I've just discovered these individually sold facial mask packets in Superdrug for 99p. They are new to the shop. There are other masks in the range including a smoothie and a yoghurt mask. I was drawn to the package with berries on it.
The masks are paraben free which means that there is no preservative in it. The chemical, a man-made preservative, is thought, by some scientists, to create an excess of hormones which may lead to breast cancer. This is not absolutely proven. However, if Superdrug can provide a mask which is paraben free whilst other products on display cost more but have parabens in well the choice, for me, is simple. I bought the mask, with a picture of a woman and cranberry, blueberries and raspberries, called 'Superfruits Exfoliating Mask.' This low cost mask is also suitable for vegetarians and is approved by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV). So this product is cruelty free and, hopefully, harmless to my skin whilst allowing for a relaxing pampering session.
Last week I had a very stressful day and wanted to have a mini-pampering session to block out the dramas of the day.
After a relaxing bath I tied my hair back and checked the instructions for use.
The cream is to be applied to a dry face and left for ten to fifteen minutes.
Tear open the packaging and inside is a good thick and creamy substance that smells divine - like summer and early autumn berries. In addition to the berries photographed on the packaging there are strawberries and the berry seeds from this fruit act as the exfoliator.
Despite the exfoliating properties the cream felt very soft on my face. I expected the product to feel tight on my skin, something I've always felt with other mask packs that were not made by Superdrug. This new mask did not cause tightness which was great as it allowed for extra relaxation. Having skin that can be sensitive I took the precaution of washing off the mask after ten minutes of use. Luckily, there was no soreness or red skin and my face felt smooth and refreshed. Most importantly I felt like the stress of the day had been eradicated. It was a good experience.
I still have half a packet left to have another indulgent self-pampering session. Having tried to encourage you to buy this I now want to indulge myself again and I'm going to put on another mask tonight!
Five stars to Superdrug for making such a good mask, for doing so ethically and with concern for the health of their customers.
As some of you may well know I just adore face masques, they are a massive part in my skin care routine. More or less every day I will have used a masque, I normally go for calming ones due to my stressful lifestyle!
Superdrug - Superfruits Exfoliating Mask:
'This really is super! Superdrug Superfruits Exfoliating Mask is bursting with raspberry. Cranberry and Blueberry extracts this mask deeply cleanses and purifies pores, while the Strawberry seeds gently exfoliate the skin- leaving your complexion gleaming'.
Last week I received an email from Superdrug as I have one of their beauty reward cards, telling me all about their new range of facial masks. Now I was rather excited as I love trying new ones, the bonus was if you took your beauty card to the till I could have one for free!
There are a few to pick from so I picked four of them that appealed to me. The first one I tried which I'm reviewing today is Superfruits Exfoliating mask. I only use an exfoliating mask twice a week, three at a push if my skin is in need of it.
My favourite brand for this kind of product has always been Montagne Jeunesse and now Superdrug has jumped on the wagon to follow their lead. I was just hoping that I would get just as good, if not better results.
When using this face make for the time the first thing I noticed was a lovely fresh raspberry yogurt scent that came from the product. It really does smell good enough to eat! I love fruity scented items so this for me was off to a good start as it didn't smell artificial either.
Now as this is an exfoliating mask I was expecting to feel some rough grains within the creamy mask mix. However the exfoliating grains are very soft and I think even someone with sensitive skin would be fine with this one. I would still always recommend a patch test before hand, like I do with every new product I try on my skin as it can re-act at times.
Most people will know how to use a mask, you just smooth it over a cleansed face and wait the time instructed and wash off. Some masks will ask to rub onto a wet face but this one stated to place over dry skin which was what I did. This mask is to be left for 10 - 15 minutes before washing off, I left mine on for 15 minutes as I just adored the aroma and the soft feel it had.
After the 10 minute mark the mask does start to dry a little, but I didn't get a tight sensation at all. Some masks when dry I have felt become tight over my skin which isn't the most pleasant of feelings. However no tightness here you are just relaxed and wrapped up in a yummy scent.
Once 15 minutes were up I started to wash the mask off, I find a damp flannel is much easier to remove a mask. When I had removed the mask I gave my face another quick rinse to make sure I had got rid of all the product from my face. I could feel the exfoliating grains more so when it came to washing the mask off.
My face looks so much more refreshed no redness just lovely glowing complexion. My face didn't have any dry sensation which does happen from time to time after using a mask. I still applied a moisturiser but it was around 30 minutes or so after I had removed the mask and normally I do it straight away.
Superdrug, had this mask before however this is now their updated/revamped version and I'm proud to say it seems to have a much better effect on my skin. The packaging is welcoming, easy to open and fun looking a bit like there competitors!
Price and Availability:
As this is a Superdrug own product it can only be purchased from Superdrug store or their web site. They are 99p each (They were 4 for the price of 3), I had an email stating if I took in my beauty card I would have one for free but I picked 4 up and took them to the till. However for all 4 masks it only charged me 99p!
The results I got from this mask made my skin feel great and the feeling lasted for the whole day and the following day. I would certainly use this mask again and I'm looking forward to trying the others Superdrug have brought out. So off to a good start so far!
Five out of five stars from me.
Thank you for reading.
