the mask which I have had with other products in the past.
-- Pricing and Availability --
As this is a Superdrug branded product, as you may expect you can purchase it from the majority of Superdrug stores. Similarly, you can use their website to purchase it online.
The price of the mask is very reasonable at £2.59 or 2 for £3.49. It is probably one of the cheapest beauty products I have ever purchased! It also comes in a Raspberry flavour and an Aloe Vera flavour too.
-- Overall --
Despite the mask being difficult to remove, I was really pleased with the overall results. I have used it 6 times so far and the tube still continues to feel full so I'm hoping it will last quite a long time yet. For value for money, it doesn't get much better for this. 4/5 stars - only because its so damn difficult to remove!
