Advantages: Reduces redness and fights spots to keep skin clear
Disadvantages: Feels a little greasy on the skin
-- Reasons for buying --
I have been using tea tree oil on my acne prone skin for a while now. I recently decided to opt for a cheaper option rather than continuing to use The Body Shops Tea Tree Oil as I found that it was quite expensive to keep re-purchasing it, as It was £5 for 10ml. So whilst in Superdrug I came across there Blended Tea Tree Oil which was a bit cheaper for the same amount and decided it was worth giving it a go.
-- Packaging --
The blended oil comes in a transparent bottle, with a green label wrapped around the centre stating the name of the product and the brand the Tea Tree brand logo. On the back it shows the ingredients and some further information about the product. The bottle is sealed by an screw-able black cap which is easy to remove and replace again after use.
-- Applying the product --
The product is very easy to apply. It dispenses only a small drop at a time, so it refrains from letting out to much. I apply a moisturiser before applying, so it doesn't dry out my skin. I find this works best over night as prevents bacteria getting inside your pores whilst you sleep. Superdrug recommend applying this with a cotton wool pad, personally I either use a cotton bud or my fingers. Make sure if you use your fingers, to thoroughly wash your hands before and after.
-- Positives --
I think this is a very good alternative to The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil as its a bit cheaper and you get the same amount of product. Its easy to apply and I like that it is also diluted so no burning sensations or having to dilute yourself, which I have always found quite difficult. I found the results very similar to using the Body Shop's version as it prevented my spots from becoming angry and they disappeared very quickly! I also found it helped with black heads on my nose and made them look much less noticeable. I like that this doesn't smell very strong, as some can be quite unbearable and make my eyes water. This is a very diluted oil and doesn't irritate, or burn my skin and is very good for sensitive skin like my own.
-- Negatives --
The only negative for me with this is that whilst applying, it felt very greasy on my skin and didn't seem to sink in which did make me feel a little uncomfortable, but with regular use you get used to this and seems less noticeable. I think that the only reason this was uncomfortable for me was because I'm use to the Body shop's one and that dried almost immediately without a greasy feel to it.
-- Price and Availability --
This product is available for £2.99 in Superdrug stores and on there website. I think the price is very reasonable for 10ml which lasts a long time because of the dispenser.
-- Conclusion --
I really liked this product as it helped reduce the redness and size of my spots, by fighting the bacteria and keeping my skin look clear. The price is very good and is a very good alternative to the body shops tea tree oil and saves a couple of extra pounds in your pocket. Its brilliant for sensitive skin, as the oil is diluted and doesn't cause any irritation.
Summary: Great product for a cheap reasonable price!
