“ Brand: Superdrug / Scrub / Type: Facial Scrub / Suitable for: Face / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types / What it does: Exfoliates / Product line: Superdrug Vitamin E „
I recently went to superdrug on the lookout for a facial scrub. I was going away for a few days and only wanted a mini one. I found this one priced at £1 for 30ml and thought as it was such a nice little size I would buy it.. I didn't really think it would be one I would normally buy, but the information on the packaging seemed like it was worth a try.. and am I glad I bought it!
All in all.. I thought this was a great little scrub and I will be buying it again.. probably go for the bigger size next time too! The packaging is beige in colour much like the scrub itself inside. I don't think the packaging is very eyecatching in colour and looks quite basic compared to other brands.. but don't let that stop you purchasing it.
The scrub itself comes out in a thin liquid and when applying it to your face it spreads really easily... which is great as you never really need to use much. I thought as I bought such a small tube I woudn't get much use out of it.. but you really don't need to apply loads for it to work.
My skin can get quite dry and I found using the scrub to make it feel instantly soft and I did feel a positive change by using it for a few days. The scrub also doesn't feel harsh to use on the skin and it does not have a especially girly nor strong scent.
The packaging states: our naturally sourced vitamine E is a powerful antioxidant which not only revitalises and protects the skin, it also helps to combat the damaging effects of free radicals and shield it against the environment. This gentle exfoliator with outmeal lifts dead skin cells to reveal deeply cleansed skin that feels soft, smooth and looking radiant.
Also superdrug is against animal testing and the scrub is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
I give the scrub 5 stars.. as you may have gathered.. I quite liked it :P
Though I may buy others when I feel like pampering myself more.. but priced at only a pound.. this scrub does well.
I use this facial scrub as a part of my daily regime due to having difficult combination skin; it can get quite dry but I also have problems with spots due to oiliness in the t-zone. I used to cleanse, tone and moisturise always, but find now that unless I am wearing make-up and need an extra deep clean, that this product can be used on it's own to keep my skin clean and moisturised.
The packaging is neutral coloured and functional; I have no problems popping the cap even during a flare up of arthritis. The tube tends to last me three weeks, which at £1.99 for 100ml is good value for money.
Vitamin E is pretty good for the skin, working as an antioxidant and also as an anti-aging product, and oatmeal is a great natural exfoliant, with properties that soothe irritated skin and help to bring moisture to the surface. The combination is great as a moisturising facial scrub.
It's easy to use; a generous blob on my fingertips is enough to massage into my face and neck and get good results. The scrub itself is grey/beige coloured and full of tiny beads and oaty chunks. I make sure to shake/massage the tube before I squirt it as sometimes mix splits and I notice that the scrub feels less exfoliating. Don't have the skin too wet when applying or it slides off, I find it best to wet my hands and apply to dry skin, as opposed to the instructions on the packaging to wet the face.
I definitely don't find this harsh on sensitive skin, though I do recommend you avoid contact with the eye area, the little bits can be irritating if they get into your eye. The baby powder smell means that this scrub is unisex, my partner uses it occasionally himself.
The vitamin E leaves the skin moisturised and the oatmeal exfoliates away dirt and dead skin to give me a clearer complexion with less flare ups and glowing skin that looks really healthy. It has been a constant on my shopping list since I first discovered it a year ago and I am happy to recommend it to friends. I occasionally use other scrubs with a nicer smell when I fancy a treat, but otherwise it's great.
This product is also suitable for vegans, uses naturally sourced vitamin E and is not tested on animals.
I got this last week as i've been having a bit of trouble lately with my skin becoming slightly dry and flaky due to the warmer weather, and it was starting to become a pain to tackle, with even the thickest layer of foundation unable to hide it.
As a dedicated Superdrug customer, i decided to pop down there and have a look around for a nice smoothing/exfoliating cream. Once there, i soon became overwhelmed by the choice of products, and in the end asked a member of staff to point me the direction of a decent facial scrub, and was lead to this - The Superug Vitamin E Facial Scrub.
I was told that this would do the job in smoothing and cleansing my skin to reduce dry/dead skin so decided to purchase it. The scrub was just £1 for 30ml which i was very pleased with and i still feel it's a real bargain.
The packaging is very simple; a small, white tube with the products name on the front and a very brief product description reading "Gentle exfolliation to reveal deeply cleansed, radiant skin." The back of the tube stated the ingrdients and a brief step by step guide to using it which is very basic.
Opening the tube was simple and the liquid is just like shampoo; same consistency. To use, i squeezed a large blob into my palms and spread around my face, which i dampen first to ensure no sweat or dirt gets rubbed into my pours aswell as the scrub. It's easy to spread evenly as it's nice and smooth and it warms up quickly, it seems to absorb well and the smell, although not strong, is quite pleasent.
Once applied and left on for a few minutes i wash it off with cold water to close my pours back up, and i can honestly say my skin is always extremely soft, smooth and fresh after use.
I do have sensetive skin so am always careful with new creams etc, and i've had no issues with redness or irritation from using the scrub what so ever.
Overall i'd reccomend this scrub, definetly; it works - my dry skin is much more smooth and no longer flaky. My skin is always lovely and smooth after use. The scrub is suitable for vegans, vegeterians and also isn't tested on animals; something i always take into account before buying a new beauty product.
This is actually among my favourite products...
At £1.99 I thought I couldn't go wrong. The best face scrub I had tried in the past contained oatmeal, as it is very soothing for the skin, however I wanted to find a cheaper alternative.
Now there are a few things which I have to have in my face scrubs - I really like to feel it clean deeply so I don't like tiny particles, I also like my facial products to be fairly plain as I don't want unnecessary colours/perfumes in it and I want something that will also have a soothing effect on my skin as it using a scrub is quite a harsh process for sensitive skin.
Admittedly, when you look at the bottle you wouldn't think it was much to shout about, however it ticks every box on my list. It has thicker particles than St. Ives Apricot Scrub for eg so it is excellent for deep cleaning, the liquid containing the scrub is quite thin so it spreads easily and I never need much product, it isn't strongly coloured or scented and it contains oatmeal to soothe the skin.
As I am prone to dry/sensitive skin I find that this is harsh enough to lift away all dead skin but gentle enough not to damage it. A couple of times a week I use this before my cleansing balm, and I find that an excellent combination deep cleansing.
I own nothing else in this range but am so glad I found this. I am genuinely surprised that this is still my first tube of this scrub and I am still no where near finishing it and feel like I've been using it forever! I think that due to the larger particles I don't need to use more product than necessary to compensate for poor quality. This really is my best bargain and although I'm sure I can be tempted away by a few Lush scrubs every now and then, I know this will always be regular.
Price: £1.99 for 100ml
For: Gentle exfoliation to reveal deeply cleansed, radiant skin
The packaging for this product is very basic, a simple squeezy plastic tube, which is opaque, so you can't see how much you have left. It looks nice enough, not really cheap and nasty, but certainly doesn't stand out as being high quality or exciting. It stands on a flip top lid which fastens tightly, but the hinge is pretty flimsy and will break easily.
The scrub has a fairly thick, creamy consistency and a creamy scent to go with it. It contains oatmeal, and the grains are easily visible. They are all different shapes and sizes due to being natural, rather than uniform in size and shape.
It feels really smooth and creamy when you massage it into the skin, but you can really feel the exfoliation, and I found that it was a little too harsh on some areas of my face and it felt slightly uncomfortable, though not painful. On those areas that were not as sensitive it just felt like it was doing a good job of smoothing out my skin and getting rid of the dead cells. The grains do seem quite randomly dispersed throughout the tube of scrub, so sometimes there are loads of grains and sometimes hardly any in the amount of scrub that you use.
I do find that I need to use a fair amount of the stuff to feel my whole face has been thoroughly cleaned, particularly when I hit part of the tube where the grains are more sparsely distributed, but considering how cheap it is I don't think that's an issue at all.
The scrub rinses off easily, with no grains lingering on the skin. My skin is left feeling soft and smooth, but also fairly greasy and therefore not really feeling clean, and so I need to cleanse again after using it. The areas that felt uncomfortable whilst using the scrub feel fine again once it is rinsed off, so there is no long-term sensitivity.
Although this leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, it's really not to any great extent, and the effects don't last that long. Also, usually when I use a good face scrub I can see a visible difference in my skin, it tends to look clearer and healthier, but there was no visible change with this one. I can't say it's bad value for money, it's an average face scrub at a cheap price, but I wouldn't buy it again.
All in all I think this is pretty average, but who expects more for £1.99?
Thumbs in the middle from me.
